When the Stars Fell
Forum-Index → Roleplay → When the Stars Fell"Well... hello, there, my name is Venture, but you can call me V if you want," they began, their voice slowly starting quiet and gradually increasing in confidence as they used it more. "I use they/them pronouns, this is my second year here, and..." they paused for a moment, considering what else to say. "And I enjoy art and making friends. I hope we can all get along this year." They finished, offering a warm smile in return for the gazes of others. In all honesty, they hated being the center of attention, and had not minded at all when they simply slipped under the radar of most of the people last year. This year, however, they were determined to at least try making new friends. No matter how hard anyone else would have tried almost a year ago, Venture wouldn't have accepted anyone's offer of trust or friendship. Now, they felt as though it wasn't fair to simply hide in a shell their whole life. So, with a determined glint in their eyes, they finally acknowledged others' and even their own presence, excited for school for once in their life.
Seeing as he was next, Alparos rolled forward slightly and waved. "Greetings, I'm Alparos Papadopulos, but please just call me Al. Feel free to use whatever pronouns for me. I'm another second year and please help yourself to the cookies that are being passed around. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me, especially if you have concerns regarding the dorms. Even if it is just to ask for a snack, please do not hesitate to find me. I hope that everyone can enjoy their year here." He smiled warmly, bowing formally to the gathered students, hands poised delicately on his lap as he lowered himself to them. "Ah, though before I forget, if you would all be so kind as to tell me which dorms you have claimed for yourself. It simply makes housekeeping simpler and rest assured that you will be given your due privacy." He tacked on before retreating again. His face was warm and welcoming though it did challenge anyone staring at him, meek yet confidant.
'I'm Ameka Hana. But please, feel free to call me Meka. Hana works as well, whatever suits you. I am a second year, and here to help you out with whatever bothers you. Please, don't be shy to come ask the second years if you have any questions.'
He nodded once again when was done, feeling relieved to have finished up with his part. There was a lot of social interaction today, but he was determined to go on till everyone was well adjusted to their new life.

Soleil mumbled the new names in her head to avoid forgetting them, she was forgetful and the last thing she wanted to forget were the names of her new friends.
Venture, Alaparos, Meka, Venture, Alaparos, Meka
She looked at the next person. Regan and Lilith were the only ones left before Song and Lyra go. Soleil played with the camera in her lap, a little idea popping up in her head.
And it might be pretty clear what she was planning to do once everyone had their turns.
"I'm Lilith Morgenstern, though my classmates called me "Witchy". First-year, pretty glad to meet all of you and you can always count on my help... if you don't mind execution, that is. Also, Al, you asked something about our dorms right? Mine's the one with the broken lock." She smiled, her head turning red before she turned again, to face them correctly.
"Hi, my name's Regan Rose. My friends call me Rea or Rosie, but if you are going to use one I would prefer you use the former. I'm a second year, and you'll often find me doing art of some kind. Examples would be sketching, painting, occasionally weaving, and buying My Little Pony dolls and the like to...customize." By customize, she meant cutting all the fur off, coating them in a fresh coat of paint, and making them look edgy...okay, edgy might be an understatement. "Uh, I also like plants, provided they aren't spewing pollen in my face 24-7." She racked her brain for anything else she could share. "And...I like computer stuff." Deciding that was enough, she let herself fall back onto the couch. "Nice to meet you guys." I guess. Her brain added almost automatically...habit.
Seeing that it was his turn next, Song BingLiu waved slightly. "Hi, I'm Song BingLiu. Song is fine I think. I'm a first year. You should probably be careful around me." His hands spelled out, shaky and nervous. He wasn't sure how many people in the dorm actually knew how to speak sign and condensed all he wanted to say into a few simple sentences. It wasn't like he wanted to say much else, he was shy with new people and large groups, but everything he wanted to blurt out would be inadequately conveyed by his hands alone. And directly speaking out would only be more trouble than it was worth. He catches the eye of one of the seniors, the blond one in the wheelchair, who gives him an encouraging smile and Song BingLiu gulped, hands moving again despite how awkward the silence was to him. "I also like music? And dance?" Here his fingers fluttered, as if he was searching for a word that he had forgotten before smiling awkwardly. "I hope we get along?"
"You ok there Song?" She asks quietly, not wanting to make things more uncomfortable for him
"you were too correct"
A shiver went down Meka's spine when he heard Song speak. He rubbed his arm and shook his head, standing up straight again to listen to what the junior had to say. He tried to comprehend what his next words were in sign language but, then again, he didn't know any. He turned towards the one who was translating, thanking her internally.
As he looked around the room, he tried to register each name and each new face. Atleast this year, he had to make it so he did not regret anything. A slight vibration from his phone brought him back to attention. He took out his phone, looking at the others as he apologises.
'I'm sorry, I have to take this. I'll be in my room, good evening.'
Turning toward Alaparos, he quickly told him that he would be residing in the room he used last year. He picked up the phone, greeted the caller and brought his luggage inside the room.
"A signing girl who's named "Song"? Heh, the most ironic introduction I've heard... I like you!" She smiled, rolling off the table and standing up, arching her back. "Though are you completely silent or do you have slight capabilities?" Lilith smiled, dusting off her hair a bit and then giving Song a confident smile.
"Yeah, thanks for transl-"He was cut off with a squeak as Lilith yelled at him from the table. His hands were clutched close to his chest when he turned around, eyes wide and bugged out as he stared at Lilith. His jaw worked slightly as he contemplated on how to reply. On one hand, he could speak and show the other girl exactly why he didn't talk, bringing the full irony of his last name upon them, or he could reply with his hands. Of course the safest option would be to sign his reply, but he was feeling a bit vindictive so he smiled and sang.
"I told you to be careful around me, little firecracker. Who knows what may happen to you. A siren song is quite alluring after all." The velveteen purr rang out through the room, turning heads the moment the first syllable was cooed. It was a stark contrast to the nervousness that ran through Song BingLiu before, the confident sway as he leaned over to tap Lilith's nose almost condescendingly. The teasing smile though didn't suggest malice, just mischief. That teasing spark, soon faded away, however and it was quickly replaced by terror. "Wait, sorry sorry. I didn't mean to say that I didn't mean to say anything. You're alright, right? Nothing weird?"
"Be careful. Call if you need anything." He smiled, nodding in recognition. He could vaguely remember which room was Meka's and kept that in mind along with Lilith's. It was simply for house keeping reasons, drafting up a written map of the dorm. It would help everyone knew who's room was who's. That train of thought was quickly cut off though by a pull and his head instinctively snapped over to the boy who had been signing for his introduction. Or at least he assumed it was signing given another girl's spoken translation. His voice instinctively pulled Alparos towards the other but as the words weren't directed to him specifically, it was easier to simply gape and watch the teasing go on.
"You have a pretty sounding voice there Song. I get why you sign, don't need to have people falling for a nice voice." Lyra says with a small smiles. "Sounds wonderful though."
"you were too correct"
'I reached safely, don't worry. Yes, yes I'll send you pictures. We made cookies today, that was nice. Remember Alaparos? Yeah my dorm mate. I helped him out, aren't you proud of your brother?'
Chuckling softly, he laid down on his bed and put the phone on speaker. He responded to every query and every scolding given to him as he played with his hair pins a bit.
'I'll be alright this time. Atleast I'm trying. Oh yeah I've got juniors now, they're all adorable.'

