Welcome to the land of Illustria, a kingdom filled with vast forests and beautiful scenery, home to many peaceful and thriving ecosystems. Not too long ago, about 75 years ago, a very small group of people decided to get away from the ways of the ever changing world around them and start another life among nature. The chose the land of Illustria, miles and miles away from any other human civilization and surrounded by beautiful and wonderous forests. They settled down and begun building a small village, which grew and grew to become the settlement it is today. This settlement is called "The Neo Settlement", symbolizing the purpose of the village. The name comes from the original settler's desire to move away from the massive cities and ever-growing technology, and live a more peaceful and simple life among nature. Of course they still have basic technology to make their lives easier, it's nothing too crazy or complex. The village is still decently sized though, only home to about a hundred people. That doesn't matter to them though, they're quite happy with their lives.
Today was just another day, childrean were playing around the village and the border of the forest, and others were doing their chores and hanging around. Suddenly, that peace was disrupted when a scout came running out of the forest with quite a shocked look on his face. People tried to ask what was wrong, but all he would say was, "I need to speak to the elder!" He continued running, only slowing down when he neared the elder's house, entering quite abruptly and startling her. "People! People on the other side of the forest, not too far from here! They're not human though, they got wings sprouting from their backs- like fairies! You have to believe me, I know what I saw!" It took a minute for the elder to comprehend the situation, as well as halting her work on her tapestry, but the next thing she did was order the scout to not let anyone hear of his news due to the curiosity and panic it might bring. And with that, life within the village begun to change. Nothing would be the same anymore. Of course, word spread quickly somehow and everyone knew of the so-called "Fairy Village". Orders were soon issued that forbade travel in the forest, and the rules in the village became stricter. Of course, curiosity would get the best of some people and they would end up travelling through the woods to have a glimpse of the secret village themselves.
For the fairies, their lives in their village called "Maplestring Village" were going as normal as well. It was the day after a massive festival, so most of the older ones were cleaning up while the children played as well. That is, until one child noticed a pair of unfamiliar eyes peering from the bushes. These eyes belonged to the scout mentioned before, and the eye contact made caused him to run off while the child went and told his mother. Word, again, spread around quickly and rumors of another mythical species called "humans" hung around every one of their minds. The elder, being one of the only ones to have ever seen a human before, quickly ordered everyone to stay out of the forest and enforced stricter rules. Much like the elder of the Neo Settlement, he wasn't sure how dangerous their situation was and only wanted to protect his people. But as always, curiosity got the best of some and they broke the rules to see if the rumors were true. This is where the story begins, you may ge one of those curious minds who set off to see the other village, or you might be one who stays back and follows orders. Either way, your life has changed in an instant and you won't miss the opportunity to see everything unfold.

Name - Jarrén Silvestor

Appearance - He has golden blond, thick medium length hair that goes to his chin and bright jade eyes that almost seem to glow in the dark. He has the ears of his people, long and pointed tips that resemble the ears of an elf, and his skin is incredibly smooth and fair. He has wings similar to a bird's, which he has never let show to the others in his village. He is about 5'10 and decently thin, seemingly having very little muscle on his bones. he wears a dark cloak over his plain white t-shirt and jeans, which he uses to hide his wings. People see it more as something to keep him warm as he shows signs of getting cold very easily in a slight breeze.
Specialty - He is able to speak to plants and animals, and for some reason he can manipulate the minds of humans to an extent by whispering in their ear, not even the other fairies with the former ability can do this.
Personality - He doesn't like going out much or talking to others, but he is still one of the more loved people among the village. He is great with talking even when he doesn't do much of it, and always leaves a good impression. He spends most of his day working, mainly farming, so he has an excuse not to be around others. He knows very well of who he is and sometimes wanders off into Maplestring to observe the other fairies. He knows that he would cause a panic if he showed himself, which leaves a depressing reminder in his mind, so he watches from the bushes, unable to be noticed. The rest is TBRPD
Background/Extra Info - At a young age he was orphaned by a young lady when she discovered him alone in the woods. He was taken into the village of humans and was raised as one. He was about 6 at the time, but he was extremely tall and intelligent for his age. Somehow, no one except the woman who took him in knows he is a fairy, which is hard to imagine since the wings of fairies have a wingspan of 12 feet. He, like other fairies are very vulnerable to metal which woud seemingly make him suspicious among the humans, but he still wears an unusual amount of it on his clothing. His cloak has metal loops at the end of it, dangling at his feet as he walks. It is also held at the neck by a small metal pin, and he almost constantly carries tools on his belt that he has to make sure he doesn't touch. You could say he does this to avoid suspicion, but no one really knows if that's the case. Truth is, he does it to keep himself alert and constantly thinking about it so no other thoughts reach his mind unless he wishes it to. The rest is TBRPD

Appearance -
Even if he's trying to pass as a human it's easy to tell that Mao is a fairy. Perhaps its his sharp yet alluring face, almost innocent in its mischievous glint and petite frame. Or perhaps its the way his firey hair glows under the sun, a matching grin spreading across his hair as sunlight scatters through his sunset wings and dots his cheeks. He has dawn painted over his iris' always sharp and observant, as if he knows things that even the elder doesn't know. Either way, Mao is clearly a fairy through and through, even if the presence of very human clothing and accessories attempts to prove your otherwise. His pointed ears are heavily pierced, a product of the fae's artistic nature as even his clothes have erratic designs and splashes of color that he himself paints on.

