'Till the Monarch Falls [Sign-Up]
Forum-Index → Roleplay → RP Sign-up → 'Till the Monarch Falls [Sign-Up]The last time the gods went to war, their home was destroyed. A weapon was forged capable of shattering gods. In his desire to end the war Terratus used the blade against the Authoritative, it was a hard fought battle and in the end both of the gods were shattered. Their bodies falling apart and creating legendary blades imbued with fragments of their power. Left without a physical form, the war between the gods was presumed to have ended. Years passed and the influence of the gods faded, forgotten by many.
Now, shadows of the Authoritative's influence have begun to show, and with his forces rising once more Terratus has also begun to build his army. Conflict is brewing once more, threatening to tear planets apart again.
The Aferi are a people who pride themselves as a people free from outsider influence. They keep to themselves and do not bother to get dragged into the quarrels of those from beyond their skies, or at least they had. The day the exile arrived was the day that everything changed. Without warning, the Monarch had ordered her people into joining the outsider's war, placing them under the exile's new allies. The Aferi are now in an outrage, disturbed by the sudden change in their ways, and for the first time in their recorded history rebellious thoughts cross the minds of many. Including your own.
You have been meeting with many who share your own thoughts, and a plan is being hatched. A plan to overthrow the Monarch and return their life to its proper state, or die trying.

Aferis (singular) . Aferi (Plural) . Aferin
(Adjective)
-
Beings that seem to reflect the stars, Aferis is a species discovered in the galaxy. Until recently, any attempts to encourage the Aferi to embrace modern technology were rejected, opting to live a more primal way of life. Aferi can vary greatly in appearance wing wise, with little rhyme or reason to it. A caste system was created around this biological phenomenon. Those with a greater number of wings holding higher positions in their society. Symmetry of the wings can also affect treatment within their society. A spot of dust or a feather out of place can stir up mockery and general disrespect, whereas an Aferis with a permanent disfiguration can be exiled from their society entirely. Wings can be folded into the body to take on a more humanoid appearance, though it can be discomforting and creates an itching sensation alongside their back.
Appearance:
Aferi will have anywhere from 1-3 pairs of wings, varying in size, shape, and appearance. Most Aferi have one pair of wings with a feathery appearance. Hairs will come in black, blues, purples, and white. Eyes are white or silver, very rarely a light blue. They have pointed ears, often decorated with elaborate jewelry.
Society:
Aferin society is, as earlier stated, based on the number of wings an Aferis possesses. A wing being disfigured would result in exile, which in many cases meant death to the unfortunate Aferis. The lower class are more likely to be more fluent in outsider languages, as they tend to interact more with them. This does not mean that they are able to speak it well, and at most they may know the few phrases essential to their trade and common interactions with outsiders.
Aferi are not eager for any sort of change, ignoring any outsider influence. They are rigid in their ways and often seem incapable of understanding outsider concepts, making communicating with them just a little harder. They become angered when there are major changes in their lives or society and will fight against it to try and return to normalcy. Exiled may be more likely to be swayed as they have been separated from Aferin society.
They do not have any familial bonds. A child is raised with the parents until it reaches the age of 15 where the child, now considered and adult, is sent off to live on its own. They do not have family names.
The Aferi do not believe in gods, the highest authority in their society has always been the Monarch. The word of the Monarch is law and is followed without question.
Two Wings
Two-wings is the title referring to Aferi with a single pair of wings. They are lower class citizens, doing a large majority of the work to uphold the Aferin people. They are farmers, hunters, scouts and more. They do much of the manual labor.
Four Wings
Four-wings are Aferi with two pairs of wings, they are the middle class of the Aferin society. They are scribes and artists, documenting history.
Six Wings

Monarchs
The Monarchs are born with four pairs of wings, usually restricted to a single bloodline, though not a guarantee. The oldest of the Monarchs is the single ruler of the Aferin people.

recently taken up interest in outside technology, and has been
trying to adapt their tools and weapons to better suit the
Aferi.

