Just then, the door quickly opened and another figure emerged. It was a tall, muscular man that was around the age of 30. Aether opened her eyes to the new sound and watched carefully. Something about this man made her feel uneasy, like she recognized him from somewhere. "Am I... Interrupting something?" The man cautiously asked upon seeing Faith and her mentor. He also seemed quite surprised to see Aether in her position, and that clue clicked with her. She knew him, and he knew her. "Kioto.." She whispered, not moving a muscle. Her eyes were half shut, but they still looked intimidating. This man had mentored her brother, and now he returned to mentor her. Come to think of it... her brother mentioned the role of mentor a year or two ago, but the topic was immediately dropped. Apparently, the Capital refused his victor benefits, as well as downsides, due to the way he won the games. He wasn't supposed to win with the power of friendship, but he somehow did, and those useless scum hated him for it. He could've been here right now, mentoring her, or at least the oter boy, but Kioto took his place.

Raiyhan Vale.

Raiyhan was staring at a patch on the floor.

"...yeah..."

He muttered shakily.

"It's just....all so....confusing.

Hard to comprehend.

That we're going to the Games."

He sighed heavily.

"I never pictured this moment, when I would stand in this train.

Never."

Raiyhan shook his head wearily.

"I just hope....one of us makes it.

I hope you do.

Someone from our District.

I hope you win-

Marjoree."

Majoree Sinclair (Location: Train Enroute to Capitol)

Majoree felt her throat tighten.

"Don't," she rasped out. "Don't wish for that. Please."

She knew how crazy it sounded. How little sense it made. That he wouldn't understand- he hadn't seen that horrible mark on the boy's face and those wild eyes... He didn't understand what it was to see other suffer because of you. How much you deserved to suffer for all the pain your existence had caused them.

In growing up as one of them, maybe he was blessed. He could curse who he could rightfully curse and he didn't have to face his own face in the mirror at the end of the day, and see the weight of the world which had been placed upon his shoulder. The fates of many, sacrificed for the fates of the few-

It all was so messed up, wasn't it?

Avoiding his gaze, she stood up, bunching her skirt up to avoid bumping the teacup. She inched to the side, taking care not to jar the table, and then broke into a fast walk, escaping as fast as her puny, weak, pathetic, selfish legs could carry her.

Agria could feel the walls closing in. She could feel evreything suffocating her. A constant ringing sound. She clapped her hands over her ears, but it wouldn't stop. She had to get out. Agria could hear footsteps outside, and knew that, in the back of her mind, she wasn't supposed to do this, but she had. to. get. out. Agria pushed past anyone in her way, including the mentor outside of the train car, and kept going, as far as she could. Agria accidentally bumped into someone, and fell, crawling away in fear, hands shielding her head.

Faith raises an eyebrow at Kioto. “No you aren’t. Do you have a problem with what we’re doing? You’re Kioto. Aether’s mentor, amirite? That beside you is my mentor. You might know her. Or maybe you don’t.”

Lilith waves goodbye to Asahiko, and skips to her own carriage where her mentor is. She smiles at her mentor.

Majoree Sinclair (Location: Train Enroute to Capitol)

Majoree gave a yelp and a curse as something clattered to the ground. In a sweeping motion, she collected it, and snapped it into the folds of her skirt. She regarded the ball at her feet for a second-

Curiously, she blinked. There was no hostility in those unearthly blue eyes. Slowly, gently, she kneeled down, her hands coming to Agria's shoulders. They hovered there, and for a long moment, she hesitated. Then she pulled them back, and instead tilted her head at the girl.

"Hey," she said softly. "Hey, I won't hurt you. Calm down. I'm another Tribute. Like you-" She hesitated at the words, but gave her head a brisk shake. The strange girl looked so terrified... "I'm not with the Capitol?" she tried.

Agria blinked slowly, coming to her senses, though the bruises still throbbed and a few stray tears fell down her face. She sighed, and her shoulders relaxed as she stood up, gesturing to her throat and shaking her head, in hopes Majoree would understand.

Raising a hand goodbye, Asahiko watched the weird girl go. What a nutcase, but the crazy people always intrigued him the most. After all, like minded people begot those like them. Soon enough, his mentor arrived, a quiet woman who didn't look all too remarkable. Her only defining trait if Asahiko had to name one would be her freakishly tall stature just like him. Camila, as she had introduced herself as, had been someone Asahiko had worked with one year but she had been reaped the next year. Their shared vague recollection of each other made it difficult to break the awkwardness but his district mate was having no such problems, chattering away with Camila almost frantically. It was clear that the other didn't want to die.

The door to their cabin hissed open and an sturdy looking man stepped through. Most notably, he was missing an arm, a detail that Hwa zeroed in on immediately. The man introduced himself as Chaff and immediately went towards a bottle of Henny that sat on the nearby table. His eyes held pity for the two of them but Hwa ignored it in favor of hiding herself in the couch and staying silent

Aether looked back and forth between the two before resorting to simply scowling at Kioto. She had heard a decent amout about him from her brother, who tried not speaking a single hurtful word about him, but she could tell it was tough doing so. If her brother had this much hatred in his heart for a human, how terrible was this man? She hadn't looked far enough back at the records, so she didn't exactly know his strategy, but she could tell it involved a lot of cold bloodshed. Maybe their intentions and styles were similar enough that his tips could be useful to her, but... Morally, was it ok? Of course, she was only considering morals due to her brother, because otherwise there was no reason to. The Capital clearly didn't have any morals, and she wouldn't doubt that half the people participating in these games did either. "I'm not here for you, or your mentor, and I don't wish to talk with you either. I'm here for her" Kioto finally spoke, but his voice was sharp and demanding, and the finger he raised at Aether seemed to be filled with hatred. Why didn't he care about the boy from her district instead? Was he so focused on her and his past with Dante, that he was going to ignore the one who needed help the most? "Come on, get up. You're coming with me." He reached down and grabbed Aether by the arm, squeezing it tightly so she couldn't pull away. At first, she tried struggling but realized it was pointless, and she just gave up. Her other arm fell to her side and her feet mindlessly followed Kioto. She took one dull look at Faith before being dragged away.

