bear.
Kiteruguma may be a combination of 着てる kiteru (wearing), 着ぐるみ
kigurumi (costume), and 熊 kuma (bear).
Origin: Bewear seems to be based off a bear and the red panda. It
also has some similarities to a mascot costume or a stuffed animal.
Its concept may also be based on the bearhug, a professional
wrestling submission, which could also explain its
Fighting-type.

Interview Section!
We had the pleasure of interviewing our creator Riako, one of our spriters

forward to interviewing more people! Enjoy!
Riako
1. Do you think the recent addition of the newbie mentoring
programme is a success? Has it met your expectations?
“Totally! We have around 400 active mentors - and almost 100% of
our newly registered members have an assigned mentor, so the system
seems to be working very well. I think it's very helpful and
important for newbies to know someone on this game right from the
start; someone they can ask for help or advice whenever needed.
Making everyone feel welcome and integrated in this community is
our number one priority.”
2. The recent writer's contest was the first of it's kind in PH.
Will such contests be held again?
“As a passionate writer myself, I can only say: I definitely hope
so!
We've received countless of submissions - so many creative and
inspiring short stories about all characters of Emera Town! I love
these characters, they've grown very dear to me during the last few
years. And it's so interesting to read their background stories
that users made up; users that probably adore Rowan, Leah, the
Daycare Owner, Greg the Gem Collector - and so on - just as much as
I do. So I certainly hope we can have another contest of this kind
again in the future.”
3. Many people feel that they are not good at all in art, even when
they are. They feel out of place with all the good spriters and
artists we have. Any words to them?
“I think drawing or spriting is in some way very similar to coding:
It takes a lot of practise to be good. My first (web) coding
projects started when I was at the age of 13 - and looking back at
them, they were horrible! They were very minimalistic, full of
bugs, and didn't really look pretty. But that didn't stop me from
coding more. Because everytime I started a new project, I learned a
few new tricks and eventually - after years and years of practise -
I was able to create some cool webpages that I was proud to show my
family and friends. So my advice to the people who are not
satisfied with their art yet: Keep going and never give up!”
4. Do you have any plans on bringing back the retro radar?
“Hah, well, I think most our users enjoyed that special event we
had during this year's summer very much - so I'm just gonna say:
It's not impossible that it might come back.”
5. What are some of the older features that you would like to bring
back?
“Three years ago, we had a special Halloween mystery event called
"Darktober" where you had to solve ten riddles in order to unlock a
code word. And everyone who got this code word had the chance to
win one out of three shiny Darkrai. Our players enjoyed that event
very much, and I'm still seeing feeds sometimes saying that they
want this event to come back.
Back then, it was decided not to host such an event anymore,
because sadly many users were cheating and spoiling the code word
to their friends - which really destroyed the fun for many of our
fair playing players. But I'm thinking that maybe we can create a
version of this event where it's impossible to cheat in the future.
But that's a very difficult task.”
6. Any words to our readers?
“Keep being awesome and adopt, hatch and train 'em all!”
Liirah
1. What motivated you to join this site that early on?
“Uh, a mix of curiosity and boredom, mostly? :b I was registered on
a similar Pokémon adoptables website back then already but, to be
honest, it was kinda dying at that point .. So seeing Riako's
Pokémon on another website, making an account on PH honestly was a
no-brainer for me at that time.”
2. Some of my friends have told me that you were a mod before a
spriter. Why did you make this switch?
“True. Becoming a spriter wasn't related to me quitting the mod
job, through. I decided to step back from modding because it simply
ate up too much of my freetime (and sanity, for that matter haha),
amongst other, mostly personal reasons. Me applying for spriter
came later.”
3. In this site, there are a lot of new spriters. Any advise to
them?
“Uh, not really. When you're doing art of any kind, it usually
comes down to passion and motivation - just like with a lot of
things in life. As long as you enjoy doing it, I say go for
it!”
4. Many people feel that they are not good at all in art, even when
they are. They feel out of place with all the good spriters and
artists we have. Any words to them?
“Just do your thing! I absolutely understand that seeing all those
amazing artists around you coughing up art as if it was the easiest
thing in the world can be downright terrifying, but that doesn't
make you less of an artist yourself. Again, if art is your passion,
there's not a single reason to not pursue it! And try not to see
artists you admire as some kind of threat or competition, but try
to learn from them. Study their work; try to learn what and how
they do what you like so much about them/their art; if the artist
does livestreams, try to catch them and watch them work!
Personally, I looove watching other people do art - I learn so much
about art by simply watching other people do it!”
5. Do you have any message to tell the current userbase, like any
advice for them?
“Eh, just don't be a jerk, I guess. One doesn't have to understand
or even like other people and their business, but there's
absolutely no reason to be an ignorant about it and make people
feel bad whatsoever (not just on the internet, but life in
general).”
CatCatCat!(Sharing
giveaway)
1. What inspired you to make this unusual kind of a giveaway?
“Well, I wanted to host another giveaway, but I got an idea, rather
than just handing out 150k to one user whose spread the
hashtag/commented on the post, why not give 150k to a user whose
willing to hand out their pokedollars to others for the slight
chance of winning. I see giveaways all the time, and I don't think
I've seen one which involved users giving each other pokedollars in
order to join.
I hope that perhaps by getting people to gift others pokedollars,
they might give out more pokedollars to others.
That's it I guess? It was just a spur-of-the-moment thing”
2. Any messages to the readers, potential winners of your giveaway,
or those starting a giveaway?
“Try to be kind to people whenever you can, if you see a user
struggling to get pokedollars, or needs help even a lil bit of
money or support can help them a lot!”

