Shuto remains camouflaged within the alleyway’s shadowy walls. He had watched the previous exchange between his fellow Lightchaser members, some he recognised, like Lumiere, the captain and some others he didn’t. A cage had been present, until it wasn’t, and so many other things that had happened which he could barely comprehend so fast, let alone summarise it.

Glancing from left to right, his gaze darting from one end of the alley to another, identifying routes of escape and paths to lead him out of this terrorist site.

His radio, strapped tightly onto his hip and attached to the belt, crackled before quietly transmitting the message from the captain himself. With his gaze on the scene unfolding, Lumiere and the other Lightchasers, and with the sound of an approaching army of men, he chose to obey the orders.

Giving the people behind him one last look, Shuto turned away, dragging himself from the alley, sucking between the darkness and folding himself from the light. He couldn’t risk getting caught.

Right, left, left again, right. So many twists and turns that made his head spin with confusion yet somehow, Shuto managed to weasel his way out the labyrinth of a street. All the while listening for any approaching noise, any sound or movement that would make him jump into a defensive mode. But everything was silent, apart from the clanking of boots and steady steps gradually fading into nothing.

Shuto strolled across the streets circling the area, where the other Lightchasers were, there were many bright lights and loud noises, evidently, there was a fight happening. According to orders. all he had to do was tiptoe the edge of the perimeter and force away any unwanted stragglers or passers by. And he did.

Working with Hari wasn’t hard by any means, they had an easy job anyway, and it’s not like they were incompetent. Every once in a while they’d have to push away some pedestrians, while also snagging a few snacks from vendors. From tanghulu to skewers and ice cream, they took everything they could find, despite having eaten half a meal already. Being a lightchaser was such hard work, walking around Chinatown and eating food.

Shuto wandered until he had done roughly a full loop from where they had started. So, he beckoned for Hari to follow and they would go provide assistance for the people fighting. Just barely stepping through into the battle field and loitering to the side, just as they don’t get in the way, and avoid not doing any substantial work, but on scene if anything happens. Their assigned orders were to cleanup the outer ring, not actively fight in the confrontation.

Boring, yes, annoying, yes, but orders were orders and Shuto loved by the rules.

As much as he wanted in on the action, he couldn’t, partly due to the commands from the captain, and also maybe perhaps he ate too much and felt like throwing up if he did do some fighting, just perchance.

Shuto grimaced as he was punched by Hari, who was much shorter, it felt like a little child was trying to get his attention. His constitution had always been terrible, so he was wary of any injuries or bruises, those were always a pain as they wouldn’t heal for weeks.

“Yes, yes, I do apologise, but we have a code 9, and I don’t believe we could have sat and chatted about your emotionally constipated roommate.” He said as he turned to peer around the corner, some more Lightchaser members were gathering. A brief smile hovering over his face, his eyes darting around and listening to the orders being given out.

The pink haired girl was grumpy, of course, it was quite understandable yet still, fairly unreasonably to be pouting at him leaving the restaurant, at least he paid.

“Fine, I’ll pay for it next time, we can get extra kimchi.” Shuto muttered, begrudging and slightly reluctant. He did not have many friends, so he didn’t want Hari to be upset at him all throughout their mission. And silent treatment from Hari was fairly scary. Shuto was fairly daring, but not to that extent.

Who knew such a short, middle school looking girl with light pink hair and a baby face would be so scary?

“Next time we’ll take Ayame too, how about that?”

Ayame, with split coloured hair, light cyan and white, Hari’s so called platonic roommate and the reason for many late night meetings in secret alleyways when Hari was so frantically gushing about her. They couldn’t ever talk about this topic outside of whispers and hushed mutters, not to mention constantly looking around when they were dining together, shutting up the moment a person passed by, no matter who.

Hari, pink haired, bright. Slightly passive aggressive at times but in a very cute and friendly way, you couldn’t guess that she was 16 due to her height and vibe. Her self proclaimed ‘healthy’ obsession with the girl she met at a carriage stop and became roommates with were stories Shuto always welcomed listening to. Them and their group excursions to restaurants, Ayame tagging along once in a while, mostly when they went to the favourite restaurant.

Ah yes, their most frequented restaurant, a Korean Barbecue place, the waiters never overstayed to eavesdrop on their conversations, they had become such regulars that the two of them could walk in and a booth would be reserved especially for them, dishes already ordered for them without even asking. They had to go to the restaurant, at least once a week, if they didn’t? That would be because the sky was collapsing down or something of that calibre. No questions asked, and no answers needed.

