Flicker of Hope (APL part 2)
Forum-Index → Roleplay → Flicker of Hope (APL part 2)Flay had noticed that her group had gone off without her, which she was fine with. She would’ve refused if they went and got her anyways. Still... They were talking about a base, right? The winged person talked about somewhere safe, didn’t they? That would mean that there were others there, others that might know of a way to end her misery... right? No, she couldn’t think negative like that. Was it really the best option to just die because she was in pain? If they knew of a way to do that, there might be a possibility they knew how to stop the pain without her life being taken... Either way would’ve been fine with her, it was better than sitting here forever anyways. She slowly got up, hardly wincing as her joints moved and her skin flexed. She walked around aimlessly, trying to remember the direction they had headed. To make it easier on herself, she used her long forgotten telekinesis to allow her to make less movements. After what seemed like hours to her, she finally made it to a strange building in a mountain. She walked in slowly, following her allies only to be greeted with quite a few people that made her uneasy. She stayed low, hoping no one had noticed her.
"We need help." Faith insisted to Noel, who was still staring at them as if unsure. "We just got out of a fight with Benton and-"
Noel held a hand up as if saying 'stop.' "How do we know you're not with him?"
"If we were, some of you would be injured or worse." Faith pointed out, carefully shifting the tiny inkling in her arms. "We were told by Maddy that this was the last safe place. Somewhere we need to stay if we were going to take Benton down."
When a groan sounded behind him, Hyde whipped around, ready to fight before pausing. There was someone kneeled over as a healer hovered worriedly over him. Perking up, he wandered over to them to check if the healer needed any help. With each step, Hyde could start to make out that the figure on the ground was familiar. Um.... what was his name again? Rick, maybe? Something like that. Waving slightly to alert both the healer and of R-something of his presence, a closed-lip smile on his face. "Is everything alright?" He asked cheerfully, keeping his voice down as to not disturb the conversation at the front door
"That sounds fun, you have got to invite me next time." Hyde snickered, helping the medic check over the wounds. Doing the standard checks to see if Ryan indeed have a concussion, Hyde reached the conclusion that, yes he did indeed but it wasn't all that serious so it wouldn't be that hard to fix. "Good news though is I can heal you right up in a jiffy~ So d'ya want the quick and easy heal that will make you super tired, or you wanna tip that solution bottoms up? Probably tastes disgusting I'd reckon." He declared with a toothy grin, putting his hands on his hips.
"It doesn't taste the best and is sure as heck ain't pumpkin juice, but it gets the job done." the medic simply responded.
"Well, since you seem to be in good enough shape to crack a few jokes, I'm gonna head back out to see if anyone needs me. Rest up, and next time you go explodin' things, invite me too yeah?" Hyde winked cheerfully, clapping his hands together before sauntering out. Taking the back entrance to the compound, Hyde paused for a moment to take stock of what he could do. The plants on the roof were always in need of care and there was some experimenting he'd like to do with the seeds and termination methods, but also it seemed that the new group outside might need some medical attention. Weighing the two options in his head, Hyde reluctantly admitted that since most people seemed pretty scared and adverse to his presence, he was better off sequestering himself up on the roof. The compound had other healers that could take care of the group. As his footsteps echoed against the walls as he made his way up to the top, Hyde gingerly ran a thumb over his jagged teeth, feeling the small hooks catch and rip at his skin, beads of blood blooming on the pad of his finger. He wondered, absentmindedly wiping the blood off on his shorts, what it would take for the others to finally see him.
(Sorry, couldn’t help it xD)
"Aw-dway-squid. . ." Faith gently set Coraline down on one of the beds allowing Ripley to tentatively feel the inkling's leg where the bullet was stuck in her leg. "Ng-hglooowrh!" Coraline flinched her leg away from Ripley's gentle touch.
"How far in do you think it is?" Faith asked Ripley. "She wont need surgery will she?"
Faith nodded and sat down next to Coraline to give the child a form of comfort as Ripley got the supplies ready. When Ripley pulled out a sharp-looking scalpal, Coraline started to panic as she suffered a brief flashback to Benton using a similar scalpal to cut off a small piece of her tentacle which had hurt a lot despite it eventually growing back. "Hey, it's okay. I'm right here sweetie." Faith gently rubbed her back and Coraline hid her face in Faith's chest. As Ripley readied the tools Faith gave her a slight nod for her to start as she consoled the inkling.
