The Crystalline Heart...

Welcome to the Land of Oria, home to thousands upon thousands of creatures, all full of life and magic. Everything on this mystical planet is powered by one, single thing, at the very center of it all... the Crystalline Heart. It is the main source of all nine types of magic for this land; Fire, Water, Life, Mineral, Sky, Thunder, Psychic, Ghost, and Normality. These nine elements make up the foundation for the entire world. Filled with unfathomable power, the Crystalline Heart is a staple to the well-being and survival of Oria itself. Unfortunately, some creatures get greedy. Zorin, a human, decided to take his greed to the next level, and he spent all his life searching for the Crystalline Heart to harness its power, and he came dangerously close. Desperate to protect itself, the Heart split itself up into nine crystals, infusing those crystals with all of the magic from one of the nine types. The Crystals then chose nine heroes to hold them and harness their power so that they could stop Zorin once and for all.

Now you are chosen as a hero, to save this once-beautiful world from the brink of war and destruction. Your story starts here, young hero, as you find your Crystal and make a journey like none have ever gone on before. Find new friends, new enemies, and a new world. It is imperative to the survival of this land that you save us...

As you begin another day, you feel a tug from your Crystal, almost as if it wants you to go somewhere...

Faun sat on a broken tree stump, the rest of the tree having fallen down behind them. They rolled their pretty blue Crystal around in their hand, gazing at its sparkling depths. The forest that had once been so lively, always chattering with the noise of the beasts all around, had now become silent and empty. More trees died every day, and the forest was decreasing in size. The only beast that ever came around or showed itself to Faun anymore was their own companion, Shiver. Then, Faun began to feel a pulling sensation deep within, like its gut was trying to get it to move, to go somewhere. It looked around, but all it saw were dying trees. Then, it looked upwards, over the treetops, and saw the far-off tip of a mountain. After seeing the mountain, the tugging sensation became stronger. Perhaps they were supposed to go there... but why? They didn't want to leave their forest... it supposed it had been sitting on that tree stump for too long now, though. There was nothing there anymore for it, so might as well venture beyond its home.

Faun hung the Crystal, which was threaded through a thin string, back on their horn like some sort of earring, and stood up. They called Shiver to them by summoning their Aura, but they knew it would take a little bit for Shiver to arrive, so they started walking. As they walked, they pulled up their leather journal and flipped it open to the next blank page and began to write, soon getting lost in thought and only looking up to avoid running into a tree, or a bush, or a rock. It didn't know exactly where it was going, or how it was going to get to the mountain, but it knew that if it kept following the pulling sensation it ought to lead it at least out of the forest. Perhaps beyond the forest looked better than inside its borders. Or maybe it looked worse. There was only one way to find out.

As of right now, all Crystals have been taken! We will wait until all reserved Crystals have finished their form, and to see if anyone would still like to join Neutral, and then we will start.

Only one person may have a certain Crystal. For example, if the Crystal of Mineral were taken, another character could not have that Crystal. I apologize for not stating this clearly, and I hope this answered your question. If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to PP/PM me and I’ll gladly address them there. :)

The Crystalline Heart...

There was once a land so beautiful and full of life, it is hard to picture in the mind. Luscious lands, beautiful landscapes, and mystical creatures that held amazing powers. These creatures inhabited the land, their sentience growing as they adapted and evolved, forming a flourishing society that prospered with the land's magic. This land's beauty and wonder all stemmed from a single thing: at the very core of the planet was a giant crystal that held immense power, called the Crystalline Heart. It supplied the land with life, with growth, with peace, and most of all, with magic. The creatures of this land lived in harmony with it, using its magic gifts to help their society grow, while taking care of the land and making sure everything lived in perfect harmony.

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end eventually. So is the way of the world. Humans lived on this land as well, and for a long time, they lived alongside the other creatures, peace allowing them to grow at their own pace, developing technology and science. There was one thing that set them apart, however; their lack of magic. They relied on their brain's development alone, and for a long time, that was enough for them. Eventually, however, as is the human nature, they began to want more. They grew jealous of the other creatures, and they tried to gain magic abilities themselves. The only thing that could give a creature born with no magic a gift, however, was a piece of the Crystalline Heart itself... a Crystal. Depending on the piece of the Heart you received, you would gain that magical power. No human had ever been able to gain access to a Crystal before, though, and they were left without magic for centuries. One day, however, that changed. A human was born, a human named Zorin, whose hunger for power made him a terrifying threat. He longed for magic, and when the other creatures denied him of it, he decided to take it all for himself. He made it his mission to find the Crystalline Heart and capture its magic for himself, all of it to be harnessed by him, making him the strongest in all the land. There was one issue with this, however... the Crystalline Heart held too much power to be harnessed by one individual alone. If it was even attempted, that power would destroy the creature from the inside out in a heartbeat, and the world would dissolve into nothing but a fragment of chaos. Without the stable magic supplied by the Crystalline Heart, the world would crumble and all beasts and creatures living on it would slowly lose their magic and die.