Of course, Shuto too was an avid enjoyer of food, perhaps not as much as Hari was, but he would kill for a piece of grilled beef and kimchi. Oh how heavenly that sounded, they were definitely going to get more food after this b*st*rd was taken care of and given some punishment for ruining their Korean Barbecue moment.

Shuto’s mind floated through the clouds imagining each food that came into mind so much that her forgot that, one, he was on a mission, and two, Hari was also there, and he was ignoring her.

He wanted to get everything done and dusted, wrapped up as soon as possible so the glorious reward of food would be accomplished, yet unfortunately, the Ame dashing from rooftop to rooftop denied him that. How utterly annoying.

Shuto, having been raised in the city, was decently familiar with the streets. despite how rarely he visited it, during his youth in hospitals or shut in his room with a tutor, maps littered his childhood room, covering the walls, floor and even some windows. Those maps were his solace in the dim rooms lit by candlelight after curfew hours, under the covers, daydreaming that maybe someday he could walk those streets freely himself, instead of through his imagination.

Unorganised and messy, cluttered with books and pages scattered all over the desks, Shuto reminisced of the days where his fixations were on the city roads, now? He had the responsibilities of being an adult and needing to look after himself, paying bills and all sorts, it was so much more boring.

Of course, making friends had always been difficult for Shuto, isolation separated himself from others in his age range. However, that wasn’t always a bad thing for him, being on his own was better that having a crowd always exclaiming and shouting. Shuto also cherished anything similar to acquaintances or the rare friend that he makes. Hari and Ayame being some of them.

Some would find it sad, some, tragic, but Shuto did not mind, he was the kind of person that did not really care about what others whispered behind his back. Unless it was about his friends.

Protective and defensive? Maybe, just a bit, perhaps. Of course, he’d never admit anything. But what he would say was he did want Hari and Ayame to end up together, it wasn’t exactly tolerated, but Shuto saw no problems with it and he wanted them to be happy, his two sisters being a family he never really had. Third wheeling was fine by him.

Maybe instead of zoning out, Shuto should be focusing on the task at had, dealing with that Ame. RuoDie, mission leader, gave out instructions. Damage control? That would be easy, maybe he could snap a few snacks on the way to fuel his energy. If they were lucky, they only needed to secure the area and shooing civilians away from the site.

Ames were unpredictable by nature, a rampaging one? Probably even more so, trying to pinpoint a path would be like finding a needle in a haystack, but as an sad, unpaired Vie, that was his job as a member.

Shuto waited for Hari, as leaving her behind would be extremely unwise, her punches hurt, somewhat, at least, for a person her size.

Brushing back some loose, black-white hair behind his ear, slightly pissed that it fell out of his ponytail, and patted down his coat of any dust.

Shuto Kohaku, Lighthouse member, received the transmission while staring aimlessly out of the window of a Korean Barbecue, with another member across the table. He had his chin resting on his hand with mock concentration, while his other one was cooking some food. He had one foot tapping restlessly along to the instrumental song playing in the background.

Of course his relaxing day with good food and doing nothing productive would be interrupted by a call for their mobilisation, how annoying. But Shuto was not one to ignore his responsibilities, although he really did not want to leave the few plates of meat they had yet to feast on. It was such a waste, of both food and money.

Shuto grabbed his coat that had been laid over the empty seat next to him and got up. He put the money for the meal on the table, gave the food one last longing look and left the busy restaurant. The air hit him the moment he stepped outside, attacking his face with stuffy steam and ash smelling smoke. Those fumes didn’t smell any healthier than eating food half rotten with mold… no, that may be an exaggeration.

Code 9 for a rampaging Ame, in Chinatown no less. Shuto would never forgive them if the guy destroyed any of his favourite restaurants, that would be quite horrible, quite horrible indeed. Many establishments were old, foundations built many distant years ago and he did not think he’d have the mental capacity to watch them be torn down mercilessly, that would be such a shame.

He made his way leisurely through the street, it wasn’t hard to pinpoint where the commotion was, just had to find where people were fleeing from. Under the red lanterns swinging frantically, to where trembled in the ground could be felt as Shuto walked, crevices were soon visible as he approached the site.

Shuto was a hard worker, but he hated when he had to work when he had been perfectly fine resting. He sighed, strolling through the streets with his hands deep in his pocket like a casual tourist wondering what was written in those foreign letters covering the lanterns and some shop fronts. It was quite a scene, empty tables with cracks running under them, the scared occupants having fled from the first noise they heard. Animals too had deserted the area, only smoke rose from chimneys and dust still semi-hovering in the air. Shuto batted the fumes aside, scanning the surroundings for danger and trying to look for the cause of this all.