Three Mareeps were ready to live on their own. They've decided that
they were much bigger sheep and were able to take care of
themselves. Their parent let them go and said, beware of the fisk.
The sheeps shook it off and left on a lonely trail. The first
sheep, built their home made with flowers. The second sheep built
their home made with leaves. And the third sheep didn't build a
home, they loved the beach. The other two sheep laughed at the
sheep and said, "The Fisk will surely get you." They went on in
their day and in the evening, something seemed fishy....
The Fisk appeared.
"Well, what do we have here." The fisk immediately splashed and
summoned an earthquake and then ate the poor sheep and crumbling
their flower house.
The Fisk then went to the second sheeps house and again said.
"Well, what do we have here." The fisk immediately splashed and
summoned an earthquake destroying the leaf house and ate the second
sheep.
"Oh dear, The Fisk ate the two sheep. He'll surely come for me
next." The Fisk appeared and said, "Well....... What do we have
here?" The Fisk looked at the ground, and said. "Oh my, this is a
fortress!" The Fisk splashed and summoned an earthquake once again,
and this time. Summoned a Tsunami and destroyed the fragile ground.
"Count Sheep, Fisk!" "Count Sheep, please have mercy!" The Fisk
then disappeared through the sand, never to be seen
again.

Hunching my tired back, I walked carefully toward my beautiful
wife, tenderly hugging her from behind. As I leaned in for a kiss,
a soft warmth filled my stomach and a smile found its way to my
lips. As if my hands were blankets, I slowly surrounded her frail
body with my once powerful figure, protecting her from all harms.
She giggled and lifted her head towards mine, lips forward, where
they had met mine. As if I was back in my twenty’s, I eagerly
kissed her, closed my eyes and enjoyed the moment.
« Eww, do you have to do this now? » a sudden high pitch voice
erupted from behind us.
Opening my right eye, I turned my head towards my side, noticing a
young boy no more than 10 years old hiding his face behind his
tight fingers. His messy jet black hair swayed as he moved his
fingers, peeking through the hole he had formed. Grinning, I took
my wife’s hips and brought her closer in a passionate kiss.
Shrieking, the boy hid back beneath his fingers attempting to block
the view. Letting out a loud sucking noise, to make the boy
uncomfortable, I let my spouse go. Thrilled, she walked back behind
the counter, where she sent a kiss with her hand while her face
glowed with happiness.
« Now, what can I do for you? » she rested her hand on the palm of
her hands, watching the restless boy slowly unraveling his fingers.
Realizing we were no longer kissing, his face light up with
delight.
« I would like… » He starts to ask when she cut him off, some of
her glossy silver hair coming across her face that she expertly
putted back into her messy bun.
« Oh, there you are. My husband had something to talk to you about.
» Her eyes shined with glee, enjoying the look of annoyance on the
youngster’s face.
Winking at him, I made a gesture for him to follow me, and head
outside.
« I’m sorry, in my whole carrier here at the Pokemon Daycare
facility, this is the first time this has ever happened. Son… we
lost your ditto. »
I still believe to this day his face to be the most heartbreaking
thing to see. At first, his eyes shot up in incomprehension and
then disbelief that his perfect ditto, that had taken him forever
to find, could be lost. Building up some tears, he kept them at bay
and his lips curled back into his mouth. Finally, after a few
minutes spent crying, acceptance finally found its way to his
heart. Babbling some excuses, he walked away to some other
adventure.
Heading back inside, my heart heavy, I gave a good night kiss to my
wife, and headed straight to bed. However, what happened next would
only be revealed years later. Making sure I was sleeping, my
dearest sneaked out to the roof with only Murkrow’s for company.
Howling to the moon, she transformed back, reveling a Majestic.
Pink. Perfect. Ditto.

