No seriously, I was just guessing. I haven't found a Map myself so far, sooo ... if the area description isn't giving any tipps - how about trial and error? :P

When you start a rumble mission, there are small type icons right under the area selection. So... those will tell you.

You can tell by Riako's screenshot. Marine Cave is Water, Terra Cave allows both Fire and Ground, and Sky Tower is Flying.
(Personally, I think Sky Tower ought to allow Dragon as well, as Rayquaza is both of those types, and if Groudon can allow two types when it's single-typed, it makes sense for Rayquaza to allow both of its own types. Of course, it's up to Riako, but I think it may be nice if this is considered. ^^)

Whereas it's easy for Ground-Pokémon to explore a volcano.

Zorged, if Dragon as a whole can't make it, Riako is not going to go through EVERY Dragon-type and see if it can fly, and he can't just add some flying ones and not others. As such, no, it won't.

I want to get Terra Cave and Sky Pillar. Marine Cave would be nice, too, but I'd prefer those other 2 before that one.

Well my level 118 Walrein managed to defeat Kyogre. So it IS possible with level ~100

Is it like random or something? My level 93 Vaporeon managed to defeat Kyogre.....

Or maybe the difficulty is different depending on which map you're on.

I think it's random; my level 114 Yorebro failed to defeat Kyogre, so I don't think it depends on the map.

If it's random then it sucks that my map goes away and I have to find a new one Dx I'd think a boss fight would require us to train our Pokemon not cross our fingers. Guess I'll just have to find some keys and hope to find another map xD

Well it's not "that" random. A Level 1 Starly will most likely not be able to defeat Rayquaza, whereas Level 50 Staravia might have a chance against it. And a Level 200 Staraptor will definitely defeat it ;)
It's like in a real Pokémon battle: Using a Level 100 Pokémon doesn't necessarily mean that you're going to win the battle.
Just a small example - the exact numbers might be slightly different.

In the games isn't the max level your Pokemon can be level 100? I mean sure I wouldn't necessarily win the battle but I think I'd have a higher chance if I'm the max level xD

But I guess the question is what the levels of these bosses are (which I don't expect an answer to haha) but again if a level 70 can beat it and a level 100+ cannot that seems weird to me. I don't know, guess I just have to try again and get lucky. Maybe the next time I do it with my Yveltal I'll win, just glad that levels do have some sort of factor at least and it isn't totally random.

Just something that came to my mind. Both Walrein and Vaporeon are able to use Ice moves, maybe this gave them an advantage to Kyogre. But then I don't understand why Emboar lost, because I think Fight is strong vs. Ground?
