A figure stands before you. You bat your eyes a little, trying desperately to get a better look at them. How did you get here? What is this place? Did they do this?
Finally, your wishes get granted, and you finally take a big glance at all the new things revealed to you. A large city. A lot of people. Either normal or completely foreign to you.
"Welcome, all!" the figure speaks out. You see them clearly now. A small, griffin-looking person. They have all kinds of materials stuck to them in disguise as 'clothes'. They wink at you as they see you staring at them. "Welcome to your new future for the time being. Prison Borough."
They step up into a flying podium being held up by a human-wyvern hybrid. "To those who are lost, without a partner, or simply just new to town, I am pleased to announce that your spouses will be assigned to you soon. Just walk over to my buddy Wy here and he'll tell you aaaall about it," They clap the wyvern's shoulders. Wy - you assume? - simply nods and flies down to Earth, welcoming all the prisoners flooding to him. You shrug your shoulders. Better just go over to him.
Geira massages her head carefully. She should probably know what all this stuff is about, but she doesn't. She's heard about wyverns and all that stuff from tales told by the old men and people with humor, but she'd never imagine that they'd ever exist...
Always one to obey commands, she walks over to the wyvern guy, her tail wagging slightly from side to side from sheer excitement before she finally notices and sets it straight.
Wy nods to her. She nods to him.
"Name?"
"Geira Elliðadóttir."
He checks the little tablet he has in his hands. It's a little funny to see a guy with such big hands handle such a little object. He finally looks up.
"Your partner is a girl named Xeraphina Alexina. You'll live by Short Street 23. Down by the path over there," he points off in a direction. Geira has no idea which. "Your partner will have been given the same information. If you haven't seen anyone with the name 'Xeraphina' by Short Street 23 when the day is over, report back here."
He hands her a map and a little nametag. She obediently sticks it on her coat and gets on her way to Short Street.
Walking over to Wy and waiting for her turn to talk to him, she took another look at all the 'people' that were here with her. For the most part, they were all some kind of humanoid creature, exhibiting traits of different creatures along with human ones. She walked closer to Wy as the "line", although it was more of a crowd, moved up. She gave a little sigh and waited.
"She-Viper... Myrcine Sarrea, right? Your partner goes by the name Darian Forgroth. You'll live by a place named Happy Fun 12. I don't actually know if it's Happy Fun. I've never been. It's a bit too colorful. Report back to me if you haven't seen a guy named Darian in the next 24 hours."
He hands out the name tag and map and moves on to the next person in the queue.
"Wings... Clouds... Lin Mizayaki, right? I love your, um... hoodie," he looks down at the table as to restrain himself to make more awkward comments. "Leo Pin is your new spouse. Congratulations. You're set to live by a place named Griffon Alley 2. You can... maybe guess who it's called after. Hah."
He facepalms internally as another weird comment escapes his lips. He hands out the name tag and map, states the 24 hour procedure, and moves on.
He gets a bit shocked at the next person. Just... an ordinary human? Humans weren't exactly.. nice to him, back on his own planet, but oh well. Just doing the job.
"Freja Azurine. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Your spouse is a guy named Izumi. You'll reside by a place named Lynx Woods 30. There isn't actually a forest or anything. Just a couple of trees."
He hands out the name tag and map and goes over the procedures again.
You know the first rule in combat? Shoot them before they shoot you.
"Um... you... you are in prison, yes... but it's okay! I'm sure it's fine. You're fine. I'm in prison too, right?" He laughs nervously. Rock didn't prepare him for therapy lessons!
He directs his attention towards the newcomer - June - who is practically... no, literally bouncing up and down the walls. "This is Prison Borough. You'll be spending your time here for uh... a while."
He breathes in, and prepares a simple explanation. "So, um... the whole spouse thing is basically just to introduce some morale to the town. Y'know, how some people might act more accordingly if they have someone to act for..." he waves with his hand. "Even us 'big guys' sitting here have one. You might harbour romantic feelings for your spouse or not. It's... probably best if you don't, though. You guys will be separated as soon as you get better..."
As he says the last bit, he looks off into the distance after the griffon. He grows a small smile.
"A-anyways! June! Of... The Power Plant? Is that your surname? Your spouse is the lovely Sukuna Shine. You live by a place called Happy Fun 14. I still don't know if it's as fun as the name suggests..."
He hands her the map and name tag, explaining the procedures again.
Like an oleander
So, for months on end, she had sat alone with only the stone and the turbulence of her own thoughts for company. She had knotted her pale fingers together, white locks dull and lacking shine, mimicking the empty state of her mind. Trapped away from the sunshine and the moon and rain.
White white leaves of an oleander.
