Just received my first mewtwo and will soon begin shiny hunting. I have heard that mewtwo and a few other Pokémon cannot be traded. I get the idea that it gives people motivation to complete their Pokédex. But for someone who is going to be going through a shiny hunt and each egg takes 30k steps, I believe there should be a reward given for the non shinies. My idea is that for Pokémon that can’t be traded, maybe we could trade them for gems or some kind of currency. Because it would be heartbreaking mass releasing Mewtwos. Idk it doesn’t have to be crazy just random gems at random amounts maybe? It might be a dumb idea. Maybe someone can improvise.

Otherwise it would be nice to have, maybe a NPC Cough cough team rocket cough cough who trades you gems for dex legendaries and untradeables like Missingno, obviously it shouldnt be a lot of gems because it would be game breaking and for shinies/mega ables it should give more gems

i simply cannot support for just the idea of smelting a pokemon, like melting it down for some currency or gems.

Trading a pokemon in for random gems sounds so much better than "smelting"

Obviously it’s trading in Pokémon for gems.. at the time smelting was just the wording I used. I’ve never even played Minecraft so I wouldn’t know.

This actually sounds like a good idea, like, Mass releasing mewtwo is sad, but like, trading it for gems, thats smart, like, its not like smelting or anything, its just trading a legendary pokemon for gems

I definitely think SOMETHING should be done with non tradeable pokemon. You don't get profit from shiny/shiny mega hunting them like you do with everything else. And I totally would feel bad about mass releasing.

I know we've gotten a good bit of updates with the gem collector, but maybe we could simply trade said pokemon with him for gems/prizes. Either the gem collector or Rowan.

I think this is a good idea. Maybe the currency could be a release coin or something? Then you could exchange the coins for goodies (some trade-able, specials are not)... Trading them to the Gem Collector for Gems is also a good idea, because trainers work hard to breed and hatch the eggs.

hm… as much as many people would profit from this system, I’ll have to go with no support.

1. Trading dex legends for gems would only benefit those with ditto, as it is required to breed them, and less lucky users will not be able to do anything. The rich/lucky ones would get richer as they get free gems, and the not so lucky ones would just be stuck.

2. I really don’t see why releasing dex legends is sad, you can breed more, and you will have a shiny one if you hunted it. It’s like hunting magicarp, almost no one buys it as it’s a junkmon, and there’s little incentive to hunt it, but people still hunt it, so why shd dex legends be any different?

I support. I don't have any dex legends yet, but I imagine it wouldn't be good to just have a box full of Mewtwo just sitting there, collecting dust.

While I do support this idea and think something based around the idea would be fine to implement and work. I still do think that Dex rewards should also be able to be traded to others who have already obtained a specific Dex reward.

I have a suggestion about this here. It would be a huge help to people who would like to shiny hunt Dex reward Pokémon for others and at least have it be some sort of profitable thing.

I mean, I do think you could implement and add both ideas and even then it wouldn't be too much. At some point there are just going to be too many Dex reward Pokémon for anyone to know what to do with and it takes a lot of time/effort to hunt these.

I'm super in favor of this! I've been steadily working my way towards getting a MissingNo egg every week, and I currently have about a zillion extras. I don't need them, so I think the idea of being able to trade them in -- or, y'know, however it would be implemented if this suggestion were to progress -- would be great and very useful!