Ignoring this fact, Zorin persisted, and searched all his life to find a way to the Crystalline Heart... and he came dangerously close. Desperate to protect their land, the other creatures tried to reason with Zorin, but he didn't listen, so they resorted to violence. On the brink of war, with the peace shattered and the harmony disrupted, the Crystalline Heart began to break. To protect itself and its land, the Heart split itself up into nine Crystals, each imbued with one of the nine main magic types. These were different from the regular Crystals, however, because these Crystals held all of the magic from that one type, not just a fragment. They hid themselves among the creatures, in the land, sea, and sky, and chose nine heroes to hold them and harness their power. Once aware that the Heart had split apart, Zorin dedicated himself to finding and capturing all nine Crystals. Even though many creatures resisted his reign, he had already built up a strong following, and he turned it into his own army. Now, with so much social power he was nearly unstoppable, Zorin just had to find the Crystals and obtain their power for his own. With the world on the brink of war, no land safe from Zorin's destruction as he tears apart the very earth itself to satisfy his greed, this planet needs you more than ever. Will you answer the Heart's call and accept the magic it has gifted you? Read on if you are willing to risk it all to save everything you've ever known...

CRYSTAL POWERS
Show hidden content

The Crystal of Fire
This Crystal holds the power of fire, seeding destruction and chaos. It represents the very idea of chaos, untamed and rebellious, with a passion and spirit like none ever seen. It cannot be withheld, it yearns to be let free, but with practice it can be controlled. It is the most destructive and dangerous of magic, but it can be used for good as well. It often grants the user abilities of pyrokinesis or withstanding fires and temperatures so high they would normally kill the usual creature. The Crystal is a deep, fiery red with a red-orange hue, it's the largest Crystal, and it's warm to the touch.

The Crystal of Water
Often described as the opposite of the Crystal of Fire, this Crystal has a calm feeling to it, like the waves in an ocean. It has a sense of patience and understanding that does not come with the chaos of Fire, and it is much more reserved yet still incredibly powerful. It is the one counter to fire, and yet it still holds much power. If left unchecked, it can be just as destructive, and it takes a massive amount of control to keep it together. However, it was built to be utilized and controlled, and it is much easier to gain control over its power, even if it does prove a bit of a challenge. The Crystal of Water often grants the user the ability to manipulate/summon water, cause it to rain or storm, or even to create ice or hail. Rarely ever more than one ability is gifted, however. This Crystal is a deep, ocean blue, with swirls of darker and lighter shades and bubbles held still in its depths. It is the one medium size of all the Crystals, and it is often cool to the touch.

The Crystal of Life
This Crystal is the most peaceful of them all, a peaceful and prosperous aura always surrounding it. Life and joy follows wherever it goes, and its magic is the most revered among the creatures. It gifts life, hope, and peace, and it is the magic most harmed by the oncoming war. It wishes not for violence, but for everything to go back to the way it once was. Its magic is rarely ever used to attack or bring harm to others, and instead is used to heal and grow crops or plants. Its magic often grants the user the ability to use life energy to heal their comrades, the ability to manipulate plant life (control how they grow/behave), and even the ability to communicate with plants and forests. This Crystal's coloration is light green with a dash of brown, with dozens of miniature flowers and plants blossoming within it. It is smaller in size, and its temperature is always a hint warmer than the temperature around it.

The Crystal of Mineral
The Crystal of Mineral represents the earth, the dirt, and all the ores and minerals underneath it. It is the symbol of stubbornness, righteousness, and loyalty. This Crystal has the oldest magic of the land, and it is very often underestimated because not many creatures use it anymore. It is not one for picking a side, often remaining neutral, but it does understand what is right and will stand up for itself if it must. Its magic includes being able to create/control tunnels out of earth, being able to summon/manipulate minerals and riches from underneath the earth, and having the ability to create sinkholes or quicksand out of solid dirt. It is a dark brown color, getting darker towards the bottom of the Crystal, with specks of color representing the ores of the earth hidden beneath the surface. It is constantly room temperature, and it is only a bit smaller than the Crystal of Fire.

The Crystal of Sky
This Crystal represents freedom and breaking free from bonds or chains, never fully contained or constrained to one place or time. It does form bonds, it is not quite as chaotic as Fire, but it dislikes following rules and it does not choose many to hold it. It has a tendency to disappear, and its magic doesn't always follow through. It can be quite chaotic, but it does follow some sort of code, and it can be very powerful when required. This Crystal often gifts its holder the ability to control/summon the winds to fly, or to use the wind to create sharp, ice-like daggers. Creatures born with this magic are often born with wings. If you want your character to have wings once they find this Crystal, you may, but that must act as their magical ability. This Crystal is only slightly smaller than the Crystal of Water, its coloration being a clear blue sky with a few clouds, changing in color gradually, and lined with silver streaks. It is often ice cold to touch.

