Forum-Index → Roleplay → Dragon Academy RP"I can fly. It is just that it takes ludicrous amounts of energy... my plant matter and my electric capacity need to be both in sync but also balance each other out. The moss weighs half of my body down, while the electricity creates updraft. And the moss acts as an insulator, so I can't do an updraft on the heavy side. What I did to get up here in the first place though is... hmm, let me try showing it.
Tesona stands up again, now with a pouty expression, scratching her feet on the ground and taking laboured breaths, closing her eyes and starting to run in a circle around the ice dragon, picking up phenomenal speed yet again before spreading both wings and taking "flight". Accurately describe, Tesona's flying was "the wobbliest gliding" and one could even question the laws of physics... with her being very unstable and soon at the apex, forced to glide downwards in as big of a circle as she could.

"Ooooooh," Frost said with realization. She definitely left out those two factors. She noted to write them down in her notebook later. "Well, doesn't hurt to go higher," she said as she stood and flew directly under Tesona, pushing her upwards until they were high enough to directly see the clouds. For a small dragon, Frost could be considered strong lifting someone almost twice her weight without falling in midair. She let out a giggle. "I hope you're not afraid of heights," she said as she stared at the scene before them.
"Think you can see your home from here?" she asked. She pointed her claw towards her mountains. "That's mine. Those clouds look worrying though," she said with a shiver, the lightning was clear even from the distance.