Keori Hiraoka | "The Snow Raven"
Female | She/Her | Bi
19
She has long snow-white hair that is usually twisted into a braid, hanging over her shoulder. Her skin is pale and her build is tall and athletic. Her eyes are a pale blue flickering with sparks of white and gold. She is often dressed in a white shirt with black and blue detailing, a pair of dark trousers and sturdy leather boots
Keori has a set of raven double wings. However one pair of the two is black and burned from an incident which she wishes to ignore. Though, fully aware of the ridicule and talk behind her back, she continues to show both. The other set are are navy blue in colour and naturally fade down to a blue that matches the pigment of her eyes, eventually reaching pure white
Friendly | Aware | Conscientiousness
~
Emotionless | Fiery | Arrogant | Distrusting
Whilst tending to appear warm and gentle, her personality is cut straight leaving one side of her to be emotionless, untrustworthy and arrogant. Her ability to share opinions and speak her mind does have an impact on others, as she sometimes forgets effects it may cause.

"The One Winged Witch" Viorel
He/Him | Gay/Ace
32
Though appearances may lead many to believe him to be a sadistic schemer who takes advantage of the weak and vulnerable, Viorel is in reality a kind-hearted witch who is endlessly supportive of anyone who comes seeking his help. He is willing to hear out any request of any kind and may even poke his nose into other people's business for the expressed purpose of solving other's problems. Perhaps a bit too much as he actively pushes the boundaries of his pseudo-exile just to help out the lower class two-winged Aferi with whatever troubles ails them. He is quite eloquent and well mannered for one who lives on the outskirts of society, talking as if having been brought up in royal courts, well learned in both Aferi and Outlander ways
There is a rumour that floats around the major cities: Towards the edges of the world in a moratorium-like life, offer your deepest desires to the uncaring space and fall into the final circle of hell, right into the Violet Witch's hands. When we wake from this dream will we turn into an ox?

[Personality]Soel stands at a rather nice height of
a 5'7, with wide shoulders and slender waist, with a thin layer of
well trained muscles hidden underneath his loose fitting
outfit.
With a lightly tanned skin that screams healthy, Soel has semi-curly dark brown locks, that looks black under the sun, with orbs of molten gold as his eyes, shining incredibly bright, always with a purpose or burning determination to do something, or cause change despite being an Aferi with 2 pairs of wings.
Well, almost two pairs.
On Soel's back, were elegant crow-like wings that were dipped in an river of ink. Each feather was colored a rich black that seems to absorb light infinitely like a black hole. But what used to be two pairs of wings, is now 1 pair, and a single ink wing. There is a scarring wound on the top shoulder blade of Soel's shoulder, where the top left wing was supposed to be. But instead, it was empty, and instead, what was left was just a empty scar wound that would start to throb whenever it rained. But that doesn't stop the fact that Soel was an excellent flyer, despite having an uneven pair of wings, his control over them are better than most people.
Soel's wardrobe usually consists of comfortable, loose fitting outfits in multiple shades of black and grey, with occasional mix of white. Paired with occasional bright violet jewelry and an crystal headed cane.

| Moody | Stubborn | Doesn't believe in god | Rash | Intelligent | black cat-like personality |
| Rather Tactless at times | Naive regarding human behavior | Sneaky | Like Extravagant and Shiny Things |
| Cheapskate | Love of Money |
Though untrusting of adults, Soel considers himself as quite the trustable kind of one. Kind to children who are kind, while snarky to those who aren't. Stubborn, and untrusting of many people, Soel put up quite abit of walls up, and is very hard for people to get to know him well. Much less for him to consider someone his friend.
[Other]
Despite Soel's hard effort on staying lowkey, he has earned quite the reputation in the dark market and the slums, for being an excellent source of information, and kind to children. But also for the fact that no matter how complicated, dangerous, or ridiculous of a job you have, as long as you pay the correct price, Soel was willing to take.
Just so you know, he has never failed a single task before.
Also just so you know. Never mention doing any harm to children infront of him, or else it would be off with your head.

