( I will be copying and pasting [ With additions to explain a bit more in detail ] my post to here, as I genuinely need an answer. I was told to try the help / complaint thread. I am kinda hoping for answers from multiple mods. Heck, even hoping to get an insight from the admin. Just want something that is firm and clear )

Ok, so I need an answer because apparently I am seeing two different views from moderators about this.
Is having a warning / banned list ( Without a reason added ) IS or ISN'T against the rules?

Because my list was considered "naming and shaming", all the while a mod chose to remove my entire lists ( Note that, at the time of the report, I didn't have reasons added to the warning / ban. Those were removed by me [ Thanks to a friend giving me insight and rethink the decision. Edit to add: Had my reasons in the list since 2019. Had no one told me otherwise until a friend informed me, 2021. I removed the reasons myself. No mod removed it. 11-12 days since the reasons has been removed. Only the names remained. Soon after Mod A and Mod B had informed me that my list is "naming and shaming" ] far before a mod had contacted me. Meaning that I was warned during the time where there was no reasons visible into my warning / banned list ).
And yet, I see a thread where a different mod answered a user's question where they've stated that yes, having a warning / banned list is allowed ( Again, without reasons added ).

So answer me this: Is warning / banned lists considered "naming and shaming" or no, they are breaking no rules and are allowed?

And yes, I am a little peeved about this. It truly shows two different views, from two different moderators. Which feels like this hasn't been discussed much, as clearly seeing two opposite answers.

I was gonna accept the warning with some form of diginity and would of drop it.
But after knowing about there being two different answers about the matter, I now feel peeved and unjust. I just want a firm answer.

- This thread states that yes, warning / banned lists are allowed ( As long as reasons aren't showed )

- Quoting what I was told, which shows that warning / banned lists aren't allowed ( I will not state as to who told me this. I am simply quoting ):
"I would like to inform you that we will remove your Warning/Ban List from that thread due to breaking the naming and shaming rule"
"Hello! This is an unofficial warning letting you know that breaking the rules here is not tolerated, and you have been reported to have broken rule 1.1.1 "Avoid naming and shaming. If a user misbehaves, do not post public feeds or do anything else that attracts unnecessary attention." You broke this rule by having a public warn and ban list on a forum thread of yours, here."

Hmm. Thats an excellent question. I would have answered that a list of that sort is definitely against the rules, but you mentioning that there are differing opinions even among the moderators has me unsure.

Since there appears to be no official consensus on this, I would opt to contact the user privately letting them know that you've banned them from your thread and giving your reasons for doing so. I can see how having a list of banned users up for everyone else to see could be considered naming and shaming, as it's essentially telling the public "Hey, user XYZ did something bad enough to get banned from here."

So, for my final answer, I'd advise against it in favor of handling things privately. It'll keep you safe until there's feedback from the staff. ^v^

If seen deeply through the way of rules, the list with names is naming and shaming. The rules say you can't name and shame users for what they have done. If there's someone's name in the list, it shows in public that they have did something wrong which turns it to be shaming. Better for us is to directly contact the user that they have been banned/warned for what they have done as what @Venus stated. And if they have blocked you, just ignore their posts in your threads and report them to moderators, then moderators will remove their spam post (I think so) and they will deal with that person.

I think, you should ask Riako, what's his opinion on this matter, which will be the final one as he is the only one who wrote the Rules.

MEET THE GRAND BANNED USER WHICH CAN STILL EDIT SIGNATURES. HOHOHO LOL

CatLady replied to that other thread you linked. So the staff are already discussing the issue even though we don't see it. We'll just have to wait and see what their final verdict will be.

I would assume it breaks the naming/shaming rule because that's what it's doing, even if not listing the reason. And honestly, there's no point in a public warn/block list. It's really something that should be private to the OP and to whoever else needs it (e.g. multiple owners of a shiny hunting thread), and something that should be dealt with in private in general.

I'm not a moderator of course, but since there hasn't been a response on this for a couple months I wanted to share my thoughts on why it's probably safest for your own sake to avoid making these lists public.