Despite looking like the sun personified, Mao has very little to do with the sun herself.
Instead, Mao acts almost like a voice of the forest. At times the forest will speak to him and he will listen. If the forest allows him, he will tell others of what the forest has said but most of the time he just keeps this information to himself. The specialty is akin to talking to plants, however his ability only applies to the plants that grow in the forest. He hears the words and whispers which startling clarity and in return the forest bends to his will. Mao tries not to abuse this sort of power instead working with Straiton to protect and take care of the forest

Mao isn't soft, no matter how much the other faeries insist as such. He's a bit of a prick actually, preferring to keep to himself. He is happy to spend time in the forest, communing amongst the very trees who birthed him and gave him a home. He is always deeply curious about humans ever since he first heard whispers of them among the trees, always begging the forest to tell him stories of the human settlement. Thus, it feels like he knows the Neo Settlement like the back of his hand.
Because of his grumpy nature and preference for solitude, Mao often becomes a easy target for teasing and though Mao will fight back, everyone knows that it's all in good fun. After all, no one would seriously target Mao unless they wanted the wrath of the forest to retaliate against them. He has a knack for music and the arts, naturally expressing himself through splatters of plant dye and song. Some humans say that if you venture into the woods at night, you just might here a haunting tune
As a pseudo-caretaker of the forest, Mao does care a lot about the inhabitants, doing his best to look after the other faeries and the forest. He is almost like an absent father, looking after everyone form afar and letting them make mistakes, while protecting them from anything that may seriously harm them. Yeah, he may be soft but he'd rather eat metal than admit it

Mao was born quite unconventionally.
Unlike others who were born into a mother's embrace, Mao was born swaddled in moss as the trees gathered him up in their branches. A dryad some might say but Mao was never connected to just one tree but instead the forest itself. He is not the whole forest, just a small portion of it, but that in itself gave him an unconventional start. He grew along his leafy siblings, so small and so fragile that often times he had to be coddled. But he was never in any danger as Mao's curious nature led him on a great many mini adventures
Perhaps the forest led him there, but Mao was found by Straiton who then gave the young fae over to a couple who had recently lost their own child. There, Mao lived among the fairy village but never quite grew out of his wild roots. His adoptive parents were more or less willing to let their new child run free in the woods, but the drew the line at receiving prophetic lines when one day he said point blank that one of the elder trees was rotting from the inside out. Maybe not the greatest first week impression but hey, he had to start disappointing people somewhere

since i have a suspicious amount of time off from work these next couple of weeks-
making a form out of interest, if that's okay c':

being one of the younger residents of her village, Hana stands at just 4'6" tall. she has tawny brown hair, which is kept neatly trimmed at the shoulders, and large caramel puppy-dog eyes that many find it difficult to say "no" to. due to spending the majority of her days outside, she is lightly sunkissed, but also often littered in bruises and grazes. therefore, as to not ruin her nicer clothes, Hana is commonly seen dressed up rather boyish, in woollen sweaters that drown her tiny form and knee-length shorts. whilst she's not one to fuss over her appearance, she is rather attached to the gold locket that was passed down to her by her late grandmother. containing a picture of her parents on one side, and one of herself on the other, Hana likes to keep it close, typically keeping it tucked down her shirt and out of sight.

an eager beaver: keen and always ready to go on her next adventure. but whilst that enthusiasm of hers may seem sweet initially, it also comes hand-in-hand with a pinch bit of spice. because this girl is also pretty oblivious when it comes to boundaries, especially when her impulsive streak takes over (and mixed with her altruistic nature) her presence can be easily made overbearing for some. please don't get mad at her though, she genuinely just wants to help. however, should one do so, it's okay. Hana isn't one to allow herself to be down for too long and will be certain to return after some time alone to reflect with a bunch of wildflowers that she's picked as an apology.

rain or shine, this girl would much rather be outside than cooped up indoors. her parents are always busy, and as an only child, playing alone isn't exactly fun. so, more often than not, she can be found playing amongst the other village children.

Appearance - Bonjour.
Specialty- Foxglove can speak to animals, and she uses this ability to know what's happening outside the village without having to go outside. She likes speaking to birds specifically, since they can fly and see so many things from the air.
She also has skills in agriculture. Almost everything she eats, she has grown by herself in her very own garden.
Personality - Calm and kind, Foxglove is seen as a creative and energetic fairy who takes pride in her work. She isn't afraid to show her hard work and creations to others, who often praise her and tell her nice things.
Like the flower she is named after, she isn't afraid to let go of her kind personality to let out her more grumpy nature. Thankfully she only lets go of her kind nature when she's angry, which is very rare.
Background/Extra Info - Foxglove owns a pet, (sorta) a crow that she nicknamed "Night" who started coming to Foxglove's house for a nice chat and some snacks when she was around 14. Eventually Night started taking residence in a nest above Foxglove's house, which made people consider the raven as her pet. Night loves to bring back little gifts each day, ranging from seeds, flowers, and the occasional non metal human object.