Not paying close attention, one of the flames on Estelle's candles made contact with the explosive solution, sending a spray of burning liquid and glass towards the duo. Shocked, she quickly wove her threads from smoke and covered her and Lifei, resulting in the shards bouncing back and hitting the walls. Thankfully the liquid didn't cause a huge explosion. While they could survive, they wouldn't leave unscathed, not to mention the hundreds of lives in the school.
"Ahhh, that was careless of me. I'm so sorry," she apologized as the threads dissipated in the air. The explosion was pretty, though. The burning liquid gave some kind of neon color.
Lifei is a little dazed, but above all, amazed. “That’s so cool! We should do it again…or not.” Lifei practically squeals, ignoring the fact that the two nearly destroyed the lab. Small ice sculptures form, manipulated by Lifei as she makes them sweep up the glass, before disposing of it it in the proper bin. She takes out a small journal, blackened at the edges and falling apart, writing something down in minuscule handwriting. The journal was filled with crazed scrawls, both neat and messy, some beyond the point of legibility. There were a few strange symbols, but the whole effect gave off a deranged-serial-killer vibe to someone who didn’t share her burning passion for science. She reached into one of her reversible scales, bringing out a cloudy sample in a test tube. “This is arsenic. I found a small pool of it while on my travels. With all these in the lab, I’m sure we can do something with it— Oooh wait is that liquid nitrogen? Cool!” She rattles off, once again holding the test tube in one hand while pointing at said liquid nitrogen sitting oh so innocently on the table, waiting to be used. Whoever left the science lab open for Lifei and Estelle most likely didn’t know what they were doing. Surely the lab would end in shambles. “Or we could use our powers, what do you think? Mine are ice and lightning, surely we can have some fun with this!”
The black dragon had caught her on the way out of her dorm. He wore a pouch around his neck, supposedly containing a pocket dimension inside. Itsu had rolled her eyes. Did she have a school magician on her paws? He had told her his name was Illusionist, and had a 'special kind of magic' with a huge grin. Itsu, being socially awkward, wasn't sure how she felt about all this talking and insisting to walk with her. When she asked about breakfast, he said he lived on a diet of bugs and barely needed to eat much. Great. She couldn't relate to anything he was saying. Card tricks? Levitation? She had never heard of such things...not existing without powers. She had always thought Magicians just were really creative with their powers, not mind tricks...what?
Illusionist could tell the fox dragon did not copy anything he was saying. The way she stared blankly at him. Licking her lips and glancing at her foxes occasionally. While some dragons may be annoyed, Illusionist didn't blame her. In fact, he was intrigued. Perhaps a potential audience? He could use some friends here. So far he had Halu, but he was most likely attempting to eat, and Illusionist had no interest in the cafeteria at the moment. As much as he was a social dragon, the noise of the cafeteria did not seem appealing when offered the silence of the hallway, and he wasn't particularly hungry, anyway.
"So, you have some fox pets, eh? I like animals too. Particularly rats. Rats are cool. They probably wouldn't get along with your foxes, though. Oh! You said you were a kitsune dragon! Can you tame kitsune too? What do you mean you don't know if they're real?! They totally are! My mother saw one once, you know..." He realized he was rambling on, bombarding her with questions, but he wanted to relate to this dragon, too, do more than just confuse her with magic terms. Besides, she appeared to be the only dragon wandering the halls right now...
Finally stepping outside, she breathed in the smell of the sun, the wind, and the plant life all around. Stepping out onto the grass felt so good it sent a ripple of delight through her feathers. She spotted Frost and Tesona flying in the air, and she smiled to herself. She found a spot bathed in sunlight and settled down on it, closing her eyes and feeling the warmth of the sun seep into her, chasing away her fear and empowering her wings with newfound energy. The grass underneath her almost seemed to cry out for her to use this energy, to fly, to soar through the sky and into the clouds. What better way to feel the sun's warmth than to go up into the sky itself?
So, standing back up and stretching in her warm little patch of sun, she spread her beautiful green wings which sparkled in the morning light. The sun had risen enough so its warmth could be felt across the entire school, and she held her breath in anticipation. With one strong flap, she had risen into the air, quickly gaining altitude and breaking the clouds in moments. She twirled in the sky, almost dancing in the air, doing loops and gliding and climbing and diving. She had forgotten what it felt like to fly like this, to feel so free... the last time she had flown so gracefully was with- Solstice snapped her head up, jerking to a halt in midair, their wings struggling to steady them as they pushed the thought away. No. Thinking about that will only bring you down, she scolded herself. Still, the thoughts kept flooding back, and it was everything she could do to keep the aching pain that tugged at her heart at bay. Sighing, she glided back down to the earth, setting down heavily on the ground, her eyes, instead of glistening in the sun, seemed almost broken in the shade. She decided to make her way to the library and distract themself with a book. Hopefully it would work this time.
Halu finally couldn't take it anymore. He left his half-eaten plate of fish at his lonely table and nearly stormed (no pun intended) out of the cafeteria, bumping into many the dragon on his way out. His mood had only worsened by the minute, and after being reminded of the catastrophe that was last night and the fact that his classes were today, he was not looking forward to spending another second around any dragons. He figured he should go back to his dorm to get ready for the day, severely hoping that there would be nobody there. Unfortunately, the crowds had begun shifting from the cafeteria into the halls as dragons drifted around to also prepare for their classes. This only made Halu more distressed, of course, and his eyes took on an almost stormy look to them, challenging anyone who gave him a weird glance with a glare. Finally, after pushing through the flow of students and snapping at more than one, he made it to his dorm, where he pushed open the door and saw multiple dragons there, chatting and joking and getting ready. He hissed under his breath and slammed the door shut again, whipping around in a huff. He heard complaints and shouts of protest from inside the room, but he was too upset to care at this point. He didn't know where to go to find peace and quiet. There were obviously going to be dragons in the library, studying, he didn't know any of the teachers and he couldn't go to the classrooms, his dorm was out of the question, and since breakfast was coming to an end the halls were filling once more.
The final straw was when Halu bumped into one particular dragon, they scolded him, and he snapped back. This time, however, they continued to argue. Halu hissed at them to move, and they refused, insisting he should apologize. They went back and forth, getting more and more heated, the dragon insisting over and over, and Halu getting more and more upset. Finally, he snapped. He was done. He was tired, he was sick of all the other dragons, and he had no place he could go to calm down. He shouted at them, raising his voice for the first time in a long, long time. His eyes seemed to flash with lightning and held the intensity of a storm cloud. And as they did so, a small rumble of thunder could be heard overhead. Of course, this only worsened the situation, and the two kept fighting, attracting a small crowd, until a teacher finally had to come break them up. Before the teacher could say anything, though, Halu cast a glare filled with unmasked hatred at the dragon he was fighting with and stormed off, seething with unfiltered rage. His distress had nowhere to go, his anger had no outlet, and his mind was racing despite being so mentally exhausted. It was finally all too much. He was sick of it. He weaved through groups of dragons dotting the halls, with no real destination, trying to calm himself down. He was so busy fuming he didn't even notice when the sound of heavy rain sounded along the rooftops. For the second day in a row, he had caused it to rain, and this time he had nowhere to turn to make it stop.

Frost had a mix of emotions when Tesona said that. Her face showed a sign of longing before it took a shift towards a solemn look. Sure, that was where Frost was born and raised, it was where she called home, but...
"Nah, they'll be fine," she said with a nervous chuckle. "Besides, my clan would probably kill me if I went all that way to see if they're okay. My parents would probably rant at me'" she laughed. "I know Lyn's flock there probably have it under control. It's been like that for years now," she added.
There's a possibility the shadows in her mind whisper, which she mentally hissed at.
She saw a glimpse of green sparkling wings approaching and smiled. She descended from the sky with Tesona on her back before catching up with the dragon. "Hey, Solstice, we're done flying. Mind if we follow you?" she called out as she diverted her attention away from home. That's enough of being home-sick for today.