The Crystal of Thunder
This Crystal represents rebellion and tricks, and it is most definitely one for practical jokes. Its magic is the most unpredictable and unruly of them all, and it seems to find it enjoyable to cause just a bit of inconvenience. It has a knack for joking around and causing power outages every once and a while, but it can be relied on when necessary. Most dislike this magic, the only ones who choose to use it being almost matches to the Crystal itself- excitable, unpredictable, and jokesters. It most often grants the user the ability to control/summon lightning or electricity, being able to control the weather to an extent and summoning thunderstorms and such, or combining the two and summoning a bolt of lightning. Its coloration is an electric yellow with storm clouds rolling across its surface often, changing color along with the weather. Occasionally, the pattern will change suddenly, and within a few minutes the weather will change to that as well. Those with strong control over their magic can harness this ability as well. It is moderately sized, and whenever held there is a large chance to receive a static shock.

The Crystal of Psychic
The most mysterious of Crystals, this is the magic most creatures know the least about. It is feared for that reason, and those who can harness its magic are distrusted and feared as well. It is shrouded in mystery, the only things known about it and its magic very little and only adding to its slight creepiness. Its magic includes telepathy, telekinesis, and mind reading, and on the rare occasion, creating illusions/delusions. It is an eerie pink color, with constantly moving black spirals in the middle swirling hypnotically. The smallest of the Crystals, but most certainly not the least powerful, touching it induces a small feeling of dizziness for a few moments.

The Crystal of Ghost
This Crystal represents the connection between the living and the dead, and everything in-between. It holds a special connection to the spiritual world, and most creatures don't trust it. It is the most misunderstood magic, and those who use it are deemed untrustworthy or dangerous. It has a creepy aura to it, and its dark magic is feared yet somewhat respected among the creatures of society. This magic includes being able to summon and commune with the dead, dark magic (such as using incantations and spells to cast blasts of Phire (like Fire but dark and purple) or to curse people. It also allows for resurrection magic, the most dangerous of all magics. It allows the user to return a living thing from the dead, to revive it, but it takes a deadly amount of precision and power, and if it fails the consequences are disastrous. It has never worked so far.), and the ability to shadow-travel. Its coloration is a deep purple-black, with swirls of dark gray and white splashes that occasionally move around to form skulls. Depending on the magic being used, this Crystal varies in size. Despite being warm to the touch, this Crystal sends chills down one's back when held.

The Crystal of Normality
This Crystal represents finding common ground and being able to resolve conflicts through peaceful means, and while it does not like violence, it will indeed step in when and where it is needed. It has a unique ability, and its magic is quite rare to find, most of the races of creatures who ones used it all but extinct by now. Only younger than the Crystal of Mineral, this magic is not common to stumble upon, but it is truly a sight to see. It grants the user the ability to speak with beasts, and even control them to some extent. Those who are gifted with this magic can summon beasts to their side, beasts that were blessed with all kinds of magic, even if the user cannot use such magic themself. Often mistaken for neutrality, this Crystal can use its voice to reason, and when that doesn't work, it can summon an army (to an extent- there is a limit, but still). Now, what is the difference between creatures and beasts? Their sentience. Beasts are much like animals- they cannot speak any of the languages created by the creatures of this land, and they can only understand so much of society and culture. The Crystal of Normality holds sway over all of the beasts of the land, big or small, and all beasts respect and revere it as such. Its coloration is a bland sandy color with almost no variation, and it is barely smaller than the Crystal of Mineral.

Now, those are all of the different types of magic and their Crystals, but there is one more thing you must know about; Neutrality. This refers to creatures, or even beasts, who were born with no magic ability. Most often, it is a race that was not gifted with it when they came into existence, such as humans. On rare occasion, however, some magical creatures/beasts will be born with no magic ability. The only way to change this is to find a Crystal, although most never do. If a creature that comes from a race usually blessed with magic is born Neutral, they are usually not accepted and cannot do things most other creatures can. I will accept a few Neutrals, but no more than 3.

Character's name: Faun

Age: About 612 (young for their species)

Pronouns: It/they

What kind of creature are they? An Aura Guardian (a type of creature that, at a certain age [800-1,000 yrs], is assigned another creature, usually one with little to no magic, to protect. They guard that creature's magic "aura" [all creatures have one] until it can form into some type of magic, or stronger magic if they already had some. Most often it does not work, and they simply protect their creature for the rest of their creature's life, but on the rare occasion that it does, that creature becomes one of the strongest magic users in the land. There has been no account of an Aura Guardian allowing a creature of Neutrality to gain magical abilities, and most Aura Guardians are unknown to all creatures except their own. Aura Guardians are creatures born Neutral, with a special gift of insight that allows them to see and protect a creature's magic aura.)

Appearance:

It carries a leather journal colored pale violet hung across its side like a satchel by a thin black leather strap. This journal has everything they've ever experienced inside of it, and it is their most cherished possession.
Their Crystal is worn strung on their left horn by a thread.