Understandably, her companion, a fit yet playful Doberman, Stance didn't seem so perturbed. His ebony tail was in fact wagging slightly, nose to the ground to absorb all the different scents. He was built for speed and for hunting. In Tierney's opinion, a more regal dog had never lived, and she reached down to caress the smooth fur on the Doberman's head and neck; Stance wriggled eagerly in response, tongue lolling from his powerful jaws. Just leave it up to her dog to take this as one large adventure. The dog wouldn't understand for the life of him that his owner had committed a crime (or would he?) and Tierney wanted to keep it that way. At least then she knew that he wouldn't leave her. Dobermans are loyal dogs, loyal to the end.
White like me
Tierney had a good sense that this wasn't a tourist attraction, and the name of the city — Prison Borough. What a way to add insult to injury. Was this her sentence following conviction? It didn't seem so bad. These people seemed jovial enough, as if Tierney had arrived at some tropical resort instead of a city for criminals. If anything, it seemed as if they wanted her to enjoy herself. With some measure of apprehension, the albino female approached the men in front, blending into the crowd without a whisper. And what a crowd it was! Composed of every manner of supernatural creature conceivable by man, with varying appendages. Well, well, talk about diversity. One thing they all had in common; they were all wondering what they were doing here. The girl had no memory of coming here, just a groggy sense of her surroundings, and she was consumed briefly by alarm. Not knowing how you got to one place usually means that she was here against her will. Alright. So she was here against her will, but no one had tried to kill her. She needed to get as much information as possible on what she was doing here, and possibly use that to her advantage.
A voice tickled her ear, singing with glee and benevolence, like a famous singer at a concert. She automatically turned her attention toward them, keeping her ears perked for any important details. Tierney was quite surprised to find they were not human at all. They had wings and a beak, like a bird yet certain other features felt feline to her. Lionlike. "Welcome, all!" They said gaily. "To those who are lost, without a partner, or simply just new to town, I am pleased to announce that your spouses will be assigned to you soon. Just walk over to my buddy Wy here and he'll tell you aaaall about it!"
Wy? A wyvern? This day was becoming weirder and weirder by the second. Stance's tail was wagging slowly while his nose probed the air curiously. Tierney's own curiosity was piqued, stirring in her chest at the chance of seeing a real dragon. It wasn't until she reached him that the real meaning of the words hit her. "Did he just say...spouse?" I'm getting married? That couldn't be true! She had been shipped here against her will and now there was going to be an arranged marriage. Absolutely preposterous. Marriage should stem from consent, not from last-minute, back-door decisions made behind her back. Besides, as long as Tierney had remembered, she had only worked alone. Working with others was practically an excuse for them to betray you and cast them aside, as her own mother had cast her daughter astray, leaving her to pick up the remnants of her own mistakes. The albino had been cursed by the albinism of her mother, and then used and discarded. No mother should treat their child that way.
And if you leave me, rest assured it would kill me
So bitter was the bile that pooled in Tierney's maw that she barely heard when the wyvern began to speak. "Oh, hello there, you're Tierney Kyle, I presume" The albino briefly scowled, only slightly furrowing her brows before she corrected him "It's Jackie, but it's fine. First times an' all. I understand." The albino casually smiled, offsetting her previous displeasure, a dichotomy prone to giving people whiplash.
Tierney wasn't interested in learning the name of her spouse, which just so happened to be Revron, so she moved away from the group. Stance bumped against her leg reassuringly, as if he was trying to tell her that everything was going to be alright. Or maybe he was just excited to explore. This was a new place full of so many new smells. They should probably get moving anyway, since there was no point lingering around. She had no idea or motivation to find Revron, so wherever he was, he would have to find her. The albino female gathered up Stance's leash in her hands and was just about to depart when a sprite jumped into her face, their visage an expression of wicked, childish delight and a sugary squeal dancing from her lips to sing in the space before them.
[ tlrdr; tierney arrived, she has a dog, she is NOT happy with the spouse idea and she has no intention of waiting for revron to show up, and she is about to leave and junebug just dashed into her face because she loves dogs ]
Revron just stares as he approaches Wy, sneaking confused (more like scared) glances to the weird one who just stabbed herself with a syringe. prison is fine, better than being killed at least. and the place seems kinda ... fun.
"hello. um. so. this is kinda wack. wait I'm guessing you have some barrier stuff so we cant escape by flying right? just a thought... i heard we have spouses? do we have to have them? are we expected to have children too?? how did you get all the creatures here?" revron rambled on, eyeing every part that he could see. he did not expect to be taken here after he was found.

oh hey what's this
it stinging. She collected the clouds in a pile and before she let them dissolve, she thought. A companion would be nice. She shaped it into a medium-sized axolotl and looked at her creation. "I'm going to name you Fog," she whispered. At her words, the cloud came to life and flew around her head. She laughed. At last, after years of solitude, she had company. "Hello," she whispered softly to Fog. "Hello!" it replied and Lin looked stunned at the cloud-animal. "You can talk?" she asked. "Why of course!" it laughed. "I can also change shape at your request," Lin was amazed. She looked at Fog and after a moment of hesitation, hugged it. She hadn't shown any remote signs of affection in over 10 years. Lin wasn't used to it.