"Hmm... I wonder if our power combination could create fireworks," she thought. She imagined containing Lifei's electricity in a ball of her thread, along with frost, that she could throw and open up to create lightning dnacing in the air along with raining snow. Oohhhh she loved that idea.
"Let's tryyyy," she said eagerly, creating ball with a hollow center with her thread before bringing it close enough to Lifei for the lighting to jump into it and the white flakes to accumulate. After it was enough, she wove the opening shut before smiling with her brand new creation.
Testing to see if it worked, she threw the ball into the ceiling, letting her candles reabsorb the smoke. The two were suddenly showered with snowflakes and a dazzling show of dancing lightning bolts decorated the air.
"Oh it worked! Isn't that pretty Lifei," she beamed at the illuminated ceiling. At least they can cut the budget for fireworks during celebration. She also glanced in amazement at her tattered book, curious about whatever Lifei wrote in it.

Frost shrugged. "I'm sure it was sunny just seconds ago," she answered worriedly as the rain drops touched her scales. They froze quickly so Frost hurriedly got under the shade to prevent from getting covered in ice. She wasn't fond of the rain either, since they remind her of the storms back at home. She turned her attention back to Tesona.
Frost shook her head. "No, it's fine. The Stormwatcher flock probably has everything under control," she muttered, a hint of sourness and a slight hiss in her voice was enough to tell Tesona that she was sure she didn't want to go back. As unforgiving and merciless the storms are, the dragons are all the same. If a foreigner were to enter the area with her, other than the flock or those with high authorities of course, it won't be long before...
She shook her head again as she entered the library, returning the battered red book she 'borrowed' to its shelf. Sadly, even after a night of searching for clues, she didn't get much information about what she wanted to find. She decided to read books on other topics. A blue book caught her eye, the edge of the paper shone like gold. She took it and settled into one of the rocks that acted like chairs, which she found very uncomfortable compared to her soft couches at home.
Not again, Frost she scolded herself as she opened the book. The word on the first page made her eyes widen.
Algor: The frigid mountains
She skimmed the pages to get a taste of the content. It was mostly about the communities and the well-being of the clan. It was weird that this book wasn't in her clan libraries. And she could tell why.
It was full of lies.
Whoever wrote this book was sugar-coating the facts of how her clan functions. "A community that helped and respected one another"? That was one of the worse. There was no way Algor was close to that sentence. Who in the right mind would call a clan that was full of war and chaos against one another, a clan who wouldn't feel a tinge of grief or shame taking another's life for no apparent reason, a clan who'd step on the weak instead of helping them up, or a clan that shows no warmth and kindness to travelers helpful and respectful? And Frost hadn't even listed everything bad about it yet.
She wondered if this book was written long ago, which she couldn't deduce since surprisingly there were no dates of when it was published or written or it probably had faded. She doubted it, though, because, from her parent's stories, the clan in the past was worse than how it is in the present.
"This book needs a rewrite," she mumbled out loud, anger laced in her words.

Estelle let a little laugh at the direction this was going. How in the world did they go from trying to blow up the entire school to having a snowball fight in the lab? The sculpture was beautiful though, and she wished she could take a picture of it, to keep it in her memories forever. This was a rare occasion to the dragon who'd almost never grown fond of anybody. The thought of that made her smile.
Without a word, she wove a huge bag with her smoke and scooped up snowballs that were enough to make a hill. She threw them towards Lifei with the brightest laugh, her candles flaring warmly than ever before. She watched as the dragon was hidden under the pile of snow.
For once, Estelle felt very happy to have a friend.

Ingloe didn’t even seem fazed by the news. While every other dragon he’s crossed paths with was whispering worrying possibilities, Ingloe just walked through the halls with a smile on his face. Seeing that most of the dragons had gone to the library, he followed the flow. Classes were starting soon anyway, so he figured that he could do some reading beforehand, maybe one day he could join the two dragons that looked like they were having a blast in the lab.
He entered the library, surprisingly bustling with dragons. He could sense their powerful abilities in the air. Envy started bubbling up in him, he wouldn’t even imagine he’d make it to the most prestigious dragon academy in the land, but here he was. He took a glance at his surroundings, his slithering shadow snake, moving throughout the library, hidden by the shadows of the bookshelves that align the walls, mapped out the entire library for him, including the arrangements of the dragons around him. His ears perked up at a certain description.
Well, of course, one of them would be here. It would be silly of him to think that a dragon from the most well-known, powerful flock would be here. The dragon’s description perfectly matches everything. Crackling blue lightning and pitch-black scales, with immense power surging through their body, Ingloe almost hissed at the thought.
He discarded his envious thoughts and walked the other way, making a full round in the library before emerging out of the grand wooden doors. He roamed the hallways more until he was out of sight before creating another serpent with his shadows.
“Now, I wonder where the teachers are,” he murmured with a sneer as the shadow figure disappeared into the dark, out of sight.

Alpine flies bake to her dorm, also realising that class is soon. She nuzzled Flamesurfer gently, and asked: “Hey, I need to go back to my dorm for my class materials, so… this is a goodbye?”
“I guess so. See y’a soon!”
Flamesurfer and Alpine parted ways.