Personality: Observant and with a much quieter demeanor, much like the rest of their species, Faun prefers to keep to itself, preferring not to speak but using other methods of communications instead, such as morse code. It has quite the keen eye and can pick up on other creatures' emotions, with quite an intuitive mind and a knack for solving puzzles. They are quite smart, and while they're not exactly shy, they are most certainly not the most outgoing creature. It loves to spend its time around the beasts of their native woods, and it has made many friends this way, but it is not the most accepted creature among their species or even much beyond. Since it is young, it is not a full Guardian yet, and it is not trusted with a creature to protect. Because of this, they have a lot more time to themself, and they enjoy spending this time with music or speaking in a peculiar tongue to the beasts around them.

Backstory: [TBRPd]

Crystal: the Crystal of Water

Magical Ability: Summoning blades of ice out of freezing water to attack/defend.

Other/Extra: There is a beast that began following Faun around, and now it keeps it as a travel companion. They can summon the beast, who they named Shiver, whenever they like, but it is the only beast that ever listens to them.

PalPad? Yuppers :)

Password: Faun cannot eat... so... I guess it likes the smell of sweet foods.

Jumping at the sound of the voice again, Fiddle glanced around, trying to figure out where it was coming from. They didn't know what it said, but it didn't sound dangerous, so they began to relax. Then they noticed the sheer amount of people in this weird white room with them. Nervous and afraid of all the strangers, Fiddle reached for a stuffed animal, before remembering that they had not arrived with any. Strapping their fiddle onto their back once more, they decided it would at least be better to walk around and scope out the room than sit around doing nothing.

They began to walk, avoiding the other people but still examining them from a distance. They couldn't hear what anyone was saying, but there seemed to be some peculiar creatures in the mix, ones they'd never seen before from their kingdom. Curious but still afraid to approach, Fiddle continued to perambulate along the perimeter of the room, walking so far they could barely see the others behind them. They didn't know how far the room went on for, but they kept their hand on the wall beside them, determined to find an end. Maybe even a way out.

Fiddle sat at one of the corners, listening with their hood pulled over their eyes. They flinched when the voice came on, and when the lights dimmed, and when someone started singing. It was a weird song… but it caught their attention. They couldn’t understand the lyrics, but it sounded… interesting, to say the least. It certainly wasn’t to their musical taste, but music was a universal language, so maybe they could communicate that way. Besides, the wall seemed to respond when the others spoke to it, at least on occasion, so perhaps they could do the same with music. They absolutely despised the idea of playing in front of all these strangers, but maybe it could give them an advantage. They checked, for the millionth time, to see if their fiddle was still strapped to their back. Sure enough, as it had been when they arrived, it was safe in its case and pressed against the wall that Fiddle was huddling beside.

Reaching over their shoulder, they grabbed the case and opened it, taking out the fiddle and casually preparing it. Nobody else seemed to notice this- Fiddle had gone a ways away from the group to escape all their noise. Soon enough, they were ready to play. Taking a deep breath, they stood, fiddle and bow in hand, and began a song. It was soft, melodic, and slightly repetitive, like a reassuring phrase. This song included no words, but as the chords sounded throughout the white room, it gave a sense of calm and peace that hadn’t been there before. Assurance that it would be alright, almost a promise that it would all work out fine. Fiddle found themself believing their music’s words as they played, and soon the noise and clamor died down, all that they could hear was the soft tune of their instrument.

They couldn’t tell if it had any effect on the wall, but as they finished their song and stopped playing, the trance gradually broke, and the spell was gone. It had lasted a few minutes, but it felt like so much longer to Fiddle. Hopefully it worked… they didn’t want to listen to everyone bickering or talking or freaking out anymore.

Character Name: Brindle {Nickname: Fiddle}

Character's Universe: OC

Character's Age: Unknown, looks around 15 (acts young, though)

Personality: Brindle is a difficult person to describe. While they love companionship, they are absolutely terrified of strangers and will go out of their way to avoid talking to anyone new. Any friends they have were made years and years ago, as they're exceptionally good at keeping friends, just not that great at making them. Brindle is easily used and manipulated, though, and a lot of their friendships are toxic, leading them to distrust others even more. If they do decide to let you in, however, they become friendly, compassionate, and helpful, always willing to lend a hand and never turning their back when you need them. They're a wonderful friend and a good person at heart, they just get nervous around people and aren't good at vocalizing their thoughts/emotions.
They enjoy things much younger people would usually enjoy, such as stuffed animals, animated shows/cartoons, and taking part in otherwise childish activities. They're often teased for this, so they try to hide it around other people, but in their music they allow themself to indulge even a little bit.

Abilities: To put it simply: music. Brindle, more widely known as Fiddle, uses their magic to heal and inspire others through song and dance. They have a fiddle that they use to perform, and any music they play gets infused with magic and will attract even those most distasteful of tunes to listen. It's entrancing, and it can be used as a distraction, a defense mechanism, or a support item to heal themself or others. It cannot, however, be used to attack (unless you use the fiddle itself as a weapon- but I don't recommend it), it is only good for support and defense. Fiddle has played many, many songs over their lifetime, so they are quite skilled at using their magic and it doesn't drain them as fast as magic usually does in their world, but as they use more of it over a longer period of time it takes more and more of their energy. Also, their magic's effects are temporary. Whether they healed a wound (one of their more complicated spells) or trapped someone in a trance, since they're good at their magic if they concentrate it will last a bit longer after the music stops, but it's more of a temporary solution. Fortunately, playing the fiddle comes naturally to them, almost like an instinct, and playing their music feels more natural than being human (although I'm not quite sure if they ARE human... but still), so it's easy for them to play for longer periods of time.

