Newbury castle is the location of the most prestigious Academy of the Mystical Arts in the entirety of the kingdom. It specializes in training young, promising mages to become great magicians. Many of the world's greatest magicians and geniuses have come out of this school.
The castle is huge, absolutely enormous. it's made of a huge jumble of towers and battlements, but it is centered around a four-pointed star-shaped garden in the center of the entire thing. The castle is separated into four main parts; North, South, East and West. Each 'wing' contains the dormitory of one of the main four houses.
the North has the Phoenix House, usually the type to always get up, to laugh in the face of danger, and can be very blunt, brash, and headstrong. The members of this house typically practice Flame or Lightning magic, and many practice blunt weaponry. the Current Prefect is Emma Brown.
The South is the polar opposite of the North. The members of the Siren House are typically laid back, far more flexible and amendable. They live to create art, to play music, to forge metal. They tend to practice Music, Wind or Water-type magic. Many of this house tend to practice Swordsmanship. The Current Prefect is Kendo Satou.
The East is the land of the Quetzalcoatl House. This house is poisonous, deadly. This house tends to be sneaky and manipulative, like a deadly poison that enters the veins, killing it from the inside. This house is the most competitive, and the most chaotic. They tend to practice Shadow or Poison magics, along with hidden weapon arts. The current prefect is Jackery Soot.
The West is the domain of ice, of the Frost Dragon House. This house's members are stubborn, cold as ice. they are uncompromising, unnegotiable, and usually quite uptight. They tend to be the leaders in most situations. They tend to practice Ice magic. The current prefect is Artemis Wright.
A tree, oftentimes referred to as "The World Tree", is planted in the dead center of the castle, in the center of the star. it's a popular hangout for students after classes, just to sit under it.
In a hidden area, hidden behind a mirror in a classroom or the third stall to the right in a bathroom, or just around the corner, is a hidden alleyway, known by both the students and teachers. They call it Merchant's Alley. what was once an underground black market had now turned into a Siren House-run, Teacher-supported merchant's alley.

she's short, standing at 5'2, with long, silky raven-black hair. Her skin is fair. Her eyes are a bright shade of Azure. She wears a blue hoodie, a red scarf, black track shorts, and pink bunny slippers. She's quite beautiful if she bothered to dress up.
Personality:
Loud, bold, brash, she's one heckuva tomboy. She answers to nothing and no one, not her brother, friends, or anyone. She's energetic, peppy, optimistic, naive even. She loves adventuring and thrills. But, she's far more intelligent than she gets on. She can be sneaky, low down and cunning if needed, sadistic, even. She can be fairly empathetic, as well. She despises her brother.

He was humble, yet powerful. he never looked down on others. Everyone loved him. And she hated him for it. She currently sits at 16th place.

Description:
Standing tall at 6'5, Kendo has golden-brown hair, reaching his shoulders, along with bright azure eyes. By all accounts, he's pretty good looking. His skin is light, and he's pretty thin. He has a pair of thin glasses resting on the bridge of his nose. He usually wears a crumpled navy soldier's uniform, slightly loose. At school, he wears either his formalwear black business suit, red tie and white collared shirt, which he rocks like a boss. On normal occasions, he wears an indigo-lined cloak over a collared white shirt and a indigo tie.

Laid back, yet passionate, kendo earned the title of "The Dreamer". He's an optimist. he tends to be flirty. He has no sense of shame.

On the extremely short side of being only 4"8 (tysm Cardboard), she is often mistaken to be younger than she actually is. But her short height looks great with her short black hair and dark bangs, which often cover her dark purple eyes. There are two bows in her hair

Description: Malcia Sheppard has long, dark-blue hair that is extremely fluffy, which seems to compliment her golden yellow eyes. Her stature is fairly short, standing at a measly 5 feet. She has freckles all over her body, and she usually wears comfortable clothing.
Personality: Malcia is very curious. Her voice is light and always has a hint of fatigue. She asks questions and ponders why existence has reached this point; that is, when she’s not sleeping. She's nice, but...not the smartest. She speaks with a calm and gentle attitude, as she is slow to anger. She’s ambitious and adventurous, usually getting distracted by random things going on around her. It’s advised to keep an eye on her because she’ll end up running off and getting herself in trouble.

