The people around him, all sorts of characters for sure, quiet and noisy, half-dead or brimming with life, all of them were just about the most annoying bunch to Sable in that moment. (His logic told him that perhaps he was the blame for this opinion, not engaging in their conversations, but he quickly shoved this logic to the side.) He picked up small bits of conversation, yes, nicknames, talks about Gods, but none that he had interest in participating in. Really, the only thing Sable wanted to participate in was going home.  Name: Sable Pearl Age: 22 years old Pronouns: she/him Gender: Probably genderfluid but the festival is on so he doesn't really care about that rn Race: Harengon/Rabbitfolk Class: Enchanter Magic/Weaponry: Although Sable finds magic exciting to study, actually using his own magic is a whole different story. He doesn't like being close to it, doesn't like the idea of it being his, and instead often calls it her "staff's magic" instead of her own. He finds lightning magic the most interesting to study, the action of being able to summon and manipulate lightning incredibly appealing. She has much to learn, though, as her only feat so far is creating a little jolt that barely toasted his morning bread, or another that didn't go quite as far as it should. Personality: loyal . arrogant (?) . goal-oriented Though his voice is soft and careful, Sable has experienced enough backhanded compliments for him to be anything else than direct in his conversations. She acts confident through her sheer bluntness, but time will reveal that she is terribly nervous in just about anything she does. She's the type of person to stop at nothing to fulfill her goals when she has her heart set on something, but it may be hard for her to gain the needed motivation. She doesn't handle expectations very well. Appearance:  i'll draw him soon but. this for now. Backstory: Growing up as the second child in a respectable family, Sable has always had multiple eyes on him, both judgmental and kind. Sable always thought, as is typical for families with skyscraper egos, that his magic would be quite a spectacle when he gained it. Yet, when the time finally came for him as a adolescent, way older than he should've been according to family tradition, every expectation came to a crashing halt when she discovered her magic could never compare to that of her older sibling's. Sable was, although his family would never phrase it this way, shoved to the side. This wasn't ideal, obviously, but Sable was content to sit idly by and just come to terms with his weak magic - if it hadn't been for the fact that his older sibling had disappeared shortly before the festival of this year took place. Suddenly, attention was brought on her, hurrying her out the door, requiring her to take her sibling's place in the festival. Other: For songs, I had imagined Sable fitting both the insert theme Kakusei from Kamen Rider Blade, and the song sister by Eve. He gulps instinctively as he listens to Amalie talk. There's a certain vibe around her way of formulating herself, nearing the level of any royal or noble, that's hard to dismiss. He hasn't really taken time to think about why the Queen acts like she does, just assumed that it's part of the fact of being… The Queen. But it's true, isn't it? If she had reacted strongly, there would be an outrage. She has to be composed at all times, even in moments of absolute terror. 'Well, it's not like such extremes would happen anytime soon.' She thinks. “You're absolutely right!” He raises his fist in the air in an excited motion. “We'll do everything in our power to protect the kingdom!” Or, well, he assumes they'll do their best anyway. Clef Tilting his head in reaction to Amalie's words, he opts to think of them as positive. She said 'better' in that sentence, which can be inflected to mean best, right? So he's the best at something, that's really nice of her. He puffs out his chest a little more, standing more proud than ever. He beams at her, right until he has to cover his eyes, lest he loses his vision by the reflection on the shield. With his hands in front of his face, his response becomes a tad muffled. “You're darn right, nothing will happen! We're respected knights, we must serve that position well, no matter what may come our way!” He shouts a little loudly, his confidence overflowing at that moment, although he retracts his voice a moment later to add in a detail in a hushed whisper. “Although, I do admit, the Queen did spook me a little… I mean, how can anyone not be affected?” David She tries to proceed as normal with her schedule, but she'd be a fool to not notice the dejected feel in her surroundings.
