After winning a Pokemon from a raffle today, I realized what I was missing on this site, compared to other adoptable places.

Customizable "pet" descriptions.

You know how some people give their Pokemon names like "2nd Shiny X on site"? Well, how about you could have a small text field on the bottom of the Pokemon's page where you could put that info, instead. Put "not for sale" or "looking to trade for Y or Z" in the description, and it might be noticed more times than it would have been if it was stated in your "About me" or even GTS.

Some people like making characters, OCs or pokesonas, which info could easily be put in that description field on a certain Pokemon, making the individual ones so much special and, well, individual.

As I imagine it, the customization would likely be limited (no html / css, so no changing of the whole page's look, only what BBCode allows for) and with a character limit. It would just be an empty space if not filled in by the Pokemon's owner.

To those who can't imagine what I mean, here's an example.

Of course I realize that not everyone would use it; actually, 99% of the Pokemon on site would be likely to stay "anonymous" anyway, but I think it would be a nice addition for those who care about customization, and to those who like stumbling upon tidbits of writing/art by other users. Sadly, since random pictures/walls of text would eat up data for our mobile users, there would likely have to be an option to "disable viewing custom descriptions", or something along these lines.


^ This all could also lead to some minor additional features / contests, such as "Pokemon Spotlight", or whatever. This isn't necessarily my point here, but I would just like to point out the possibility.


I don't know if this idea had ever been pitched before, perhaps it's already been rejected, but I thought I'd ask anyway.
This idea has in fact been suggested before, as seen here. It has not been officially rejected, but it's stuck in limbo.

Any ideas? Would any of you use it? Would you like to see what people make of it? Do you see any way to improve this?

Well Riako did say before, that he wants this site to be different from other sites that have all of these things and he just wants to keep it nice and new. In my opinion any new pokemon site that may be made may be just nearly copying another site but giving it a different name and different fonts and all that and as I said Riako wants Pokeheroes to be unique!
Yes I know, Riako didn't say that exactly but he said something on the lines of what I said. also I am sure this has been already suggested and rejected but I don't want to go searching~

While I understand all that, I am not part of any other Pokemon sites, and thus I am not aware if they have that particular small feature or not. I admit that a lot of adoptable (not Pokemon) sites do, but I think that that's what makes each of them unique in their own way.

Like you've said, "any new pokemon site that may be made may be just nearly copying another site"; because Pokemon are always the same, on every site, making them your own is something to be considered special and unique. At least it's what I think. Perhaps I should investigate other sites, though, to see how they do it.

I was sure that it would have been suggested before, considering how basic the idea is.
But after looking through pages upon pages of open as well as rejected suggestions, I didn't find a thread speaking of it, so I decided to give it a shot anyway.

It has been suggested before over here, however it doesn't go into much depth like you do. Anyway it hasn't been officially rejected so not sure why people are saying it was.

I'd love to write about all my special Pokemon in their own little description for everyone to see and I'm also pretty interested to see what others would write for their Pokemon~. So yeah, I'm in full support of this suggestion.

This would be awesome, But can we use diffrent fonts?

I would highly suggest a "last edited by XYZ" feature with the description addition. Reason? Many people don't open pokemon profiles as many of them are junkmons. If the description is inappropriate (breaks site rule), innocent user would get punished for that mischief as pokemon get passed down frequently in auction house and gts (especially junkmons).

Second thing I would suggest, make the description character-limited (like signature or even shorter) and make it look simple and sober (probably make description a code box where no codes work, as its work is actually to "describe", not to make a fancy pokemon profile)

As long as these two features are included in the description suggestion, my response would be a upvote. :)
