I was flicking through some older posts and think the writing contest you were all discussing sounds great.
I think a really open-ended prompt (such as 'no-one walked past room 124, they ran') would be cool. I don't even care about prizes - this needs to happen.

I think it would be fun to go for something rather experimental with the contest - kind of like a challenge, for example trying to tell a story with dialogue only, or writing a story without any spoken words.

Also I kinda have been writing a lot lately but I can't really share it because I'm writing for a book oops.

That sounds cool. It reminds of the kind of stuff this writing challenge company did in the UK. There was one where you had to tell a story in 100 words. In another, you chose a limitation from a list and did a poem. Mind you, one was 'do not use a certain letter', so everyone said 'I won't use X'!

Aah I hate having word limits that are extremely low! But I do think that maybe a maximum word count would make sense in a writing contest - for example to avoid someone from submitting like 15 pages worth of text, oof--

Also I wrote something wooh.

She was beautiful,
Colorful,
Yet so fragile and young
Just like our love.

I held her in my hands.
Filled with joy and pride,
I showed her around.

But someone took her from my hands,
Held her close,

Earned her trust
Then tore her petals.
One by one.

Until her colors were gone
And her beauty was only to be seen
By those who looked beyond the blue.

Are you still out there?

I hope the writing community returns. The world is empty without you. The chairs as Cair Paravel would never have been filled, the one ring never destroyed. Dark Lords and Titans would remain undefeated, and happy endings would never have been penned. I write a letter to all of you to come back and remember your calling. And maybe, we can revive this club.

And so I will be the beacon of change. If you are an old member of this club, please pp me~ I would love to keep traditions alive! If you are new and wish to join, here is the sign-up form. Once you are signed up, feel free to write as much as you want, and comment on other people's work.

Almost anything related to writing can be posted in this forum. A bit of a story, or a poem, even advertisement for a story you're writing either here, or even on another website! (As long as it follows the first rule). You can ask for advice on a plot, or even a style of writing. If you do NOT want criticism on a piece and just want support, then please state so on your post with the piece. If you have not gotten advice, criticism, or support on a piece at all, and another conversation has continued on, you may make another post asking for people to look at your last post. Feel free to discuss plots and ideas on this thread, it's perfectly fine! Just don't get too off topic. You may post poetry, your own stories, or even fanfiction, and you are allowed to discuss anything related to writing here!

@Everyone: Who would be interested in writing a short story for October? Serendibite's suggestion is a good one! (Write a high fantasy story with a sad ending) What would you think of doing a ghost story this month for Halloween? :)