Appearance: Fiddle has light brown hair and golden eyes that shine like fire in the light. Their head is covered by a hood made out of light fabric that connects to a black leather cloak, covering their entire upper body and half their legs. Long black socks cover the lower half of their legs, and they wear brown leather boots on their feet (good for hiking/outdoors). They appear to enjoy being hidden, never calling much attention with their appearance, and their fair and freckled skin easily blends into their surroundings. Connected to their hood is a black mask that covers their lower face, and they wear a shining crystal-clear pendant around their neck that glows multicolored when they use their magic.

Palpad: mmsure!

Password: Hmmhmhmmhm~ (like humming a melody)

Solstice was just about to head back inside when she heard Frost’s voice behind her. Turning, she saw her and Tesona descending to land beside her. She returned the question with a smile. “Not at all! I was going to the library to catch up on some reading.” She silently hoped that this would be able to take her mind away from those thoughts. It had been so long since she’d thought about her… but no, that was for another time. Right before Solstice turned back to keep walking, she felt something wet splash against her muzzle. They looked up, and another one plopped just near their eye. It was… raining? Solstice was not at all fond of getting wet, but what puzzled her was how the clouds had gathered so quickly. It was a clear, sunny day just minutes before… right? She couldn’t see much as the rain grew heavier, the winds picking up and whistling above, but something about this felt… wrong. She glanced back at Frost. “Was it supposed to rain today?” She asked, nervous and still eager to get back inside. She tucked her wings at her sides, trying not to get them wet, because while she was partially a plant dragon she could barely stand the rain.

When Freja entered the Grand Hall, it was almost like a darkness followed her wherever she stepped. She was careful not to draw attention to herself, but whispers and murmurs trailed behind her like a ripple through the crowd. She knew by now to simply ignore them, but the presence of Niyol made her grit her teeth in an attempt to stay calm. He was the kind of person she knew to stay away from, but she couldn't help but feel so greatly annoyed when he swept through the room, his arrogance almost insulting as she watched. She backed away, blending into the crowd, never casting her eyes downwards or acting nervous or afraid, but always carrying an air of invisibility. People only payed attention to her because of the rumors, and she would shoot a harsh glare to anyone who tried to approach her. Despite the message and the grave warning of what would happen if they didn't work together, Freja was not the least bit eager to make any friends, especially not with Aethlings of other courts. It was foolish to attempt to get along, and with so many different people in the room, Freja had difficulty trusting any of this would work.

Her eyes flitted around the room, picking out possible threats and studying individual faces. She was tense, her steely gaze able to freeze anyone in their tracks, but she was careful not to make eye contact with anyone. She didn't trust this one bit, and she was very unwilling to even talk to anyone else until someone trustworthy made a decision. If it was up to her, she would let things stay the way they are and see what happens, but she did not have the power to make a decision, so she stayed quiet, observing with a watchful eye and trying to fade into the shadows.

Solstice was left to her thoughts in the crowded cafeteria, as more and more dragons began finishing their breakfast and heading off to prepare for classes. She glanced towards the door, her mind wandering back to someone... something she wished to forget. She shook herself to rid her mind of the thoughts. Wow, she thought, I must really be losing it here. They pushed themself up from their seat, quickly ate the last of their food, and swiftly made their way out of the cafeteria. Perhaps they should meet Frost and Tesona in the yard, where she could warm her feathers and perhaps even stretch her wings. She did miss flying with... No! She walked faster, taking turns seemingly at random, the quiet halls almost beckoning her thoughts away. She had to clear her mind with fresh air.

Finally stepping outside, she breathed in the smell of the sun, the wind, and the plant life all around. Stepping out onto the grass felt so good it sent a ripple of delight through her feathers. She spotted Frost and Tesona flying in the air, and she smiled to herself. She found a spot bathed in sunlight and settled down on it, closing her eyes and feeling the warmth of the sun seep into her, chasing away her fear and empowering her wings with newfound energy. The grass underneath her almost seemed to cry out for her to use this energy, to fly, to soar through the sky and into the clouds. What better way to feel the sun's warmth than to go up into the sky itself?

So, standing back up and stretching in her warm little patch of sun, she spread her beautiful green wings which sparkled in the morning light. The sun had risen enough so its warmth could be felt across the entire school, and she held her breath in anticipation. With one strong flap, she had risen into the air, quickly gaining altitude and breaking the clouds in moments. She twirled in the sky, almost dancing in the air, doing loops and gliding and climbing and diving. She had forgotten what it felt like to fly like this, to feel so free... the last time she had flown so gracefully was with- Solstice snapped her head up, jerking to a halt in midair, their wings struggling to steady them as they pushed the thought away. No. Thinking about that will only bring you down, she scolded herself. Still, the thoughts kept flooding back, and it was everything she could do to keep the aching pain that tugged at her heart at bay. Sighing, she glided back down to the earth, setting down heavily on the ground, her eyes, instead of glistening in the sun, seemed almost broken in the shade. She decided to make her way to the library and distract themself with a book. Hopefully it would work this time.