But of course, alike to the many missions they have had within their reasonably small organisation, the Ame didn’t make it easy for them to track or subdue, as expected. The Ames weren't stupid, at least, the majority of them. Shuto hoped so much that they would just show themself and be done with it, he had a table of Korean Barbecue waiting for him.

Finding an alleyway to wait for the others who were definitely on their way, Shuto hid himself partially in the shadows, he didn’t want to make a move while unaccompanied, that was a dangerous zone where you just did not cross. Being a sad, lonely unpaired Vie, he had to wait for another unpaired Ame, or he could do nothing and wait for some other backup to appear and do the work themself, that could work too.

Now he just had to wait, as patiently as he could for everyone else to appear.

"Some yearn for love, some desire for power. They’re not the same.”

[Name]
Shuto Kohaku

[Age]
23

[Gender/Sexuality]
Male|He/him|Gay

[Personality]
ISTJ|Chaotic Neutral|6w3

Shuto is quiet, independent and rather rational. He will almost always commit to what he believes in and do what he promises. He will always mean what he says no matter if it’s hurtful or not. Shuto finds himself more drawn to a small, close group rather than a scene with many people. He is very responsible and will do his part, and more, sometimes. You could say he’s the one you always hope to get in your group projects. He will own up to mistakes and take accountability if needed. Following rules like they are his own life. Shuto, however, has a strong distaste for attention. He doesn’t like being in the centre nor does he like having everyone looking at him, he’s rather be in the corner and forgotten. He also never really lies.

Sometimes Shuto is seen as un-empathetic, which is sometimes true. He will put his values over others if that’s what he needs for success. He doesn’t complain and is dedicated to his goals. Which means he won’t tell people if things are wrong and rather hide them away to avoid the consequences that come with them.

[Description]
Shuto has black hair, with white at the tips. The hair reaches his shoulders and he often leaves it down, or sometimes in a short ponytail. His right eye is black while his left is golden yellow. He is 5’8 (173cm). He wears plain colour shirts with big coats and jackets over them.

[Role]
Vie

[Affiliation]
Lightchaser

[Backstory]
Shuto grew up in the city, pollution, cars and all. He always went around on his own as his parents were often not at home so he was basically free to do whatever he wanted to. Although with his constitution, he spent more time in a hospital than at home. Even the smallest cut causing him pain and discomfort, taking weeks to heal. Shuto also never went to school, his parents afraid of him getting hurt and homeschooled him. So because of this, he doesn’t have much experience with making friends or just basic common sense. He was pretty isolated, but he didn’t know that.

Sometimes there were guests that were around, Shuto had to be a host, although he barely knew how to interact with them. So he would mess up, pour the tea and spill it, nervously forget to bring out refreshments for the guests, all sorts, until his parents told him to just stay in his room, and the guests wouldn’t hear a thing from him. But Shuto made the most of his time, he learnt instruments and languages, developing skills that aren’t going to be useful in the future but it was pretty much all he could do.

After some time, during his teenage years, Shuto’s parents grew more tired of constantly worrying and fretting over his very annoying injuries, and started to ignore him. They knew less and less about their son as time went on, so after he turned eighteen, Shuto left to forge his own path with the Lightchasers.

[Powers]-Override-
For a second and up to five minutes, Shuto will have increased perception, reaction speed. reflexes and physical strength, he will subconsiously ignore pain and fatigue to continue fighting. However, after each use, he will fall asleep/unconscious for the same amount of time and the skill cannot be used within a certain time within each other. For example, if used for 15 seconds, he gets buffs for 15s and falls asleep for 15 seconds, and the ability cannot be used for another 15s after waking up.

-Slow recovery-
Due to his brain being heightened and prioritising his mental over his physical abilities, Shuto has slower healing and recovery. A paper cut typically takes 2-3 days without medical treatment, for him it could take a week.

“So what? We can just fight because I know both of you got weak ass knees and probably can’t run meters without being outta breath.”

Mew smirked at them and looked hungrily at the oncoming hoard of monsters.

“Or we can run. If you guys wanna.”

The boars looked super yummy. She wasn’t gonna lie that she didn’t want to cook one up. But out of utmost consideration for her slow and old companions. Mew shall entrust them with the decision(s).

Mew took one look at the boar and sprinted off after April, with much greater success as she had a dex of 5, overtaking April and then stopping once every few metres to look back at the boar and April wheezing to catch up.

“You know. We could kill it and then make it into Barbeque…”

Mew stared at the juicy and yummy looking meal. It was very tempting to catch and deep fry it.