Description:
With soft curly silver locks that doesn't past her shoulders that is usually let loose or tied into a low ponytail, Sheita is 4'9, with black eyes that has silver-ish blue iris and malnourished pale skin. But unlike her malnourished appearance, she still has her baby fat on her cheeks that refuses to go away that flush read easily when worked up much to Sheita's displeasure.
She wears a either maroon or beige cardigan, with a white or black dress shirt to pair with. To complete the outfit, Sheita doesn't wear a skirt, but rather a comfortable sweatpants and some simple sneakers that is always somewhat dirty.
Oh and for some reason, Sheita has really cold hands all year long.

Due to her previous experience to all sorts of challenges, Shieta proficient in all kinds of herbs and is always prepared for all sorts of situations.
But for some unknown reason, she was suddenly applied to enter Newbury Academy and graduate. But like always, Shieta adapts and compromise, make due with what she has.

Personality: Mischievous and full of energy, yet is incredibly shy and quiet. Rather religious. Loves shiny objects like gems and coins

Description: She's rather pale, since her family lives far in the icy terrain. She has white, almost translucent eyes, and a short, slim figure. The most notable thing about her is her hair, which isn't hair at all. It's a mass of clouds that makes it look like she has very fluffy short white hair. It's prone to changing with her mood, but mostly stays at shoulder length white.

Personality: Sera is a very foggy-minded, nihilistic girl who doesn't seem to be fascinated by much, and is quite introverted and quiet. She also tends to be on the harsher side to people she seems untrustworthy. If she weren't wearing her house's uniform, you'd think she was from the western wing. Other than that, she isn't phased by anything, really, and is almost immune to the annoyances of others.

Backstory: Despite being born into wealth, she wasn't treated the best due to her physical appearance, and was mostly neglected by her parents who were always away. She did like it when her mother and father were home, as they threw big parties and she always got gifts, but it was short-lived and things would go back to how they were before. She did all she could to join the academy unnoticed, and left her home behind.

Other: She has only minor weather manipulation from her heritage, and her hair is a great way to figure her emotions out since she's not very expressive. there are windchimes hanging from her 'hair', and sometimes more float around her. She has chronic narcolepsy, so she's prone to passing out anywhere at any time. Also, ref image, dorm room, school uniform.

Description: a uptight looking young lady, with streaks of ice blue in her short blonde hair, her eyes are the colour of a grizzly bears fur, which matches her temperment well. Wears glasses, the sharp ones you normally see stereotypically worn by strict headmasters.
Personality: Condescending, has a form of dry humor you'd associate with dry ice. Prefers not to be in the spotlight but will do what she needs to to fulfil her goals. Likes to forge good relationships and make fair trades.
House: Frost dragon
Magic Type: Weapons infused with magic. She fuses and makes her own weapons. Likes using short swords.

Backstory: She was borne into a prestigious family with wealth and was taught the proper ways to be a proper successor, never toe the line, wear only these clothes. Order after order. She eventually became the perfect specimen, but became a controlled pupet at the same time. It was as if she had no soul left. Her parents got worried and tried every way to cure her, to no avail. Eventually a travelling merchant found their way to her house and offered a cure, a mysterious potion he just called "An obecalp" her arents immediately administered the potion, and Sofphia got better, slowly regaining her senses. The merchant despite pulling off a feat multiple doctors failed to cure only asked to stay at their house for a few weeks to rest their tired bones, along with food. In private Sofphia confronted him about this, and the merchant revealed to them the medicine was merely a placebo, and he'd made sure Sofphia was within hearing distance when he spoke of its wonderous effects. Sofphia, shocked by this asked the merchant to become their mentor, and the merchant agreed. Over the course of the merchants stay, he thought her everything he knew, and she became skilled in many things essential to a merchant, like bargaining, trading and valuing, along with survival and slight combat skills. That was years ago, yet Sofphia still ractices everything the merchant had taught her.
Other: Sofphia is a human with ice dragon blood in her veins from centuries ago. This gives her a boost in ice magic and an extremely small boost for strength, to the point sofphia can easily arm wrestle a boy of her age. She uses this to put more force behind her strikes in both combat and forging.