1. What motivated you to write this story?
Answer: “ I've been introduce to this site a few months back and
got captivated by the multiple RP's possible to make, and I've been
so happy creating some new characters with other players XD and so,
I was excited for the contest. I choose to make it on the daycare
couple, cause I wanted to make a cute love story with a funny/weird
end lol. Honestly, at the end, I just though it was funny imagining
an old lady howling to the moon like a werewolf lol.”
2. Any words to fellow writers?
Answer: “I read the other stories that got selected in the contest
and their so interesting. I would have loved to read more,
expecially the one about the small Leah :3 Can't wait to see all
the other creative stories people can whip up in different contest
and see how good I fair against them XD”
3. Any message to our readers?
Answer: “I'm actually an reader of the newpaper who've been reading
it when it comes out, cause i like reading about different things
happening in the site. In fact, I love the multiple people that
actually spend the time creating it and the ones who read it,
giving some feeback to improve it. I think the P.H. Times a cool
idea that should be spread around XD”

A violent storm was raging across Emera Beach once more. Giant
waves crashed upon the shore over and over, abandoning shells and
pearls, taking sand and rocks. Today, though, today was different.
Aside from the usual watery treasure, something else was forced
from the deep dwellings of the sea up to the surface and onto the
land. Exhausted from battling the forces of nature, nothing moved
aside from the push-and-pull of the sea, until that also calmed
down as the storm moved further and further away.
After taking the time to catch her breath and get her bearings, the
creature stirred and, what first appeared to be human, turned out
to be a mermaid, blue twitching tail moving in sync with the arms
forcing the human torso up from the sandy ground. Confused, the
mermaid looked around, wiping some long blue hair out of her face,
so it would no longer obstruct the view of the beach. With the
dying of the storm, other creatures emerged, humans and pokémon
alike, curiously but cautiously gaining on the stranded creature,
intrigued by this new appearance.
A sudden screech ripped through the air, forcing eyes closed from
the shock. Paws and hands started moving to cover ears, trying to
block out the piercing sound filling the air. The youngest pokémon
sought refuge with the same of its kind, hoping for some
reprieve.
Wide open panicked eyes tried to take in the new environment, only
recognising the odd end here and there that can be found spread all
around the world. As the panic reached its boiling point, the
mermaid started unleashing the noise, trying and failing to
scramble closer to the sea, before realising that her strength was
sapped completely by the storm. As a last ditch effort, she put up
her arms, trying to protect herself to the best of her
abilities.
As the creatures surrounding the mermaid stopped advancing, the
noise leaving her mouth died down, being replaced by stammering,
hoarse words tumbling over the mermaid’s lips, hoping to be
understood: “P-Please don’t hurt me. I just want to get home.”
Heads were tilted, as if trying to register the meaning of the
uttered sounds, before one of the upright creatures slowly moved
towards the stranded mermaid, holding their posture in such a way
to make sure it was seen as harmless. They crouched as low as
possible beside her, before replying: “Hey, hey. Don’t worry,
you’re safe. You’re fine. We’re not gonna hurt you. Who are you?
What’s your name?”
Giving the crouching creature a fearful look, nothing indicating
any danger caught her attention. The small smile that was thrown
her way also helped ease the tension, but the thought of being away
from her parents, in unknown territory, stopped her from relaxing
in earnest.
“I’m Leah,” she started, softly, “and I really want my parents.”
With one last frightful look back towards the sea, tears pooling,
Leah was at a loss for what do to. “Can you help me?”

When I became a waiter at Los Seashellos, I didn't expect to meet
so many different kinds of people. Besides the residents of Emera
Town, there are tourists and wandering Pokemon trainers from all
over, even from the other side of the world. But the most unusual
one is the mermaid at the beach. I had never seen a mermaid until
Leah showed up. They usually don't live here.
I remember when I first stumbled upon her.
The sun was shining after a terrible storm, and I stood on the Los
Seashellos deck that stretched over the sea. The building was on
rock on the far side of the beach so it had enough stability to be
up against the ocean. Some of my co-workers were cleaning up the
storm debris, but I had a different job. I looked over the edge of
the deck to see a crate of Pink Cold Angel where the waves had
carried it, stuck between the deck pole and some rocks. Someone had
accidently dropped it while bringing in a shipment, and everyone
else who tried to get it failed. At least the waves had calmed.
I laid face down near the edge of the deck, conscious of how my
clothes would be rumpled when the restaurant opened. I put my hands
out towards the crate, but my fingertips only brushed it. I
cautiously moved further over the edge and leaned out to try to
grab the crate.
I was distracted by a gasp, and I looked where the sound came from
under the deck. I saw a woman in a pink top, and she was tangled up
in the seaweed that liked to grow near the rock. She thrashed when
she realized I had seen her.
"Don't worry, miss. I'll help you," I said to calm her. I stood up
on the deck.
My co-workers had noticed. "What's that?"
"Someone got trapped in the seaweed." I thought a moment. "Don't
tell the manager about this." I took a Pokeball out of my shirt
pocket underneath my vest. The manager didn't want us trying to
pick Pokemon fights with our customers so we were not allowed to
bring Pokemon to work. But I kept this one with me all the time,
just in case. I let the Pokemon out, my rainbow Vivillion. "Help
the person who is trapped underneath the deck." My Vivillion
disappeared underneath, and after a few minutes of noisily nibbling
through the exposed seaweed, he returned to me.
The woman came out from underneath the deck, and then something
surprising happened. The woman flipped on her back to look at us
and splashed a large fish tail in the waves while turning. I could
only stare dumbfounded.
"Hi. Hi. Thanks. The storm pushed me underneath there, and I
couldn't get out. I'm hungry so I'm going to try to find food. Some
nice, juicy fish. I'm Leah, by the way," the mermaid said.
I recovered from my surprise. "Happy to have helped you, miss."
She disappeared beneath the waves.
To this day, she still visits me near the deck.

