•Introduction•
Firstly, the idea of a "test over the rules when a person is first registering" was KiraTrikk's idea that she said when we were chatting one time. I am actually going to suggest it though.

So the basic idea is that when a person is first signing up to be a member of the site, they have to take (and pass) a simple test over the rules. This would be similar to an "open book test" where people can look at the rules when they are taking it.

This can help make sure that newer members are aware that there ARE rules that they (and everyone else), need to FOLLOW. Now, this does not guarantee that these people will still not break the rules, it just seems like it would help because then everyone would at least be aware of them and have read them from the start.

This can also insure that people can't say "I didn't know it was against the rules!" as an excuse for breaking them. It even says on the rules page that not knowing the rules is NOT an excuse for breaking them. Yet I see people trying to use "not knowing the rules" as an excuse here and there anyways.

•The test•

As for the actual test, I would think it should be about 10-15 multiple choice questions. Each would only have one right answer.
Somewhat like this:
(Example made by my friend Bettalong. Also "send" should actually say "sent").

So the correct answers for the above displayed example questions would be option #3, for both of them.
Knowing that multiple choice is a little risky because people can just guess is something too. So it might not have to be exactly all multiple choice. Maybe some other types of questions over the rules? Like short answer ones. But for now all I'm thinking of is multiple choice.

Also if a person fails the test, they will be given a "retry" option. But if a person retries the test too many times in a certain amount of time, they will receive a message simillar to "You have taken the test too many times in the last 10 minutes! Please wait another 20 minutes to try again."

Plus, if a person fails the test, the next time they take the test, the questions and answers would be mixed up into a different order. That and there could also be new questions over the rules each retried time.

Well, in my opinion if someone thinks that taking a simple test over the rules is "too hard," it just goes to show that they probably weren't going to follow the rules anyway, and that can also show that they didn't TRULY want to be a member in the first place.

"But Furret! Pokemon is for kids!"

As for this, yes Pokemon IS for kids, yes this IS a kid website. But even kids have to follow the rules when they play on Poke'heroes. So thinking that a test over the rules when people first join is somehow going to make this site "not for kids" is a completely false opinion. (Trust me I've seen people saying this).

Since, I KNOW some people have been mixing this up with COPPA..

This suggestion has NOTHING to do with COPPA! COPPA stands for (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) and it is a law in the United States! So it can not apply to Poke'heroes because this site was not made in the United States.
This is just wanting a small test over the rules for people when they first begin. NOT banning children 13 or younger off the site.
How people have been taking this as COPPA dumb founds me to the greatest extent.

This would also be fine. I like it. Even though I never actually meant "right" as a person signs up. Just somewhere a long the way when they are getting everything set up.

This is someone like what Navuso said, and I do think this would also be fine. As long as there's a test somewhere when they're starting out on PH.

Could we have it so when someone breaks the rules and gets banned for lets say 1 week, when they try to log in once their punishment is over,they could get the questions about the rules!

Would definitely make things a lot more easier to manage and filter out the spam on here.

Before anybody argues "but kids are kids", it still doesn't give you a justifying reason to post pointless posts and thoughtless suggestions (and blatantly ignore the requests of others, I frequently see feeds about users sending messages to rich users begging for money).

My thing is this: If I was greeted with a quiz shoved into my face the moment I joined the site, just to make me aware of the rules, I would never have stayed. I never have liked those kinds of sites and honestly I believe that if a site wants me to be a part of it, it'll let me explore before shoving the rules into my face.


Now, if this were added at the end of the walkthrough or was a feature that was restricted only to unlocking the forums/pms/palpad options, then I'd be more willing to support. After all, at that point it's optional (as are most of the social aspects of the site) but the areas that it most applies to would be unable to be used until this is done.

Support. So many people break the rules and I'm tired of seeing "but I didn't know the rules!!!!" thing going around. This makes it so that they would have to at least read the rules. This would seriously lessen the amount of rule-breaking.

Anyway. As stated, we realize that the site is for kids. However being a kid is no excuse to completely ignore the rules.

Navuso: I was actually about to suggest that ^-^, the idea of allowing the account but locking the social aspects of it(such as the forums, trading, etc). The one problem with that idea is that there are some aspects that aren't social(such as multi-accounting and cheating), that would apply to everyone, not just those that socialize.
Even though there's that little problem, I do still like the idea because it doesn't completely block people from creating an account.

Full support. Multiple choice questions sound good and I think there should be one for each set of rules. Maybe for the intro with prof rowan there would be a button that says "Take the Rules Quiz" and when you cluck it, it would take you to the quiz. I hope this helps:)

The image is just an example, right? Sorry but that part makes me a bit unsure. Also, my way of this idea would be that this would replace the warnings, and three strikes then ban? Or everyone gets this at a certain point of the game such as at a certain game time, I mean this could be what you're talking about but wouldn't have really understood what you're really saying in other words.

On another note: Tenefix should be hired as a mod :P

This is... a purely brilliant idea! <3 Even though I don't like tests (because I'm lazy X3), I approve because, like you said, baka heads won't some on here breaking the rules because they "didn't read the rules". Now, they'll have no excuse. >:3 Plus, maybe it could also prevent bots even more...? Well, it's Allicat approved, which makes it good. X3

@Magical, no it would not be meant to replace warnings. The user Aetherium thought that when a person gets a warning they should also have to take this test, as a reminder. He said this in response to what Tenefix said about making people do it when they came back from being banned. I thought also doing this when a person got a warning was a good idea ^^
And yes, the image is just an example.

As for Tenefix, I don't feel like he needs to continually post the same thing about people posting "spam" posts. He should just report them instead of telling people not to do it, since he as already said this twice.
