Suggestion to improve blocking functions
Forum-Index → Suggestions → Suggestion to improve blocking functionsThere are plenty of threads floating around in regards to how blocked people should/shouldn't be able to do certain things, and whiles I am perfectly okay with how the block function works as of now
(aside from blocked people being able to comment on your feeds, when you can't comment on theirs ;) )
My suggestion is in regards to blocking users from posting in certain threads you've created.
A few of us have all had certain altercations, with whomever it may be, and even though we block them, they're still able to comment in our threads.
Now, it isn't the end of the world if they do, depending on what type of thread you have up (aka, a suggestion someone has up, as everyone should be able to show support/no support on how to improve this site, even if you don't get along.
However, the problem that some have already ran into/will eventually run into, is having people you've blocked posting on certain threads you've created, whether it be an art shop/selling/buying pokemon kinda thing, where you do not want that person business, nor have them posting, as that could cause unwanted drama.
Even if we put messages up saying you'd like it for blocked users to not post in our threads, some, will do it anyways. Warnings can only go so far, and usually deter someone from continuing their actions, but sometimes, it just doesn't work, and in extreme cases, users get banned.
So, heres' my solution;
Adding the option (from what your first post would look like, as you're creating a thread/modifying the first post) to have people who are blocked unable to comment on your thread by checking off that box.
This way, blocked users cannot post in certain threads, if you have this checked off, which avoids having us needing to report those blocked users all the time, especially if they've decided to be drama queens about having them blocked in the first place, and take it to your own personal threads.
idk, I hope this makes sense, because as I see it, if we do have this option, it saves those possible blocked users from receiving warnings & possibly banned, as they just will not have the option to post in the first place.
Like, if you make a ... idk... fanclub about eh.. digimon or anything else and the blocked person can't talk /join the fanclub cause the owner blocked it
it would be a bit unfair..
i think this kind of blocked stuff should be added only for the gts section, and maybe fanmade / diary?
Carter stop it please ...
It would all be up to the discretion of the blocker. There would be a box you'd have to check that controls it.
I see what you're talking about sweetie, and I do agree, that it literally shouldn't be every thread kinda thing, but definitively certain subforums should have this option.
The last thing anyone wants in their own shops they have opened up, is to have people whom they don't get along with (whatever reason they may have to not get along) and have said user post in there, causing unwanted drama, as is literally already happening in this very suggestion :x
Personally, fanclubs & such should not be affected by this, because as you've mentioned, it is just not fair to block someone and not have them be a part of a group.
However, this is moreso just for personal shops you yourself have opened up, where you're not so much excluding someone from posting in your thread, but giving them the option to buy something they want from someone else, as there are multiple shops/art shops and such around here, which in the end, removes possible problems that may arise from them posting in your thread in the first place.
if.. that makes sense? @_@
For example the GTS. If you have a joint trade thread with someone and they have someone blocked that you might consider a friend, they won't be able to comment to buy stuff from you and might think you blocked them.
[Not that I have anyone blocked right now.. Just future wise]
But I think this is a really good idea because a lot of people can become problematic and cause drama that's not needed in any situation. Especially a Raffle, Contest, or Shop.
Yeah, Princess, I see where the problem could arise if there was a situation like that :x
I think, honestly it would just be up to the two people who have joined shops, to come to a conclusion whereas both come to a conclusion & decide to not block/block kinda thing. I'm not really sure as to what i could add on to resolve a situation like that :x
But... which forums sections should have this option? I can only think for sure about the Diary, as it is more personal than other sections, but should other places like Fanmades and Roleplay have this? I think a list of which places that could have this option would help a lot o:
Also, hmm, I'm kinda confused about what would happen if you selected this option after the blocked person posted... Would the person just not be able to post or edit any previous posts anymore or would they still be able edit them and do things like hide signature? ;v;
"Never gonna know if you don't ever try"
I don't think deleting them would work, as that could be a lot of posts from one person to delete only to have someone remove said user from a blocked list, and no longer have any of their posts available.
But definitely only for certain forums(ESPECIALLY DIARIES)
(EX~ Eevee Evolution RPGs & Shops)
I have heard of many people getting picked on in the RPGs by people who just want to cause drama (Which is not right for anyone) and it would certainly help in shops after people act rude in them (As I have seen).
I think the sections in which this should be implemented are:
1. Pokeheroes Apps.
2. Global Trade Station
3. Introduce Yourself (but chances are that anyone posting here hasn’t blocked anyone, but still)
4. Diaries
5. Fanmades
6. Roleplays
7. Contests
Those which I'm not sure on-
1. Help
2. Bugs and Complaints
4. Discussions
5. Fan Clubs
If you don't get along with somebody you should be able to block them from your more personal forums.
For example if somebody begs to the point of blocking them, they likely are gonna start doing so in your shop. If people see that kind of thing they will be less interested in doing business as it looks unprofessional.
Or if there's a lot of drama or bad blood between you two then a RP would be awkward.