Halu finally couldn't take it anymore. He left his half-eaten plate of fish at his lonely table and nearly stormed (no pun intended) out of the cafeteria, bumping into many the dragon on his way out. His mood had only worsened by the minute, and after being reminded of the catastrophe that was last night and the fact that his classes were today, he was not looking forward to spending another second around any dragons. He figured he should go back to his dorm to get ready for the day, severely hoping that there would be nobody there. Unfortunately, the crowds had begun shifting from the cafeteria into the halls as dragons drifted around to also prepare for their classes. This only made Halu more distressed, of course, and his eyes took on an almost stormy look to them, challenging anyone who gave him a weird glance with a glare. Finally, after pushing through the flow of students and snapping at more than one, he made it to his dorm, where he pushed open the door and saw multiple dragons there, chatting and joking and getting ready. He hissed under his breath and slammed the door shut again, whipping around in a huff. He heard complaints and shouts of protest from inside the room, but he was too upset to care at this point. He didn't know where to go to find peace and quiet. There were obviously going to be dragons in the library, studying, he didn't know any of the teachers and he couldn't go to the classrooms, his dorm was out of the question, and since breakfast was coming to an end the halls were filling once more.

The final straw was when Halu bumped into one particular dragon, they scolded him, and he snapped back. This time, however, they continued to argue. Halu hissed at them to move, and they refused, insisting he should apologize. They went back and forth, getting more and more heated, the dragon insisting over and over, and Halu getting more and more upset. Finally, he snapped. He was done. He was tired, he was sick of all the other dragons, and he had no place he could go to calm down. He shouted at them, raising his voice for the first time in a long, long time. His eyes seemed to flash with lightning and held the intensity of a storm cloud. And as they did so, a small rumble of thunder could be heard overhead. Of course, this only worsened the situation, and the two kept fighting, attracting a small crowd, until a teacher finally had to come break them up. Before the teacher could say anything, though, Halu cast a glare filled with unmasked hatred at the dragon he was fighting with and stormed off, seething with unfiltered rage. His distress had nowhere to go, his anger had no outlet, and his mind was racing despite being so mentally exhausted. It was finally all too much. He was sick of it. He weaved through groups of dragons dotting the halls, with no real destination, trying to calm himself down. He was so busy fuming he didn't even notice when the sound of heavy rain sounded along the rooftops. For the second day in a row, he had caused it to rain, and this time he had nowhere to turn to make it stop.

Solstice beamed and took the seat beside Frost. She nodded in acknowledgment to Tesona, pondering the question for a moment. “Hm… well, I suppose I haven’t seen the courtyard yet, and I do need to get some sun after last night. If you’re planning on going out to stretch your wings, I’ll follow you, if you don’t mind.” She still wanted to finish her book in the library, but she was eager to explore more of this vast school, and if they weren’t allowed to do anything dangerous fun, they might as well make the most of it.

Solstice hadn’t gotten all that much sleep after the whole crystal conundrum, staying awake to think, but she didn’t allow that to affect her mood. It would help her to go outside, though, and get a bit of sunlight to replenish her energy. She needed to be around more plants now that her anxieties about losing her powers have worsened. Nevertheless, she was glad to hopefully be making new friends. They ate their berries while listening politely to the conversation, occasionally chipping in when they had a thought to add. She figured it wouldn’t be that bad here. Maybe nothing like the night before would ever even happen again.

Solstice watched in awe as the dragon, or dragons, sang from the table. She couldn't help but smile, holding back laughter, at the enthusiastic and then much calmer music. It was certainly an interesting tune, but Solstice applauded them for being so brave in the large cafeteria. She would have been terrified to do that in front of so many people, singing being one of her skills that she held closest to her heart, but she was impressed by the way the two didn't interrupt each other. She decided to go over and say hi, hoping that she wasn't interrupting any conversations herself.

"Hi there," she greeted, walking up to Tesona and Frost with her tray, "do you mind if I join you? I couldn't help but overhear your little song, and I was more than impressed."

Halu sat at the far end of the cafeteria, where the least amount of dragons were. He had tried, over and over again, to get used to all the noise, but he finally figured he was just going to have to work around it. He gave a death glare to any dragon who got within 10 feet of him, the long and hectic night putting him in a bad mood. He flinched when the teacher yelled, and he tried to ignore the dragon singing about it afterwards. He didn't particularly like brooding in a dark corner alone, but he was so tired and fed up with the volume of the cafeteria that he wasn't in much of position to do anything else.

He barely even had an appetite anymore, but he had managed to eat a few fish and plants before finishing. He had no idea what the whole crystal ordeal of the night before would mean for the school, but he hoped that the chatter would die down soon. He wasn't sure how much more of the overlapping noise he could take.