Kendo had followed Agria after her quite violent awakening. "Hey, you he-" Kendo stopped as he noticed Agria and Majoree. "uhhh... Hello...?" Kendo looked around. "Wait. How'd I get into this train car?" He shook his head. "Nevermind. Hey, we gotta get back to our train car, yeah?" Kendo said to Agria.

*Grimm had awakened from her slumber, she hadn’t slept that well, just like every other time she slept. She would stretch out her arms and legs. She would open her bag and would take inventory of the many different items inside. Berries, check. Water, check. Matches, check. Bandages, double check. Gauze, check. Medical scissors, check. Disinfectant, check. Splint supplies, check. Grimm had remembered to pack extra before she left the makeshift shed that she called home, that was on top of the large apartment building. Would she ever come back from there, she didn’t know. She would grab a small handful of berries and would close her bag. She would wipe them off before she consumed them*

Mike pushed up his hat so he could look at Chaff, he saw his the pity in his eyes and decided to say something about, "Don't pity me, my life is fine." Mike said before he pushed the hat back down to cover his eyes, slowly, he fell asleep.

Majoree Sincliar (Location: Train Enroute to Capitol)

Majoree blinked. The smaller girl... her strange gestures... Oh- Her mouth opened slightly. Then she shut it, with a nod. I understand, she tried to convey through her eyes.

"Sorry," her voice was quiet. "I didn't mean to bump into you. I... wasn't exactly paying attention." Selfish selfish selfish, everything you do is selfish- "I'm Majoree. District 9."

Agria's head was clear now, and she took a little breath, a gasp like she was suprsied, but just enough to clear her head more, to chase away those little thoughts left over. She dug the crumpled paper from her pocket, and the stubby pencil. She scrawled ou, "A G R I A" in careful letters, having little pratice writing. Agria prayed someone knew sign languge on this train...She tried to gesture to herself, trying to make Majoree understand it was her fault, then looked to Kendo and nodded, giving Majoree a wave with the tips of her fingers, the other hand wrapping around herself protectively, a move that took no thought.

Minya Reedshaw.

Minya sat down, rocking back and forth in a corner, her face terrified.

Tears ran down her face.

"...cap-itol.....hunger...games.."

She muttered to herself.

Minya straightened up.

"I'm being silly. I can do this."

I can't do this.

"I stand a ....small chance."

I don't.

"You...could win...-"

No I'm not.

Who are you kidding, Minya?

You're obviously going to be the first one.

The first Tribute to die first.

Majoree Sincliar (Location: Train Enroute to Capitol)

The name. Agria. Something about it made her heart ache for home. The smell of grain flooding the air, stale and sweaty. The sharp amber eyes of her classmates and the golden sunlight which streamed down through the arched trees which circled above the District. The feeling throbbed, but for some reason, her heart sang at the pain.

"Agria..." She said softly. "That's a nice name. It's nice to meet you." She wrapped her fingers around her wrist, trying to conceal her shaking. This girl would have to die to save Raiyhan. She'd have to kill everyone here to save the life of one.

In reality, being in these games stole more lives than it helped save-

Majoree ground her teeth together, relishing in the sweet, sweet pain. Yet it didn't stifle the rampant thought which was-

"Want to form an alliance?" she burst.

District 7 Car

"Mouse?" Riggs' clear, deep voice rosounded through the room. He took a step closer. Pale blue eyes glowed in the dim light of the room. "Are you... crying?" His voice sounded unspeakably delighted. He was moving towards her again.

Minya stood up.

"N-no...just...allergies."

She said quickly, rubbing her face.

"What's it to you anways?"

The tiny girl glared at him.

"Come to make fun of me again?"

District 7 Carriage

Riggs hummed in thought. "Make fun of you? Did I do that?"

He took another step closer to her. Dim light from the barred window slanted, and cast a bar across his face. His face was set in an enormous grin, delight and enjoyment lighting up each feature. "I was just curious as to why you're missing your teeth. Usually you're far more snappish- you never let down your guard for a predator."

Then he broke into a sweeping motion, where he sat down next to her, head dropping to the side, eyes directly meeting hers. His grin widened, somehow.

"And yet, right here, just before the best time in your entire miserable life, you have. I wonder why?"

Agria hesitated, looking back at Kendo. She had managed to clear her head of those poisounous little thoughts, but they were slowly creeping back in, pushing past the new guards she had set up again like bugs crawling through holes, crawling and skittering and filling her brain, and they wouldn't stop until suddenly-

She was hit with the realization.

She would have to kill people. This was a thought she'd tried to avoid, but if she was ever going to keep her promise, she had to win. She had to. She wasn't going to leave the rest of those children alone with Auntie, whose beatings and harsh words would kill them. Agria had to win. And alliances were the best way. And so, she nodded, before fleeing back to her train car.

Kendo silently watched Agira and Majoree's conversation, and stepped to the side of the door as Agira rushed through. "... I'm assuming that offer of an alliance doesn't spread to me, does it? No, probably not." Kendo shrugged, as he turned to leave. "If you do need another person to help, I'm open."
