I have adopted about a cumulative
of... maybe 300 or more completely unknown eggs. I have read both
way for this badge - cumulative or consecutive, so I'm currently
attempting to get a consecutive streak of completely unknown eggs.
It doesn't seem like the cumulative method works - as said, the
numbers would indicate that I'm doing something wrong. So, is it
really only working when consecutive, or is it cumulative, and just
a way higher number than I thought?

Did you adopt them under 30 secs?
I think it's consecutive, since I have adopted 200+ unknown eggs accumulatively and I still haven't gotten the badge.

The problem is that I have fully
upgraded the scanner in the lab and therefore get the first bit of
info after ten seconds. And I don't know if that has any direct
impact. I would imagine yes?

No, I'm pretty sure you don't have to
adopt them in a row.
Say, you were about to adopt your 98th egg without knowing anything about it and accidentally happen to click on it just as the type is revealed, thus breaking the streak and you have to start from 0. ...That would be pretty stupid, unreasonable, and downright evil so I find it really hard to believe Riako would do that. :,D
Besides, I tend to snatch completely unknown eggs, but I also find it hard to believe I got a perfect streak of 100 unknowns when I got that badge.

I've come up with a new theory...
since there is a qualifier in the full Badge Text that says
something about 100 unknown eggs. Maybe it means you have to get
the eggs of 100 different Pokémon while they are still completely
unscanned for it to count? I would imagine that could work out as
well.

There is no quantifier in the Badge
Text, though? It just says "so many eggs" It's probably random,
after adopting a certain amount

Huh. :| Then the Wiki Page, I guess,
is slightly wrong, because it specifies 100 Eggs - But in that
case, this clears up a ton of confusion.
