To our new students, welcome to Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. To returning students, welcome back! Today we celebrate, for it is the day Harry Potter defeated Lord Voldemort, bringing peace to the world. Now, a few words before the feast. Mr Filch tells me, for what he says is the 378th time.” Headmistress Minerva Mcgonagall pauses, letting out an audible sigh of annoyance, before continuing. “Fanged Frisbees, Firewhisky, and several hundred other items, the full list on the notice boards, are not allowed. Students are forbidden to go into the Forbidden Forest, unless accompanied by a teacher. House points will be awarded for good behaviour, and points will be deducted for misconduct. Now, you must be hungry, so tuck in, and let the Sorting begin!”


The Sorting Hat opens its brim, and sings:

Oh you may not think I'm pretty,
But don't judge on what you see,
I'll eat myself if you can find
A smarter hat than me.

You can keep your bowlers black,
Your top hats sleek and tall,
For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat
And I can cap them all.

There's nothing hidden in your head
The Sorting Hat can't see,

Where you ought to be.

You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve, and chivalry

Everyone claps, muttering and mumbling about what the sorting hat just said, but fall silent as the Sorting begins. Various names are called, before the final name rings out.

“Emika Tenshi Smith” McGonagall calls out, rolling up the parchment. (ShatteredDiamond, choose your house!)


Food appears on the table, and the students tuck in. Faith begins piling food on her plate. She turns to Dimitrov, asking, “How was your summer?”. Meanwhile, Emily turns to Grace. “How are you?” She asks

Sterling was talking with the other Hufflepuffs about her excitement of being able to take Care of Magical creatures as an elective. She also mentioned how she became an Animagus during the summer break and how the registering process went.

Jules was many things. Being patient enough to sit still was unfortunately not one of them. Ever since he had sat down to go though his final Sorting Ceremony, he couldn't stop the slight fidgeting and ticks. The ceremony was underscored by the nearly inaudible tapping of nails on wood, a gentle rap-tap-tap keeping a steady rhythm. His actions didn't go unnoticed by other Hufflepuffs in his year, their concerned glances adding to the odd rhythm of nerves. He wasn't sure why, perhaps it was the odd sort of prophecy that had just been gleefully sung before them, but this final year was already beginning on an odd note.

But this was Hogwarts. What year would it be if there weren't at least 12 oddities that occurred within the first month of the school year? Shaking his head slightly, Jules schooled his actions and focused on the ceremony. This was the last time he would be seeing this, he wanted to remember it clearly. It all went by almost like a blur and he almost didn't notice when the food appeared, heaps of mouthwateringly appealing food laid out before the students. Blanching at the sheer amount of things to eat, Jules took only a few choice bites before a subtle wave of his hand and a self made charm was cast to hide the food just to his eyes. Gently picking at his food, he gently tuned out of the conversation, mind a few paces away as he watched the ceremony without quite registering what was going on

Rayne was doodling on a piece of paper, as she knew what would happen, the usual speech at the beginning of the school year yada, yada, yada. As she was drawing she suddenly heard something different... a new prophecy was being spoken by the sorting hat so she decided this must be important and put the paper and pencil into her pocket to listen. She heard her last name Grace, she thought someone might have been talking to her so she looked around the room, now looking at everyone at the Ravenclaw table she looked at Emily "Hey Emily a-are you talking to me? If you are I guess I am okay, if you not sorry then." Being Rayne she got hungry and started to put food onto her plate she grabbed her fork and started munching, the turkey especially. (Yum!)

Sterling watched the sorting ceremony with excitement. "I wonder who will be the newest members in Hufflepuff..." She muttered to herself while eating all the delicious food layed out before them.

Emika Tenshi-Smith raised her head proudly as she made her way to the front of the first year crowd. She put on a facade of confidence when she was a jittery mess inside. "This is so exciting!" she thought as she sat on the stool and her vision was slightly obscured by the Sorting Hat.
"Eager I see. Don't mind me peeking in to see where you belong~" A new voice rang through her mind. Surprised Emika thought towards the voice, "You are the Sorting Hat, aren't you?" A deep chuckle echoed. "Indeed I am. Now enough dilly-dallying. Time to see what you're made of." A probing feeling occured in multiple areas of Emika's head. "Interesting~. Very bold, intelligent, and, oh? Much ambition. Very cunning nature. I know what to do with you~." The Sorting Hat's presence left her mind and the flaps of the Sorting Hat moved to declare, "SLYTHERIN!"

Sterling clapped alongside the other students. Slytherin was known for having some mean students but Sterling didn't care, they just get a bad rep and not everyone in Slytherin is bad. That's how she thought at least. You shouldn't judge someone because of their house.

How nice thought Rayne a new student! And a Slytherin to smart, and cunning! How amazing she seems nice and looks so pretty! Emika Tenshi-Smith is a nice name too! She started to clap as she thought to herself I love snakes
their so pretty she continued to draw but this time she drew a snake. 'Maybe I could introduce myself meeting new students is always nice' she thought even though it would be a brief hello.

Mickey was sitting with the other Hufflepuffs as he started to put food on his plate, he was exited for his second year at Hogwarts as he started to put food on his plate. He smiled and started talking to the other Hufflepuff members.

“Yes Rayne, I was talking to you. Forgive me, your other name just slipped out. It was an accident.” Emily replied, smoothly.

Faith clapped along with the others, smiling as a new Slytherin joined their table. “Well done!”

"Oh it's fine I just wasn't sure. How about you are you doing good?"

Mickey ate most of the food on his plate before he stopped, " Oh, hello there!" Mickey said to Sterling.

"Hey." Sterling answered, seeing that another Hufflepuff wanted to engage in a conversation. "How were things during break, fellow Hufflepuff?"

" Things were fine, what about you?" Mickey said happily.

"The usual. Relaxing while my parents are away." Sterling explained. "You excited this year?"

"Yeah! I wonder if my owls here..." Mickey said.

"I can't wait until we do get to go back to our dorms." Sterling mentioned. "my poor Kneazle must be lonely, in the dorms all alone.."

" You have an Owl?" Mickey asked.

---

"Sadly no, they seem cool pets though." Sterling answered. "I have a Kneazel as a pet. They're like cats in a way."

" Oh, well ok. I just thought I might say then my owls name is Owlbert...Just thought I might say it." Mickey said.