Palpad:Soel and his mother grew up in a
church after his father kicked them out, inwhich that naturally
subjected him into discrimination, bullying and isolation and more
regarding the fact that Soel didn't look like any other human
being. Naturally, as Soel and his mother were living in the more
human flooded side of the empire, Soel spent most of his life in
the church. They were taught to believe and pray to god whenever
they can, and when they have prayed vigorously, one day, when you
are in serious trouble, god shall graciously descend, and make all
your troubles go away.
As Soel was young and naive at that time, he like any other naive human children, believed the legends all the same, and prayed piously, Soel prayed especially hard. He'd pray right when he woke up, before each meal, and right before he feel asleep. Every time he prayed, he prayed that the people who surrounded him, would no longer isolate him, they would treat him with kindness, his mother would no longer need to suffer, ect-
But all those endless praying and hoping came crashing down when his mother suddenly died. People said that she killed herself.
But Soel knew better. He knew how much harshness his mother went through just for their livelihood. He knew how much shame, and humiliation she had to suffer, just to get a piece of bread in their tight little cramp room. But the people from the church said that his mother killed herself?! It was right then, that from that moment on, Soel stopped piously praying, no, he stopped believing in god all together. If god did exist, then why didn't he save his mother?
If god did exist, then how could he not see how much his mother had to suffer just to get a scrap of food on their table? Perhaps it was from a moment of rashness, Soel set the church on fire. Burning it with the people still inside. Soel made sure that the church burned to ground, without a single scrap left, especially not a single bone. From that moment on, it was unsure what Soel went through, or what he did. He continued to follow his mother's advice and hide his identity as an Aferi, and live in hidden, while working extremely hard to earn as much money as possible as an ordinary human being.
But one day, due to an unknown accident, Elehah's identity as an Aferi came out into the open by someone, and one of his wings were torn off. In fear and panic, while filled with overwhelming pain, he fled from the empire, with food and his very little belongings.
From then on, he could wrap his upper body with rolls of bandages to prevent his wings from sprouting behind him. Despite the fact that it was uncomfortable, that was the only way he knew on how to live a normal life. Living in hidden amongst the human, while staying far, far away from the scrutiny eyes of other Aferis.

ISFJ The Caregiver | 2w1 The Companion
They tend to be altruistic and purposeful in their behavior. They have the will to alleviate human suffering and desire love and acceptance above all else. They are service-oriented and humble, seeking to help better the lives of those in their community.
In their unassuming, understated way, they help make the world go round. Hardworking and devoted, people with this personality type feel a deep sense of responsibility to those around them. They can be counted on to meet deadlines, remember special occasions, uphold traditions, and shower their loved ones with gestures of care and support. But they rarely demand recognition for all that they do, preferring instead to operate behind the scenes.
She is capable, with a wealth of versatile gifts. Though sensitive and caring, Defenders also have excellent analytical abilities and an eye for detail. And despite their reserve, they tend to have well-developed people skills and robust social relationships.
Celine cares deeply for others, even those considered unworthy. She believes that everyone has something to fight for, their voices to be heard and respected. She loves her classmates, and will be friends with whoever wishes to be friends with her. She has always had strong objections towards the ranking and social status idea, believing everyone should get equal chances to fight for what they wish. She feels bad for the “weaklings” of the world, and wishes she could provide them with the needed opportunities, and she pains for the “mighty”, who will be seen as nothing more than tools and weapons for the war. She pities the “snobby”, as they can’t see past the cloud of disorient and accept others for who they are. Celine bears no resentment to those two-winged people, believing all are of equal worth.
That doesn’t mean Celine is too soft to spot those of unchanging evil though. Whilst she still believes and hopes for them to change, once Celine has determined that you are truly “evil”, then you can very well say goodbye to the fiercely loyal and kindhearted girl. Instead, you will be met with a girl with uncontrollable fury and a desire to protect those she loves. Once you mess with her feelings (and friends), Celine can push aside those feelings of compassion and empathy, becoming a ruthless killer until her family is safe. Naturally, she would feel a bit guilty afterwards, having caused bloodshed, but she won’t dwell too much on it as she knows she has fulfilled the duty of care towards her loved ones.
Celine, whilst the sweet angel warrior she may appear to be, Celine has been pushed over the edge before. There are times where certain traumatic or emotional incidents have caused her to snap, losing herself amidst the chaos. In this state, she is a seemingly uncontrollable force with zero compassion, attacking with a fury that could rival the storms she faces. She can only be calmed down by her friends, or strangely enough, a classical piece played on the flute- Edvard Grieg - Schmetterling, Op. 43/1
