was making a commission chibi for my sister so she could bring it to comic-con as those free gift things. Got partway through the lineart after working on it with a headache, three lessons a day during summer holidays, homework, it being my birthday and also other commissions. I took hers with priority because she’s my sister, and she is paying me, while also having asked for it first. She told me to do whatever I could as long as it looked good. Okay, so I then started drawing, showed her the sketch, she was happy. Did the lineart, showed her, and she decided that no, she didn’t like it, she wanted a whole different style I no longer draw in as I only tried the style for one chibi and didn’t like it, and I have told her this before. I offered to fix it if she wanted, she said nah, I’ll just bring your other art to comic con.

So I basically wasted time I could have spent relaxing or drawing other commissions for nothing but screw me I guess.

I just don’t get why people refuse to commission and would rather use AI to make art. Art isnt limited to people who can draw, anyone can draw, just get a piece of paper and pencil/pen, or use a digital device, it’s really not that hard. Three year old children can draw with a crayon and a wall, so why can’t adults? This concept of people only being able to draw if they have the time is absurd , you can doodle within seconds and it’s not hard, you can learn by drawing something small everyday and improve.

Using AI isnt making like taking credit for work you didn’t do. A company project that you did fully by yourself and someone takes it and then lie, says that they made it themself? It’s the same concept. Being a commissioned artist is a job for some people that they rely on to earn money, but people are more willing to use an ai and replace this whole job title for a few prompts into a machine thats free.

if you really can’t commission someone, draw it yourself.
