Bump?


Irin led the way, his feet falling in a steady pace. Upon reaching his door, he stopped, glaring at the building next to it. Stepping inside, he invited Gwen in as well, leaving her to close the door as he trotted over to his father's work bench. "Good, good. It's all here." His hands had been brushing across things, papers, containers, and more than a few strange instruments. He watched as Gwen closed the door, then invited her over to the work bench to peer at his father's works, to some the scribbles of a madman, to others equations that spelled victory.
Ah, so you, O Mysterious and Curious Soul, have come to seek answers in the abyss?

Unsurprisingly, Gwen doesn't recognize the equations as important information. She frowns at the scribbles, trying to make out what they say. She wasn't educated enough to understand. "What do these mean?" She asks harshly out of frustration. "And what do they have to do with Dylan?" She snaps.

Irin rubbed one of his eyes, then spread the papers out a bit. "They're proportions. The oldest one is from fifty years ago, the newest, thirty three." He smiled. "Dylan claimed he knew what my father brought, although he didn't know a thing." Grabbing a paper that looked relatively newer than the others, he held it up to her, pointing to a corner, which held a date. "My father dated every single one of his documents. The equations on them aren't important at the moment, so focus on the dates. Dylan looks to be about thirty, yes?" He looked to Gwen for confirmation.

"He doesn't look thirty, he is thirty!" Gwen snaps, but her harshness is weaker. Her demeanor quickly falling. She wanted to stop time and run away. Return to the earlier fantasy when she thought everything was okay. All her doubts about Dylan were slowly starting to become true, which made her sick to her stomach. How much worse was the truth going to possibly get?

Blossom looked at Gwen, seeing her so disheveled Blossom got up and sat Gwen down before she hurt herself. "Gwen, just sit down before you hurt yourself. We are going to figure this out, but you need to calm down some first. You can't think clearly when you're upset."

Irin set down the document. "He claimed that my father brought exploding fires. And yet, he's three years too young to know what my father did at all. The only people left that know what my father brought are me and Benton, and I only know because I took the time to understand my father's genius. Now, I'll ask this a few times here: Are you sure he's not a traitor?"

"Are you trying to say that he works for Benton?" She asks. She believed Irin, but there was still a small part of her that was desperate to fight the truth. "I-" she sighs. It was useless to fight this. She had suspected this for awhile, now Blossom and Sage suspect this. Everything everyone was telling her was lining up. "I don't want this to be true"

"So you do think he is a traitor?" He set down all the materials and documents, then turned and looked directly at her, his mind willing her to look into his eyes and speak the phrase. His eyes danced across the room, eyeing the door and the light seeping under it, then back to her. He gave a half smile, his body itching to hunt down the inside agent of Benton's.

"I believe with the information I was given, that he is a traitor" her voice comes out hard. Her world may be breaking around her by admitting this, but her tone remains tough, almost uncaring. A mask of her real feelings. "But, I would still like to hear this from him" she stands up and quickly turns to the door so that he cannot see the pained look on her face. "Let's gather the others and form a plan before we blindly try to hunt him down"

"Or." He dropped the word with an unknown force behind it. "We can draw him out instead of hunting him." His eyes traveled to the door again, watching the light underneath it for the shadows of feet. "Find something that will pull him from his hiding. Trap him there, then maybe even use him as bait for Benton." His eyes remained fixed on the bottom of the door, a slightly ominous thing for him to speak yet not look at who he was addressing. "If we can capture them both, we can put on a big show, and tell everybody that 'This is your oh so mighty leader! Captured by a bunch of hidden warriors! How mighty can he be if he was captured by such a simply trick?'" He pushed off of the work bench, then glanced over his father's work once again. "Benton killed my parents, you know. Just the fact that Dylan is working fro him... It's painful." Despite the topic, his voice seemed overly neutral. "I want to strike back at Benton every chance I get." Fixing his eyes on Gwen, he asked, "What has Benton done to you? Can you list everything? Do you know everything that he's done to you?" His voice gained a steely force, his hands shifting the large weapon on his back.

"Benton has been nothing but unkind to me, but he has never been cruel. Not until now" she admits. "He had taken my best friend and destroyed her" she clenches her fists, wanting so badly to get back at Benton for what he had done to Maddy, and she didn't even know the whole story. "If Dylan is really working for him, then he toyed with my feelings and demolished my pride and name. I fear my people won't ever forgive me for my carelessness" she tries to meet his eyes. "I have plenty of reasons to take Benton down. But I'm afraid of the way we'll have to do it. They both made it quite clear that Maddy is their main target. I hate to do this to her, but she'll have to be our bait"

Irin nodded slowly, then asked her, "Does Dylan like any specific monuments? Statues? Buildings? Anything of the sort?" His fingers found the corked glass vial at his waist. "If he does, I have an idea that doesn't involve using our poor councilwoman Maddy." He grabbed the vial and pulled it from his belt. Holding it up, he smiled to himself.

Luke is walking around, trying not to bump into anything. He climbs up a strange ladder and starts hearing voices. He tries walking towards them, trying to find out who they were. He didn’t wanna walk in on Benton or anything. Maybe it was Dylan. He was on their side. Or at least he thought. He didn’t know about the evidence yet. He stands at the door and starts listening, trying to find out who was talking. It sounded a bit like Gwen was in there, but he couldn’t remember the other voice. Not yet.

Irin heard something bump the trapdoor under the workbench. Whirling around, he put the vial back on his belt, then leaned down and pulled aside the rug covering the hidden passageway. Signalling to Gwen to stay quiet, he slowly opened the trapdoor, just a little, then reached his hand in quickly and grabbed whoever was there, pulling them out and throwing the trapdoor open. He held Luke there for a second, blinking, then pulled him the rest of the way out of the trapdoor and let go of his tunic. "What are you doing?"

Gwen simply shrugs. "I'm not quite sure. Up until recently, we both kept to ourselves. But I do know that there is a monument for Francis, he was quite popular to some in the old kingdom. If he really is working for Benton, then something like that could be important to him" she sighs. "I think it's quite a stretch." She suddenly goes quiet, hearing the same thing that Irin has heard. She relaxes when it's Luke

“Ack!” Luke says. He says, “Oh. Just you guys. So, what’re you two doing here? You saying that there’s a traitor in our midst and that someone needs to draw out the traitor?” he says sarcastically. “Also is there any food? I’m hungry. They never fed me when I was caught by Benton with Maddy.”

Star looked at Blossom as she tended to Luke. "Maddy went through hell. I won't say how but I'm sure you can fill in the gaps. Maddy was held against her will while Benton hurt her and keep her isolated. It might not be the best idea to make Maddy bait so soon after all that."

Irin turned to her. "Which is why we aren't. We're going after that statue, destroying it and calling Dylan out. He'll be hanged in front of everybody after he gets his guts spilled." He rested a hand on his father's knife.