"You're up, Lyra," Soleil called out, glad that she helped out Song with the signing. Again, guilt found it's way into her for not thinking about other people's feelings when she makes decisions. Though, hearing Song speak surprised her yet again and that only amplified her negative feelings.
Lyra would be the last before they can all depart for the day before, hopefully, reuniting when they set out for the dinner.
Sadly, she aborted her plan when Meka left. It was just not the same when there are people missing in the frame. It would feel as if she didn't acknowledge their presence which she hated doing. So she decided to do it on a later date.
"Maybe we should head out to prepare for the dinner after this," she told the others, getting up herself to give her legs, that spent too much time sitting than Soleil liked, a few stretches. She glanced at her watch and was shocked to find that it was already close to 6 evening. She mentally calculated how long she would take to even prepare.
You know the first rule in combat? Shoot them before they shoot you.
"You flatter me." Was the embarrassed reply, ears red and one hand tugging at the neck of his sweater as if meaning to hide behind the knitted fabric. He was about to sign something else when Lilith's giggle and flippant words made his nose scrunch up, pulling back with a grimace. "I see my worries were unfounded. Unlike you, I'm the type to heed warnings so for your own good, I'll be going. And please don't assume things about me." It was almost impressive how much disgust could be conveyed through hands alone as Song BingLiu shot Lilith a dirty look. The least someone could do before slinging around accusations and labels is research them before hand. Just because he had an alter doesn't mean that he was a DID system and even if he had alters, who was to say that it wasn't Song BingLiu who was fronting the entire time? All in all it was just plain rude.
Boldly grabbing Lyra's hand, he led them back to Sliel's side. "Dinner sounds lovely." He signed warmly, doing his best to put the day's weird events out of his head. He would only focus on the good things. Like making new friends and eating delicious cookies.

Soleil sensed the ominous aura between Song and Lilith and noted to try and never put the two in the same room or near each other. Admittedly, Soleil was slightly pissed with Lilith's attitude.
"Then it's settled then," she broke the silence between the two. "We'll start getting ready for the dinner," she added as she snatched another handful of cookies and dragging, yet again, Song and Lyra towards the hall of rooms.
Once they were away from the crowd, Soleil let out a tired sigh she didn't know she was holding. "So, what are you guys planning to wear later?" she asked casually to try to lighten the mood, munching on her short cookie supply. Soleil was thinking what to wear herself. Though she wouldn't mind to just wear pajamas to the party, her father had pretty close ties with some people in the school and the news of her stupidity will, undoubtedly, reach his ears and the next things she wanted was a raging lion.
Having ended the call, he turned toward his luggage and got up to take his shoes off to keep aside. Sighing, he opened one of them to take a look at what was labelled as "formal clothing". He was not sure of what to classify as "formal" but decided that being over dressed was better than under dressed. Last year his mother prepared a suit for him and it was a bit uncomfortable, having her in the dorm just to dress him up as if preparing for Sunday, to say the least.
'Make connections Ameka, you know that's quite important right? Make a good impression.'
Something he didn't particularly shine in admittedly.
'Seems I'm utterly hopeless in picking out clothes hah!'
Giving up in a while, he turned toward the mirror. Carefully, he took out all the accessories on his messed up nest of hair and brushed some of the longer strands back. He took a good look at his exposed forehead before he whipped out his hair brush and started brushing the tangled parts.
A blazer would be nice maybe..
