I think it doesn't happen only with me but sometimes I want to change my username, sadly an inactive user is already using it. Since the user is inactive it makes me kinda sad, so my suggestion is to make username available if the user already left the game for more than 3 months.

If the username is available an alert like this one will be shown in the top of the userpage.

For male users.

For female users.

EDITED

Quote from QuestionWhat if the player comes back to the game how would they login if there username gets taken? How would it work that the username can still be used to login when someone else has it with there password?

Quote from AnswerThey would get a random username (Like User*Insert Numbers Here*) and an e-mail could be sent about their new username. Using this new random username and their password they could log in and change the username.

Thanks Princess for the Question.

i think it should be implemented if the one user has not been on in a year+ amount of time

Support this idea. And @Princess, they would use their email???

Also, I think that as soon as they log in they have to change username after logging back in when being inactive for a while. But I think the time that this would take for the inactive users thing could possibly be the time between each username change. 122 days

@Glaciarie and @-Tails- 3 months is just a suggestion, the time could be more or less.

I don't support because what if someone wants to get on pokeheroes again after let's say, a year, only to find that they can't log in

If I had an Internet issue and couldn't log in and someone took my username, I would be sad be a use I use this username for many things since I've become used to using it.

This may also bring up some other issues like what if someone took the username of some other user who had lots of pokemon and gave them away, what would be put on the "original trainer" part of the pokemon's info?

I don't support.

I honestly really don't find it fair for those who leave for long periods of time only to come back only to find their username changed. There may be cases where users don't remember the email they used(like me with multiple amount of emails) and so if they leave to certain circumstances they're screwed because they can't get their new username. And it isn't like they can make a new account because multi-accounting.

This just seems like an unnecessary(unfair) punishment for someone who doesn't want to play the game anymore or can't play the game due to circumstances. You don't see this on other sites and for good reason. The username is their username and it isn't right for it be taken from them without their consent.

If someone comes back to the site (unlogged or not) with their username taken and go see their previous profile page, wouldn't they think that someone stole their account while they were inactive? Also, some people change their emails and forget about the old ones, how would they come back if they lose their previous username and email?

To be honest, I don't think it's fair to steal someone's username because they're inactive (and possibly prevent them from coming back to the site) when you can add a character like - and $ on it or just get another one :\

Support - But I have a small suggestion to add onto this suggestion:

If a user decides to leave for whatever reason and is planning on returning, they have the option of having their username to be unable to be taken for X amount of time (which could be chosen by user), so the username taking option is only for users that leave without setting this or have left before this got implemented (if it does)

I think this should be implemented only if the account you are going to "steal" the username has been locked permanently.

No support. Riako said that even though the account is perma banned it doesn't mean that it's gonna stay banned- Sometimes there has been a mistake and the user is unbanned - than what? They lose their username? A lot of users pick their usernames because they are special to them - I know that I'd be upset if something happened to me or to my pc and I wouldn't be able to access PH for few months and than when I'd come back I'd discover that someone "stole"/took my username and I'd have to pick a new one - I wouldn't do that but I'd opt to leave PH for good instead. Why? Because AoTora is my fursona's name. This name is special to me and I wouldn't want to see it stolen.

Don't feel comfortable with this idea either, what if a user has to go to hospital for a longer time? real life can always make lot of things happen, which avoid you to come online. Names are up to your creativity....for me it is first come, first serve...why stealing ideas from others instead of being unique?

You 'll never know if a user comes back after a longer period, its risky to take the names away...

I came back online after inactivity for about one year, got password issues but i came back, so i'am a perfect example here^^

Bump

Okay, yeah, maybe this suggestion is dangerous, but I have an idea.

What if the inactive user got his username taken away and used by other person. The inactive user could be renamed "<Username>1" or something. Then he comes back.

The first time he logs in when his username was taken from him, there will be a warning that he will have to log in with his new username from now on.

Maybe he could take back his username whenever he wanted.

Nah I don't agree with this in the slightest. I've had premium and I've left for over a year to have a break. Imagine how I would feel to log back on and have my account just gone? If my username changed, how would I know what to log in with?

Sorry no Support.

A. It doesn't have to be gendered at all. Why not just. 'This user is inactive. It is avaliable'

B. It's not possible to code. Just like people request to deleted inactive profiles / Permabanned or stuff like this. It would mess up the inner coding of the pokemon by those players and such.
