Now I don't know if anyone remembers but the Mods used to have a
banner up for 24 hours automatically celebrate their birthdays on
those respective days.
But for some reason it has been removed without much notice because
people complained about the banner change for 24 hours. So I
propose this.
Let people either opt in or out. Because I know some people like
it. l like myself to be reminded. The mods do a lot for us as a
community and just those few pixels on their birthday can go a long
way in saying thank you for your hard work.
All it would be is a little tick box wither you want to opt in or
out depending how you feel. I personally would chose to tick it for
yes I want this change for 24 hours because that's all it would
be.
Example of the past:
There could also be a separate section / tick boxes for spriters,
artists and Wiki support too! Maybe you don't want the mods but the
spriters or the Arts?
Thank you for listening and have all good day (example may be shown
later)
Absolute support :)
Not because I'm staff, but because i truthfully believe staff
should be appreciated, idc what staff you are, whether you're a
mod/spriter/artist/wiki helper, you're all important and help this
site in the end, and at most, the option should come back, even if
it's just a banner. It really makes a difference (even if its' just
pixels) to help us feel appreciated.
It's super dumb that it was even taken away from the moaning from
kids on here who didn't like the "omg i can't change my banner for
a day!!111"
like.. it's a banner. what's wrong with being appreciated with a
little banner.
At least with the option, we can have the banners, and those who
truthfully feel they can't handle pixels being different for a day,
can opt out and just ignore it as per usual.
I definitely support this. All staff members deserve a little
appreciation, they're super important! And for the people who don't
want to change their banner, they still have the choice to opt out
of it, but I don't mind my banner being changed for a day.
Were the Birthday Banners visible to other people? Like, if I chose
to change mine in support, would others be able to see it? Because
whenever I go to someone's wall, I only see my Banner. Unless you
could see others showing their support, there is no point in even
having those banners, nor is there a point to opt-in, opt-out.
Not saying I don't like it. Support the ability to opt-in/opt-out.
Just don't see a point if the Mod in question can't see your
support and be "Aww. Thanks" about it.
The thing is it yes only you can see it. But it would remind you.
'Oh it's -Blah's birthday, And then you going to say 'I noticed
it's your birthday have a good day' Isn't that just a nice gesture?
Just to be reminded. That even though other's can't see it. Doesn't
mean you can't say 'I noticed it was your birthday from the banner'
And then wish them a happy day.
That's what it's about. It's the gesture of thank you for your
work it doesn't have to mean anything.
Edit: This is
the banner of what I mean They are already even in the style
settings! And they are all so pretty *w* <3 It's a shame no one
really uses them andI would like to bring them back. Just as a
thank you to the mods for their hard work.
FireWolf, it's moreso a personal reminder of when the mod's
birthdays are. I mean, I enjoy the banners going site-wide as then
it's a "happy birthday" type of thing and everyone knows, but some
people may just want to be reminded it's a mod's birthday so they
can send a small gift, or palpad/PM the mod a birthday message
:> and the people who get annoyed about the banners won't need
to see them.
Also total support from me ^^
Support. Although I personally probably wouldn't use this because
there are now so many mods/artist/spriters and there are a few I
don't get along with and don't want to be forced to see their
username for a full 24 hours on top of the page and standing
out.
BUT it would be a good reminder to members to thank their beloved
ph staff for everything they do on the special day. I didn't like
it before because you didn't have an option and was forced to look
at it(I think, I have horrible memory about things). Options are
always a nice thing in my opinion.
While I do support, I believe that there aren't anymore birthday
banners partially because Abby was the one that made them prior to
her departure from the staff (and business with other real life
things).
I do think it would be a nice gesture to the staff though. ^-^
@Mals, isn't that why we have new artists? Sure they won't be in
the same style, but that adds to the "personalizing" of the new
site-volunteer-birthday banners, right?
Wait, we can't change the banners during staff birthdays? (Never
tried) Then why not make it that the banner is simply selected for
that day but can be changed back if the user want to?
@MeepTheMareep02, originally the coding prevented you from changing
your banner (hence why there was some users complaining about it
being "stuck" and "why should some users be reminded that someone
shares their birthday and be highlighted while they themselves are
'ignored'").
Dunno which would be easier to code, but that's the gist of this
suggestion. Either have mod birthday banners on (tick box) or opt
out (no tick box).
I completly support. I miss the banner actually. It always gave me
a chance to show my support and love to them. (mainly pluishie
spam). The mods and Riako have always been kind, understanding, and
helpful so why not have their birthday banners! Its only for a day
folks.
