The City and Its People
Forum-Index → Roleplay → The City and Its People"Hey boss," Ostium said to Huixin "we blocked up the Square real good, no more ESA jeeps coming through that road anytime soon!"
Asper then opened up a small bag she had been carrying. "We even managed to score some loot!" Inside the bag were the rings that had been cut from the fingers of the ESA agents although they were now clean and polished. Asper didn't like to use her powers this way but she had to admit that enhanced speed is rather useful for chores.
"But about their boss..." Ostium asked Huixin, "We already gutted the task force that was with her, what's stopping us from just going back to the Square with more members and finishing the job?"
“When did you even stock up on those? And I bet you have an ulterior motive huh? Trying to get me to write reports or kidnap me or something?”
Xuanji leaned over and poked the snacks in the cabinet.
“Wow, seems legit.”
Pulling out a pack of gum, Xuanji popped one into her mouth and chewed, blowing out a bubble and then crossing her arms, after throwing the report over to Huixin.
“I told Shieta to help me get them”
Flipping through the report, she frowns.
“Since when did you use the word indubitably? Actually, since when have you used any of these fancy words at all?”
Huixin asks, looking through the concise, almost perfect report. She couldn’t spot any mistakes at all. Which was weird. Because even Ldeya made punctuation mistakes sometimes. There was no way you could write such a perfect report.
“Maybe I have and you just didn’t read, or perhaps I didn’t bother.”
The girl rummaged through the cabinet, picking out snacks, sweets and others, looking at them and either shoving them in her pocket or chucking them over her shoulder.
Huixin never called Xuanji ‘sweetheart’. Not unless she was angry, that is.
The report was perfect. Too perfect for even her standards.
Even Huixin normally made mistakes, and she had scanned through this report three times now, there was none.
And after what happened with the ESA’s leader….Huixin wasn’t exactly in a good mood.
“Pfft- of course not, who do you think I am?”
The lie came out smoothly, Xuanji kept her face straight and emotionless as ever, deception was a good skill to have.
The Boss was angry, agitated and frustrated.
Best to not provoke her any further.
“Doesn’t explain the fancy language though”
Huixin replies calmly, her voice a little icy.
She places the report down with a sigh, but doesn’t question Xuanji on the matter.
“Have you seen Liyue anywhere?”
Huixin quickly changed the topic
"So pretty..."
She smiled as she braided her own hair, passing her hand over it as glowing purple flowers sprang up in the braid.

She wandered seemingly at random, steps light and seeming to almost float above the ground.
Finally, she turned into the meeting room, brushing fingers to the seats curiously.

That was what Jing Yu shall call today from here on, onwards. There has not been a single moment of peace ever since the headquarters 'supposedly' found the mafia'a base. While his immediate boss was having a lovely dance with her ex (lover? Enemy?) before retreating. He was busy handling the lackeys and arresting as much of those evil-doers as possible.
Especially since even after the high of the fight is over, there are still people dying.
Jing Yu teared his gaze away from dying innocent passerbys, hoping the medical team will save them as soon as possible as he redirected his gaze towards the tower.
His eyes narrowed at the retreating back.
Wasn't that one of the executives of the Mafia?
Civilians were just so easy to shoot.
Humming slightly to herself, she didn't exactly blend into the crowd of panicked people with her nonchalant demeanour and casual strides, yet no one was paying enough attention or bold enough to stop her.
Like the eye of the storm, she strolled through the tide of people running around aimlessly.
Afterwards they were sure to tell rumours of a mysterious dark-suited figure walking away casually.

She knew she would probably be the last one on the scene, since she didn’t have her own transportation. Her driving knowledge, just like the rest of her memory, was probably locked somewhere inside her, in the unexplored corners of her mind. Unfortunately, she hadn’t yet committed the time to retake driver’s ed.
Evangeline finally arrived at the chaos, seeing battles and medics all in a craze around her. She knew she was going to have to fight, but wasn’t prepared to slit an actual human’s throat for the first time since training. But instead of the panic she was expecting, a calm washed over her, a performer moving through a well-practiced dance. Her hands slid into her the lavender pockets of her baggy hoodie, fingers lacing around the poison-laced butterfly knife and the gun. As her body became translucent and she slid through a lamp post, Evie took a deep breath and scanned the scene. Most people were engaged in battle already, but it didn't take long to see an odd figure slinking away from the scene. She flowed through panicked bodies in the crowd, knife in one hand and gun in the other, buried deep in her pockets, and slid up to the casually strutting figure. "Hi," She whispered in their ear.

Perhaps today would be interesting after all.
She kept walking as if she hadn't heard, gloved hands in her pockets, still humming a melody too innocent for the situation.
"Why, hello dear."

Jing Yu cursed his luck under his breath, out of all of the executives he has found, it just has to be the most slimy one out of all of them. Ldeya, or also known as Lady Luck was known for her excellent control of probably, but as well as many other sorts of manipulation. Mind tricks wasn't the only card she had up her sleeve.
It was bad for him to fight against her one on one, especially since she relies on the tactic of fighting one of one and luring her opponent away and mysteriously killing them. While she is rarely seen working together with others, he on the other hand is the complete opposite. The more teammates he has on his side, the more potent his ability is.
Jing Yu furrows his brows, he needs to call for backup as soon as he possibly can.
However.. there seems to be another women on the scene.
A fellow comrade.. or perhaps another enemy?
Will luck be on his side?
Huixin asks gently, not wanting to scare the dreamy girl.
Her phone beeps, warning her of the situation at the Square, and she sighs. “Xuanji. Can you send backup drones to Ldeya? There’s a couple pests bothering her, make sure she has backup if she needs it”
Ironic as it was; Huixin didn’t like leaving much up to chance. Even if the chance was absurdly rigged in their favor.
Ldeya turned around slowly, but her hands remained in her pockets, the smirk never leaving her face. Tilting her head, she seemed to observe Jing Yu slowly.
She didn't seem at all surprised at the appearance of the ESA members.
"Mhm."
Liyue nodded, smiling slightly.

The drones were sent and circled above the air just barely visible of Ldeya’s location, marking the ESA members along with her using the satellite which the mafia had
“All set.”
