Just want to ask: Are we allowed to use Gen 6/7 as a base Pokemon? Or just only Gen 5 Pokemon or below are allowed to create Event Pokemon?
Don't mind me, just floating around here and there, once in a while :3

I think gen 6/7 have a sprite bigger than 96x96 (as it states in the rules) so I think sprites from gen 5 and below are allowed.

Considering the 96x96 mostly refers to the transparent border around the sprites and all sprites on PH are 96x96, I don't see why Gen 6/7 sprites can't be used :p

Oh ok. I was looking at the sprites and I thought since they were more advanced, they would be oustide the 96x96 border. But now I kinda see why they can still be used

What should the "event description" include? It isn't shown in the example. Or is that just encompassing everything after the names?

It was part of the form the first Spriting Contest, but, as you noticed, there's nothing in the example, because there wasn't anything in the first contest example either.

As such, I have no idea what it's meant for, except it being a category.

Would a starter line trio be counted as 1 entry or 3? I’m wanting to make either megas or new forms, but I don’t want to have too many entries

Anyone can join this contest. All sprites are based on canon pokemon. Begin with one of your choosing (except legendaries) and edit it to make an "Event Pokémon". Feel free to check out other event pokemon to get an idea for what being an "event pokemon" means. I would suggest using a whole evo line instead of parts of an evo line, should you choose pokemon with evolutions.

Do I need to do a mega evolution if the Pokemon already has one (e.g Sharpedo) or can I opt out of that? From what the main post says, all I can gather is that if there is no mega evolution anyway you don’t need to do it.

Technically, a mega-evolution is part of the evolution line, so not having one, would make that line incomplete. There's also the added fact that event-mon based on a mega-evolving line still have the chance of getting the mega bubble, even if that event-mon doesn't have one, which leads to broken images.

Little update - I've only recently managed to put all sprites in the same location to allow for voting. This means that'll take a little longer than I expected for the winners to be decided. I'm sorry for the delay!