Age - 11 (I love making young characters, probably because I'm the oldest at home and that can get boring sometimes...)
Species - Fairies
Appearance - Slender and graceful, some may even say that she is attractive. She likes wearing clothes that match what she is feeling at the time (like pink/yellow/rainbow for when she is really happy, dark colours when she isn't feeling so good...). She gathers flowers, flower petals, leaves, and other things in the forest to add to her look. She is said to "glow", there is a light around her, that changes colour. Her wings are transparent, but light up with in rainbow colours when light hits them. Her eyes are also rainbow, but a good blend, not a crazy mutant alien kind of thing. They also light up when light hits them.
Specialty (i.e. a fairy who can talk to animals or a human who is excellent with their hands) - She feels attracted to light, but she is yet to show any "power". Some fairies whisper that she does have light magic.
Personality - Calm, clever, and friendly, you may be suprised to learn that she isn't so quick to make friends. She always thinks carefully before becoming friends or trusting with someone, almost like she has trust issues.
Background/Extra Info - Nothing really special about her background, just a normal fairy (mostly, since her strange light makes her a bit special).

Specialty (i.e. a fairy who can talk to animals or a human who is excellent with their hands) - a master craftswoman. Her specialty lies in crafting basic metal weapons, and she’s decent with a bow and arrow, and a spear.
Personality - Reserved, quiet and mostly an observer, she stands on the sidelines to watch as squabbles unfold. Her curiosity is limited to silent observation, but she will speak her mind if she feels like it. She prefers to work on crafting little things for the younger ones to play with, out of wood. if you’re a child, and have gathered the courage to talk to her, she appears friendly, even without smiling. Be prepared for small tokens like a wooden carving, a leaf bracelet or some shiny trinket she’s found. She spends her days idly crafting items, or playing with kids, all the while constantly taking in information about everyone and everything around her. She may be good with certain weapons, but if there’s one thing she hates, it’s fighting. Try as you might to engage her in a fight, practice or not, and you’ll most likely end up feeling pissed off at her.

It is said that Sylver has the power of the moonlight itself, though you mustn't believe every rumor you hear. Their wings become surrounded by glowing particles at night, blessed with the ability to create illusions and trick the mind. These illusions are not very strong, they only work at night, and they work poorly on others who are expecting a trick. They also have a special bond with other creatures of the night, befriending and even speaking to the nocturnal animals of the forest, though only on rare occasion can they talk with them. Many rumors surround Sylver and his mysterious powers, and he often stays awake at night to escape from others. She feels most comfortable in the dark, with only the moon or his wings to give him light.
Personality -
During the day, when the sun is out, Sylver is anxious, quiet, and shy. She dislikes approaching people and dislikes others approaching her even more. They mostly keep to himself, and if they need to they will hide to get away from a ruckus. He hates big crowds and hates loud noises even more, and is easily startled and quick to scare.
When the sun falls, though, and the black blanket the night sky has to offer arises from dusk, it's as if they've become a whole other person. They're chatty, more positive, and much more confident in himself. However, at night, very few are awake, so he talks to the animals in and around the village that also stay up. He finds peace in the dark and quiet that nightfall brings, and he stays up late to enjoy it. He's tired the next day only because he's not allowed to sleep when there is work to be done. If you approach him at night (if you're awake), they would most likely be much more responsive than if you tried to speak with them during the day. Just don't sneak up on her, though. Even at night, when her senses are more attuned, she gets very easily startled, and she is still not the most courageous of the bunch.

Sylver was never raised to fear interaction, but he had always grown up alone, with few good friends, so they became wary of others. Soon, they began shutting others out on purpose to avoid being hurt. Eventually, they lost all their friends, until they found a lone black fox in the woods at night.

Sylver doesn't have many fairy friends, and he's not good at talking to people, even at night, but that all disappears when they're around animals. One of his best friends is a fox that only appears right after everyone has gone to sleep. Everyone except for Sylver.
Sylver has a fear of abandonment and a fear of spiders. They are the only life form she absolutely refuses to get anywhere near.

Species - Human
Appearance - Tall, muscular but bowed from years of work and hard toil. He has a face marked with smile lines and bright blue eyes, salt and pepper hair that's always slicked back, and a thick dark beard.
Specialty - Orion has a talent for spotting differnet types of flora and fauna, which has helped him in assisting where he can in identifying poisonous plants, animals that can be hunted or animals to avoid, etc.
Personality - Orion is a grandfatherly type, who has a special love for children. He can get along with just about anyone, and has a special way of making even the most cold of hearts melt. However, he is protective and loyal, and will do what is nesscesary, though he is a peacemaker, and usually tries to find the peaceful solution.
Background/Extra Info - Orion especially loves dogs (that's a fun fact lol)