Name -
Sylver S. Muûnë

Age -
16

Species -
Fairy

Appearance -

Specialty -
It is said that Sylver has the power of the moonlight itself, though you mustn't believe every rumor you hear. Their wings become surrounded by glowing particles at night, blessed with the ability to create illusions and trick the mind. These illusions are not very strong, they only work at night, and they work poorly on others who are expecting a trick. They also have a special bond with other creatures of the night, befriending and even speaking to the nocturnal animals of the forest, though only on rare occasion can they talk with them. Many rumors surround Sylver and his mysterious powers, and he often stays awake at night to escape from others. She feels most comfortable in the dark, with only the moon or his wings to give him light.

Personality -
During the day, when the sun is out, Sylver is anxious, quiet, and shy. She dislikes approaching people and dislikes others approaching her even more. They mostly keep to himself, and if they need to they will hide to get away from a ruckus. He hates big crowds and hates loud noises even more, and is easily startled and quick to scare.
When the sun falls, though, and the black blanket the night sky has to offer arises from dusk, it's as if they've become a whole other person. They're chatty, more positive, and much more confident in himself. However, at night, very few are awake, so he talks to the animals in and around the village that also stay up. He finds peace in the dark and quiet that nightfall brings, and he stays up late to enjoy it. He's tired the next day only because he's not allowed to sleep when there is work to be done. If you approach him at night (if you're awake), they would most likely be much more responsive than if you tried to speak with them during the day. Just don't sneak up on her, though. Even at night, when her senses are more attuned, she gets very easily startled, and she is still not the most courageous of the bunch.

Background/Extra Info -
Sylver was never raised to fear interaction, but he had always grown up alone, with few good friends, so they became wary of others. Soon, they began shutting others out on purpose to avoid being hurt. Eventually, they lost all their friends, until they found a lone black fox in the woods at night.
Sylver lives with his mother as an only child, and while he enjoys helping others, he's not often requested for jobs or chores, so he spends much of his daily life napping.

Password -
steve

Other -
Sylver doesn't have many fairy friends, and he's not good at talking to people, even at night, but that all disappears when they're around animals. One of his best friends is a fox that only appears right after everyone has gone to sleep. Everyone except for Sylver.
Sylver has a fear of abandonment and a fear of spiders. They are the only life form she absolutely refuses to get anywhere near.

Aethling's name and/or nicknames/titles:
Freja Azurine / The Raveness
Personality/Info.
To put it simply, Freja dislikes people. She prefers to work on her own and is most definitely not the best at communicating. While she has trust issues and dislikes working with others, she certainly has a sharp tongue and will speak out on anything she deems worthy of her attention. She hates acknowledging it, but she cannot stand injustice and will stand up for anyone who cannot stand up for themselves.
She tries to force out other people and avoids forming relationships because she’s afraid of hurting someone again, so she becomes cold and shuts everyone out in order to keep them away. She can’t stand the thought of losing another person close to her, and she has an intense fear of being abandoned.
She has very clear boundaries and pushes away anyone who steps too close to them. She’s concealed her emotions in a strong layer of ice, forcing out any warmth in an attempt to keep herself safe. She doesn’t trust herself or others enough to form another close relationship, though she will (begrudgingly) work as business partners with someone. Occasionally.
Stubborn and never quick to forgive, Freja will hold a grudge to the end of time if she must. She hates discussing her past, and she refuses to acknowledge success, always striving to be better than she was, this idea of ‘perfect’ imbedded within her mind from her childhood. Her attitude towards others and her brooding nature has earned her the nickname ‘The Raveness’, and whispers about her and what happened to her family follow her around like a haunting ghost.
Member of which Court:
Maestro Mindnio
Aethling's Appearance.:
Tall and lean, with long, dark blue hair pulled back in multiple braids spanning down her back. She has light brown skin and pure green eyes that turn dark blue when she practices her Art. Her eyes are always cold, hiding a river of intense emotion behind a dam of ice. She often wears a fluffy black jacket over a dark gray shirt with an owl printed on it. She wears long black boots with silver buckles, and thigh-high deep purple socks hidden under a stiff black skirt.
Backstory (optional):
Freja grew up in an unforgiving home, all of her relationships, platonic or otherwise, ending in her being abandoned, manipulated, or used. Her parents gave her no attention, so she sought it out elsewhere in violence. She lashed out often in her childhood, trying to get the attention she craved, until she learned to control her emotions. She learned early on that she had to take what she wanted by force or she wasn’t going to get it. This included necessary items such as food, water, and shelter. She learned survival skills quickly and was exceedingly good at combat, frequently getting into fights and causing problems. She bottled up her emotions, trying to please the people who told her to ‘be better’, until the bottle broke and she snapped again. Her only close friend was her little brother, who was eight years younger than her but the two got along splendidly. That is, until he went missing. Freja was the only one who knew what happened to him, and the guilt of it tore her up on the inside. Soon, she cut herself off from everyone in her life, determined to start anew and determined not to give in to anyone again. She left her old home in search of an escape, all on her own except for her one and only friend; Eren.
Weapon of Choice:
x
Other:
Freja has a raven friend named Eren, who she met when she was 16 and the two bonded and have been close ever since. The two are so close it’s almost as if they understand each other, and Freja can call Eren to her anytime. Freja is very much better at communicating with animals (namely birds) than humans, but she is allergic to cats. Despite her cold and oftentimes harsh demeanor, she never lets her instincts become dull, and her reflexes are lightning fast.