Haunted Garden
“Attention Emera Residents!” the flyer in her hand read as she
stapled it onto the tree off route 53. “Berry master Lorelei needs
your help in creating a magnificent haunted garden for Halloween!
She needs volunteers for the following…” she slammed the last
staple in and headed back into town. She had just finished posting
flyers all around town in hopes to get as many volunteers as
possible. In a few short weeks she had to have the garden ready for
residents to enjoy.
A week later she was shocked to see just how many volunteers showed
up to help! People signed up all sorts of spooky looking and Emera
native pokemon. Lorelei knew this would be the best haunted garden
in the whole region. She began laying out the plan for everyone
involved.
“What is all of this?” Rowan asked a young trainer as he walked by
the garden, now surrounded by a hoard of Trevenant.
“It's a surprise for Lorelei's Halloween celebration sir!” quipped
the boy. It was Halloween Eve and the garden was buzzing with
trainers and pokemon rushing to finish preparations. “I think
tomorrow around 8pm she'll unveil it to everyone!” called the boy
as he hurried back into the garden.
“Ooh I can't wait!” Rowan exclaimed before he completely
disappeared.
It was Halloween night, just after dark, and Lorelei was taking one
last look at all of their hard work. She thought it looked
spectacular! The Trevanent were surrounding the garden perimeter,
giving it a dark, creepy vibe. Berry plants were lining the edges
of the garden, and hiding behind them were Disguised Executors and
Zombeagles, waiting to scare unsuspecting visitors. In the center
of the garden the cauldron, borrowed from Greg, was brewing with a
mystical potion. Which Vulpix encircled the pot while the Magic
Nine tales stood guard just behind them. The Pumples and Gorgiest
were huddled in small groups around the ground, looking like fresh
pumpkins and jock o'lanturns. The Valenfloom floated above the
scene, offering subtle lighting and throwing the garden props’
shadows around. A swarm of bat pokemon swooped through the air,
screeching and diving at people. Noibats hung from Trevanent
branches while Noiverns were posted around the area like gargoyles.
Disguised Eggsecutes lined a walkway, leading people through the
attraction. Sugar shocks were standing by, ready to hand out candy
to the visitors, if they didn't eat it all that is!
“Trainers” Lorelei shouted, “It's time! Please ask your Trevanent
to unblock the entrances.”
As the Trevanent moved aside and people started flooding in, she
could hear the oohs and aahs amongst the jumbled chatter.
“This is wonderful Lorelei!” Rowan exclaimed as he came through the
gate. She was brimming from ear to ear! Looking around she saw
Rowan was right! Everyone seemed so excited and they were enjoying
themselves.
“We may have to make this an annual event! Great job!” Rowan said
as he gave her a hug and walked away to join in on the fun.

A few questions:
Show
hidden content
1. What motivated you to write this story?
Answer: “Honestly, my only motivation was to see if I could write
something with the given restrictions. It is difficult fitting an
entire storyline into 500 words!”
2. Any words to fellow writers?
Answer: “As for fellow writers, my words to you are never stop
writing! Even if it is just writing down your thoughts from day to
day, or pulling a writing topic out of a cup and jot some ideas
down about it. All of it is practice for your brain, and the more
you write and edit, the more your brain has to draw from. Also, in
addition to writing, I would suggest to read constantly. Reading a
variety of writing styles is a great way to enhance your own
writing abilities!”
3. Any message to our readers?
Answer: “ I have a message for the PH staff, I want to say thank
you for showing me that I do still have some talent hidden away! It
has been a long time since I've written anything and the times I've
tried I have hit a huge wall of writers block, so thank you for
showing me that I can still do it! And to the PH community, I would
like to thank everyone who has been kind to me on here! And I would
like to remind everyone to be kind to each other. We are all
different, we are supposed to be different. Do not use someone's
differences against them. This is, for the most part, an amazingly
strong community of pokemon lovers, and we need to continue to
build each other up, not tear each other down. <3”
