The City and Its People
Forum-Index → Roleplay → The City and Its PeopleXuanji booted up the drone system on her second monitor, got the control panel up that was connected with her wire controllers. The four drones she launched all had smoke bombs attached and ready to fire. She sent two over the area the Mafia would attack, one next to where Ldeya would shoot from to warn her of any dangers and one last drone outside the ESA base.
Unplugging a few more USB drives and resetting the passwords of the ESA system, Xuanji also cleared the history and wiped all the data as informed to.
“Drones stations at Tower, Fifth and Sixth Avenues and ESA agency building.”
He stuck a USB into the computer, downloading every last file.
He sighed.
What a headache.
He glanced down at his cameras.
To the bossman: She’s here.
THe last place.
Ophelia rocked back and forth on her feet, eyeing the metal door.
Should she? I mean, this was her job, but it was so tiring. She wanted to go and take a nap.
Oh well.
she placed a hand on the door, and it crumpled inwards, turning into a little, incredibly dense ball of metal.

Shieta had on hand on her phone rapidly typing away as more and more notifications from various departments of the Mafia sending her news of the front line situation. Shieta gritted her back molar and requested for backup to the frontlines.
Putting the phone against her shoulder, Shieta listened in on the call. If her calculations were correct, she should still be in the car, soon to arrive at the destination. Shieta needs to know the general estimate of how many casualties this battle may have.
Especially since the ESA's nuclear weapon was joining them as well.
"Hey Huixin, any ideas how many casualties this may cost us? I need to know in order to prepare to understand whether or not I should be at the front lines with you or not. Especially since She is joining this battle at full capacity as well."
Messages swarmed in from all departments, and she sighed
To Aleks:
“Yeah….i know. Do whatever you can to stay safe and attack.”
To Xuanji:
“Thanks…………stay safe. You and Poe. Abandon the drones if I tell you, and run.”
To Shieta:
“You and Saeng-i shouldn’t be fighting. I need my medics in tip-top shape in case of any casualties.”
Huixin used the intercoms once more as Ophelia entered
“I paid a lot for that door, you know? It’d be nice if you didn’t just crumple it up”
Ophelia stated simply, gaze on the dozens of mafia members pointing rifles at her.
“…My only order was to bring you and our top-level operatives back alive.”
She snapped.
The triggers on the rifles were pressed.
The first person’s rifle blew up, as the barrels of each and every gun were bent all the way back, so they were pointing at the user.
Ophelia stayed rooted in her place, watch as the rifles blew up.
The few people who didn’t shoot were met with a highly dense ball of metal slamming into their chest.
Ophelia looked up at the camera, expressionless.
“Sorry. I’m just doing my job.”

“No need for formalities, Miss Ophelia.”
“…My only order was to bring you and our top-level operatives back alive.”
Huixin barely flinched as her men dropped to the ground. Pawns were always sacrificed first in chess, after all. And those she cared about….? They should be safe.
“Come find me then. I’ll be waiting”
When he was done wiping the servers, he plucked the usb out of his computer, then smashed his computer.
He picked up a rifle, slotting a magazine into the gun.
They weren’t ability nullifying, but they should do.
Ophelia walked through the halls expressionlessly. In the end, it was just as she thought.
No normal member of the mafia could really do much to her.
She sighed, as incredibly dense, baseball-sized balls of steel circling her lazily.
She glanced up at the cameras lining the halls.
“Liang Hui Xin.”
She said, slowly, as if checking to see how the words felt on her tongue.
She stared up at the camera closest to her.
“will you really sit back and do nothing?”

