Instead of listening to the dreadfully boring teacher, she amused herself by speculating the different ways that the clock could be broken. At one point, the thought passed that perhaps having a friend in the class would make it easier, but she shoved the thought down like she always did. No. No friends.
"OKAY OKAY OKAU . so. what we're probably gonna do is just... Wait for P.E. class. It's like... a shared class for all the students...? We can just show up and pretend that we were here all day and totally meant to be there all day," Val explains as he continues trying to find a good hiding spot. It is as if a light bulb shines over his head. "You didn't plan on skipping P.E... either.... right?"
Thea faceplants at her desk. Not another loud, giant man. This can't be happening.
At that moment, the Gods decide to actually like Thea for some reason. The bell rings. A loud, hearty ring. The next class begins.
She looks around. She's completely lost. Oh my God.
Val beams up at Harper. Of course she'd be onboard with it. They're buddies now. Siblings, actually.
...
Wait, is he allowed to call other people his siblings without permission? It's awkward to ask if Harper's okay with being in his found family, but like... hmm. Technically he isn't calling her his sibling out loud, so it's okay, right? Thought-only rule.
He sneaks his way over to a bush, inviting Harper to join him.
"This is a place where you can see like... all the students at school. I used to use it when I was spying for frie- being curious what others were doing!"
He looks off into the distance, slightly embarrassed. He spots from the windows of the school: an unexpecting student walking by! He seems troubled. Oh dear. Is that... Lynn Elseat?!
"Harper, look at that guy in the halls over there!" he points. "He was infamous in the school for months for attempting to declare war against some of the students. Crazy, right?"
He twiddles with his thumbs. It's relaxing to have another friend again. Harper's nice.
Thea notices another student in the hallway. Leaning on the wall... Is this another rebel?! How many of them are there in this school? It isn't the biggest in the world. She then notices he's checking his schedule. Ah. So a nerd.
"Excuse me, can you show me the way to my next class? I have Social Studies in a bit..." she asks him with a polite tone.

Charlie smiled. It wasn't surprising that he preferred English; she figured that any class that allowed him to read was fine by him. Elliot was right, though; even though she was pretty bad at writing papers, she found that the discussions held on the different writers and materials they covered helped her to strike up more interesting conversations with her customers (and resolve any arguments that might break out in the bakery.) "That's true! Communication is super important. Have you ever wanted to write your own book?"
"My grandpa always tells me these grand stories depicting our family as a descendant of some magic guy. I don't have the heart to tell him that magic doesn't exist, but he just... Yeah. It's a lot some times. He says that I'm "the next-in-line in the family and it stresses me out sometimes. Being someone others expect me to be."
Tears flood out of his eyes, and he sobs loudly when he dares open his mouth. "THANK YOU HARPERRRR," he chokes out in between the deafening cries.
(Sorry that I was late to this, I was watching a show obsessively these last few days)
