New rule
Forum-Index → Suggestions → Rejected → New ruleWhat do you think, about a rule against being disrespectful to PH staff members?
Technically they are covered by Rule 1, but I think in needs to be more specific, so mod's don't feel like they are abusing their status.
"Don't let someone else make you feel guilty or ashamed about something you don't have control over, whether it is your skin color, your sexual preference or otherwise."
- Alex Bolton (I Hate Everything)
by saying no support I don't want to say that I don't like this suggestion , I myself have solved many problems with the help of mods who are always very friendly and keen to help. I just want to say that there is already a rule present for it.
Exactly this - there already is this rule. You are already not allowed to talk to staff members in a disrespectful way.
I don't see why staff members should be "put above regular members" by having an exclusive "Treat them friendly" rule. You should treat everyone friendly on PokeHeroes, regardless on their status.
Edit:
The rule you are suggesting sounds a lot like power abusing, though.
I fully trust my staff members and I can assure you that no one of them is abusing their power in any way. But why do we need a rule that technically allows moderators to act differently just because they are personally involved in a case? Our mods are trained to be impartial and not to be personally involved in user conflicts.
This should have been more of a common sense, even if it's done to a MoD, Admin or just a normal user.. newb/n00b/whatever.
Try not to be rude to anyone, even if you're in your breaking point or a certain user is bugging/annoying you.. but, don't try to be a weirdo either, and annoy someone else just because you want to see them to act rude to you.. That's just plain psychotic. Pardon the term. Erm.
I still support this though..
But, yeah, Fahad_Ali & Riako are right though.. the new rule might need a few more kinks to get through those loop holes and what not. :O
If you trust the mods, then maybe this should be a rule. they won't block people, but they will feel better about sounding warnings about it. maybe they should be impartial, but they are also human, and shouldn't just put up with it, because they are worried about being called power mad. It's not fair that they should be treated as lesser, just because they are here to help us.
For many years, I worked as a community manager for an independent gaming company. When you're in a position where you have to tell people "no" to something they feel they should be told yes to, regardless of whether it's common sense or not, people have a tendency to become abusive. Maybe not directly, but guilt tripping and sulking IS a thing, and people in positions of authority are human - they don't deserve to have to feel like they're villains for enforcing the rules of the site, ever.
That said, I think that goes for anyone on the game, not just the mods. I just have a sneaking suspicion they probably deal with a lot more attempted guilt trips and manipulation than the usual user deals with. I don't talk to any of them often to know, but if members of PH are anything like players on Steam games..
... we totally need a Mod Appreciation Week or something, lol

Mods already get good respect as equal to (if not greater than) other users here and that should be the case. :p
Update: All I'm saying is that this is unnecessary since all users, be it mods or otherwise, should be treated respectfully regardless of their status.
My mom owns a shop, and often the staff receive abuse from customers just for doing their job. Therefore, our shop, just like many other shops, has a notice at the counter reminding customers that abusing the staff is not tolerated. Another analogy would be of certain countries which have laws that prohibit harrassing other people, but at the same time also have specific laws that forbid abusing a public servant, simply because public servants (i.e. the police, fire brigade etc) are more likely to face abuse while carrying out their duties.
Similarly, something along these lines should be explicitly mentioned in the rules. Of course, treating each other with respect is already a given, but people also need to be reminded not to harass or heckle the few users trying to do their jobs by maintaining the site and providing service to other users :)

I took Squill's initial suggestion to be exactly along these lines. You explained it much more cohesively than I could have; thank you, DavidS.

But by what you're saying, it's also implying that people should be "extra-respectful" when talking with a moderator.
If all users deserve equal respect, I don't see the necessity to imply the need to be polite and respectful specifically to moderators. (In that case are we implying that mods are not users?)
I completely understand the fact that mods do get badgered and bugged a lot more than most normal users, and that they are human too - and that some people don't respect them - but having them be put above others in a rule that was already made for everyone to be fair doesn't seem, quite right to me.
I have a few moderator friends and well, to me they're just normal users. I consider mods equals. I don't think I'd like being told (in a sense) "Yeah, people can disrespect you more than they can disrespect mods, just because they're mods. It's a rule."
I'm actually quite sure many people respect the mods anyways.
Besides if a person truly was being disrespectful, then of course they'd be breaking those 1.1 and 1.1.1 rules, and the mods of course could warn them for that.
Some people may call them "power-crazy" for doing that, but they really aren't. It's just doing their job.
I'm sure the mods can all be adults and handle situations like that without some sort of "protection."
You do make good points though.