Huixin chuckles dryly, as she observes the ESA leader through the cameras.
“It’s like chess, is this not? You have to sacrifice some pieces to win. And the pawns are always first to die”
“You and I both know I would prepare for your arrival. So why not sit back and relax? You’ll have to come find me to capture me eventually. Might as well make the most of my time being comfortable”
“Come find me, Miss Ophelia. I’d love to chat”
“Hey Boss, you realise I’ve been with the Mafia for five years right, I wouldn’t be so foolish to be caught.”
She was sitting on top of a random building’s rooftop, with her laptop, headset, raccoon and some gadgets for her safety. Xuanji was still monitoring all the movement of the city currently.
She was well aware of the destruction going on in the city. Therefore she launched off two more drones that were attack based from the drone camp she had set up a few years back. The drones were on standby only, in case anything happened.
“Tell me if you need anything Boss. I’ve got the equipment chips if you want me to blow up anything, or if you want me to self destruct our guns.”
A separate tab on her laptop displayed the massacre in the hall.
Ophelia said, simply, continuing her rather leisurely walk.
Every time someone tried to shoot her, the barrels of the rifles bent backwards, the gun exploding in their hands.
She was fairly confident no one had died yet.
After about 5 minutes, she stopped.
She pushed the door open, not breaking it down this time, stepping into Hui Xin’s office.
“…Hello.”

“Loud and clear boss,” Ostium said into his pager before turning to address his compatriots, “Well you heard the paycheck machine! We have a community center to occupy!”
With that, Ostium created a new portal to the square and all three bringers of death and chaos jumped through to find themselves in a miniature warzone. ESA transports were whizzing about and personnel were flooding the area. The three quickly took cover in an alley before contacting Ldeya.
“Ms Ldeya, we are in the square near your position” Cassius spoke through his comm, “Please provide covering fire as we disrupt the government supply line.”
“Alright gang,” Ostium said, clapping his hands together, “Make as many of those transports go kerplewey as possible. No targeting civilians this time, unless they have money!”
With that the three harbingers of mayhem emerged from the alley with an unending excitement and bloodlust.
She types back quickly, before crushing said phone under her foot and tossing it out in the window. No way in hell was she endangering the kids. She’d rather die than ask the young hacker for help and risk losing someone she cared about.
“Opal. A pleasant surprise. I would say unpleasant, but we both know I’d be lying. Somewhat.”
The nickname rolls out almost lazily, Huixin’s eyes sharp yet somehow also….soft? as she looked at Ophelia.
Poor thing looked exhausted, and in need of a good hug. She shook that thought aside as soon as it came into her mind.
Standing up, she invited the latter to sit, hand tightly clutching the hilt of the opal-engraved sword, the light that shined on it reflecting a cursive “O.S”
“Time flies when you’re having fun messing with the government”
Huixin frowns at the next statement, a quieter “I held a grudge against you the moment you left me and chose….them instead”
Her voice was no more than a whisper, before she shook her head, the trace of hurt disappearing from her gaze, replaced by a steely glare.
“You’ve always been horrifyingly good at following orders. Enjoying the restrictive, oppressive government?”
Her expression didn’t shift in the slightest.
“I was scared. I was tired. I was young. I wasn’t thinking straight. When i picked this life.”
She said, tiredly. She was exhausted.
“But I am a law abiding citizen.”
She paused.
“Hui Xin, this doesn’t have to end with your death.”

“Too law abiding for my liking, Opal”
“Does it not? I don’t need to die for this to be over. That I doubt. The Elite Security Department wants me dead. Still, I rather you be the one to do it. I don’t want to do this….but I’m not going down without a fight.”
Huixin scoffed “To think I’d be brainwashed into submission, muzzled and restricted like some dog for the government. No thank you.”
Huixin agrees
“But I’m not going to accept being some toy of the government. I don’t want to fight….but I will if I have to.”
She pauses
“Are you really going to kill me, Opal? Because I’d be happier if you do it. All my affairs are in order, my family will function just fine without me. I’m ready to die”
And no, I’m sorry, Ophelia. But it’s either I die or…well, there really is only option.
But it’s okay. If you can’t kill me then…well I can’t escape. There’s no point. So I might as well just…
Huixin’s hand reached out for the blade, tracing a finger over it almost dreamily