Solstice could feel her energy returning, her eyes brightening along with it. She nodded, letting out a delighted purr. “Oh! Of course you can stay! I’m sure it’s not against the rules… but I suppose we can’t worry about that. It is quite troubling to know that something is trying to get at the crystal, though.” Solstice shuddered. Fear crawled like icicles down her spine as she lay in her nest, trying not to think about how helpless she had felt. If that happened for good… they weren’t sure if they could take it. “You’re probably right, though,” she said to Lifei, “it’s best if we sleep for now.”

Solstice didn’t know how she would ever be able to sleep anymore with all of the thoughts beginning to cloud her head, but the sight of her plants regaining their life and the feeling of her feathers’ light returning gave her comfort in the dimly lit room. It felt good to know that her company could help others, and she didn’t like to be alone in the dark either. She was glad she could share this experience with someone, at least, even if she felt really bad for them seeing her cry like that. Hopefully they couldn’t tell how heavily she relied on her powers… if they found out how fragile she really felt, they’d never take her seriously. Sighing, they rested their head on their nest in hopes to catch a few winks of sleep before morning, silently hoping that all of that never happened again.

Solstice looked at Estelle, her eyes flickering with hope. It was fleeting, but the smallest blink of light could be seen on her markings. Solstice didn't notice, but perhaps her magic was not all gone after all. They managed a smile, though in the dim light it was hard to make out. "I know... I have been researching healing herbs recently, I suppose I could do that without my magic. Thank you." Her smile widened. She took a deep breath, trying to steady her shaking.

The gem... the gem! Of course! "You're right!" she exclaimed, a little louder than she had intended. It provoked a few glares from other dragons in the dorm, but she was too excited to notice or really care. "The gem. Something must have gotten to the gem." They began to think. What could it have possibly been, though? Maybe a dragon had gone and tried to destroy it... but something that important couldn't just be left unguarded, could it? "We should go check on it. Just in case. We might be able to find something. I mean... if you want to come, of course. I'm sorry for dragging you into my mess." Solstice apologized sheepishly. She did feel bad about these dragons having to watch her cry, but they felt better now. Good enough to even go where they weren't permitted for the chance of an explanation or their powers back. Despite how good they were feeling, though, she suddenly felt incredibly drained. The thought of roaming the halls in the dark, without her light to guide her, ignited fear deep within her. Her energy was waning... maybe it wasn't the best idea to go on an adventure this late at night.

"I mean... no, never mind. We shouldn't go around looking for trouble." Solstice laid their head down on their forearms, their tail hanging off the bed. She looked dejected, but she was really just tired. Maybe it wouldn't hurt to rest her eyes... just for a moment...

Solstice glanced at Flamesurfer. She was still trembling, but she stopped crying, managing to take shaky breaths. “I appreciate it, but I’m not interested in fighting… it was my favorite thing, to heal others. To see the smiles on their faces when they were better again. Only once did I…” they hesitated. No, that memory was too painful to share. At least not with these dragons she barely new. “I just loved using my magic to help. It made me feel worth it… but now that it’s gone, I don’t know what I’ll do with myself. There’s something…”

Just then, a teacher arrived at the dorm. They reassured everyone that everything would be alright, and left within a few minutes. Solstice quieted, her breathing still uneven. Should she tell them about her life source? She had been warned by her aunt… no, they were sure it wouldn’t come to that. This was merely temporary. They didn’t even know the cause yet. Still, the thought kept pestering her, and the idea frightened her even more than the loss of her light.

The silence after the thunderous shatter was almost deafening to Halu. He could hear whispers and murmurs from his dorm mates, but everything was quiet after the teacher came in. His eyes cast an eerie glow across the floor in front of him, though they no longer swam with the light of the storms. Halu had another theory as to what had caused the loss of his powers, and probably many other dragons’ powers as well, judging from the hushed conversions in his dorm. He couldn’t be sure, though, and he wanted to find out. He didn’t want to go alone, though… maybe he could try to find Illusionist? It was still terribly dark, though, and while it provided good cover for Halu when he closed his eyes, he was certain he’d get lost among the halls if he went out now.

Unable to rest, however, Halu decided to take a walk. Or maybe fly. He needed to stretch his wings and think for a little while. Hopefully he wouldn’t get in too much trouble if he was found roaming the halls at night, but too unsettled to be bothered he made his way to the door. He didn’t plan on getting caught, so all he had to do was be quiet and not get lost and he would be fine. It would only take a minute. Quietly opening the door, Halu slithered out into the hallway and shut the door behind him, the sound echoing across the dark and empty corridor. Feeling uneasy but not willing to turn back now, he continued into the maze of hallways to try and find someplace to think.
