What’s the best way to send the images of the sprites if the only way to upload images is through like bbc (ie, you would need to post them online somewhere so you can have a link)? (If that’s not the only way to share please let me know, I’m still new but I thought that was the only way)

@abstral you unfortunately cannot upload to the site directly. meaning you have to upload to another site first and then insert the image link like this:

you can use aside ibb imgur dot com as well or any other safe website you know, can't be viewed by anyone else, aside from you and anyone you share the link to. since publication leads to disqualification.

Dumb question from me, but I just want to make sure/double check.

When spriting the egg, we must stay within the outside lines, correct?

Credit to Absbor for making this :D

Sorry I'm giving you more questions to answer, but if I drew like a flower (ex. cherry blossom or if i like draw my own flower) pokemon, would that be like an event pokemon or an emera variant?

You thought you would get off lightly and make a theme park to atone? Nah, your soul is gonna be torn in half :3

No, you don't. Diancie (Emera), one of the DOs, has an egg that falls outside the normal Egg outline.

The size shouldn't be too different, but you can slightly adjust the form.

As I mentioned before, if there's no reason for the pokémon to have that specific form, it's an Event, not a variant.

Quote from Repost from earlier question from me in this forum thread as it might have gotten buried:Will we get confirmation (via PM) when we have submitted our entries and they are accepted? (As in, if the design doesn't comply with what has been stated in the forum post, will you let us know via PM?)

When you say "Previous sprites can also not be submitted", does this mean you can't just submit a sprite that's 100% the same as before, or are we allowed to re-submit an altered version of that sprite?

Is it only one entry per person or can we submit multiple Sprite designs for different Pokémon lines?

Because many users seem to have a hard time to understand the difference between regional variant and event let me try to explain it :3

An event is a themed pokemon. The main focus here is the event (like christmas, valentines, easter, summer) with features that would not make muuuch sense in the "normal" pokemon world (for example the bow and bell on Azubell - noodles instead of tendrils on Impasta - sunglasses, swimwear and surfboard on Surfer Machop) .

A regional variant is just like animals in our real world: There are some species that just adapt to the environment.

Real World example: polar bear and brown bear

Pokemon World example: Alolan Vulpix and normal Vulpix - the first lives in colder regions and therefore developped a white and thicker fur + the ice type.

Your task is to think outside the box. How do you think would a specific pokemon look like if it lives in a different area?
Example: What would a Sandshrew look like if it would live in the polar region instead of the desert?

Do we need sprites as a base or can we create new sprites?
After all, you've got to live in life
And leave the dying to the dead
If your flame is burning strong
Why watch the shadows on the wall instead of
Living life without regret
So you can see what lies beyond
The border when you're gone

@AnonymousEspeon you can create new sprites. spriting from scratch is fine. sobboil was done from scratch too instead of using the preexisting sprite as a base.

I've never made an entire new lineart for a sprite before (even with using a base for guidance) so I dont think I would enter more than once lol. But considering I have tried the Advent Calendar contest alongside the Easter Egg Spiriting contest, I thought, why not. Worst case scenario I don't win, but we all cant win everything and it's not like losing means getting banned pfft

Yeah! I'm not particularly skilled at spriting either and might have misunderstood the prompt but oh well!

I had fun spriting anyways~

can we draw mega forms for the pokemon, too?

QuoteWill we get confirmation (via PM) when we have submitted our entries and they are accepted? (As in, if the design doesn't comply with what has been stated in the forum post, will you let us know via PM?)

If there is something wrong with the entry (broken code, size,...) and I notice it in time, I'll reply to the PM.
If the design doesn't match, I don't reply. I might be the only one on Staff thinking it doesn't (or the only one thinking it does) fit, so I won't know 100% whether it qualifies or not until the voting has started.

QuoteWould a mega evolution count as a variant?

Quotecan we draw mega forms for the pokemon, too?

If the pokémon has a mega form, you can include a mega form of the new variant.
You cannot just make a mega for a pokémon that doesn't have one. That would count as an event, not a variant.

QuoteCan I do it of a Pokemon that hasn't been released on this site (yet)? ie a SV mon

Yes.

QuoteSo as long as I think of a reason its a regional?

If it makes sense, yes.

QuoteWhen you say "Previous sprites can also not be submitted", does this mean you can't just submit a sprite that's 100% the same as before, or are we allowed to re-submit an altered version of that sprite?

Considering we're asking for variants, rather than events, the only previous sprites that would've been submitted would've been event sprites [or mega sprites] neither of which would qualify.
Altering is something I can't justifiably say 'yes' or 'no' to, because as most of these things, it depends on how much (or little) got altered.

QuoteIs it only one entry per person or can we submit multiple Sprite designs for different Pokémon lines?

As has been mentioned in this thread multiple times, you can submit multiple sprite designs.
