They were still young, barely in toddlerhood. Coraline was just starting to show more traits of human and Inkling while her younger twin Skyla was human and Octoling. Both far too young to participate in the secret Splatfests their kind held but still looking forward to it anyway as it was one of the few things for them to look forward to. Their mother was a reckoning force when she had her roller and because of that, it made her something of a celebrity.
The two were playing a game that Coraline could no longer remember just in their yard as they splashed in the mud, pretending it was ink. Their mother was just in the house working on their lunch, but she had the window open and would always check in on them every few minutes to ensure they were okay. Then it happened.
The two were playing and splashing when a lone Peacekeeper approached them, the helmet hiding his eyes as they looked between the two sisters. The two had looked up at him and froze as if they had been caught doing something wrong, then they held each other. There was a long moment where he continued to gaze at the twins, then he reached for them. There was a moment where just before his hands reached them Coraline and Skyla could feel the fear between them reverberating as they held each other.
Then suddenly Skyla was swept up in his arms as he hurried away. Then screaming. Coraline's mother did try to pursue them as the neighbors tried to comfort the screaming cyan inkling but Coraline didn't know the words. After a long time Coraline's mother came back without Skyla and held Coraline close to her, tears streaking down her face as she held her only daughter to her.
Suddenly she heard footsteps and panic replaced her anguish. Were they coming to take her away? She wouldn't let that happen. Just as they stopped at her door Coraline drew her splat dualies and faced her assailants with a hostile expression, fangs bared in a snarl of hatred.
It took her several moments to realize it was only Megami and Kayda, when she did the weapons slipped from her hands. The hostile look changed to one of unease, though her eyes showed true brokenness.

Kayda's heart goes out to Coraline. She rather hesitantly moves towards Coraline and holds the girl. Before, this would be strange, but now it seems like second nature. "I'm sorry" she whispers to her.

"That's very understandable Megami" Ceasar replies disappointedly. "Final question, what are you planning on doing after the games?"
When dawn came each tribute was roused by his or her mentor and given part of what they'd be wearing in the arena to change into: Tawny pants, a light green tank top, a sturdy brown belt, soft leather boots with a narrow flexible rubber sole with treads which would be good for running over skin-tight socks. Once dressed, they were sent to a hovercraft, and once seated they had something injected into their arm. Their tracker someone said.
Coraline, however, it was worse. The long needle was enough to remind her of the multiple times she had been tested on, making the inkling frantic in an escape attempt. It two of them to hold her down while the last finally got the tracker in her arm. One of them cursed the cyan inkling, who was rubbing her arm and quietly murmuring in inkling, for being an annoyance.
"Very funny" one remarks as they haul her out of bed. She only has a few minutes to change into the revolting outfit before she is dragged onto the hovercraft. Even though Kayda isn't afraid of needles, the Peacemakers forcefully hold her still when they inject the tracking chip in her. They were obviously anticipating a fight or a possible struggle. They finally let her go after that. She is forced to wait in anticipation, her heart pounding as she waits for the Games to start. She wonders how everyone in her alliance is doing, especially Tenacity. What if they are on opposite ends? She would be prepared, but would rather not, fight her way to him.
Now they just had to wait for the call. The call to be put in the worst few moments of their life.
Akane attempted to eat what she could, despite already having some extra pounds to spare. Coraline kept bouncing her knee as she waited for the call. Finally, a woman's voice stated that it was time for launch.
Coraline stepped into her tube and the glass shut behind her, sealing her from her stylist, who nodded at her as if to encourage her. Then it started to rise, for about fiffteen seconds Coraline was in the dark before she was pushed up and into the arena. She struggled to see for a moment, blinking rapidly, but then she could see.
"Ladies and gentlemen," Claudius Templesmith's voice booms around the tributes through hidden speakers. "Let the MineGames begin!"
60 seconds to get a look at the tributes, standing an equal distance from the golden horn, the Cornucopia, that was filled with supplies that would keep them alive. Stepping a second before the time was up would mean death, as the landmines around the metal plates would go off.
