it’s kinda comforting that there’s a forum for this sort of thing. i like coming here once in a while to read what people have to say. i really hope this forum doesn’t die out again and people continue to post random thoughts or yaps xd

Alright since yapping is welcome let me yap about swimwear real quick
My brother has invited me and my sister to his house tomorrow so it's pool day yeeey and I'd like to recommend anyone who it may interest.. Swimsuits? Not the basic ones (who thought having exposed inner thighs is a good idea ew ew worst experience ever personally) idk if those have a special/different name, but mine looks quite like this one and having the shorts there help SO. MUCH. Both sensorially and with dysphoria. Bringing something to wear on top of it is also super great, I dislike tight clothing so I loove wearing a big shirt on top of it once I'm out of the pool. Going to feeling like a piece of trash in bikinis to feeling cute and comfortable in my swimwear was such a huge improvement to me I can't recommend this thing enough :3

the funniest reaction i've gotten is probably "i’ve known you for a year and i didn't know you like girls? you need to talk about yourself more" 😂😂

The A in LGBTQIA+ means Ally, and anyone who supports LGBTQI+ is an Ally. So technically I’m allowed on here because I support.

Actually, the A is for Asexual. However, allies are more than welcome here as well. :)

My parents don't really care what my orientation is. My mother said that the only people that my sexual orientation is any business of is myself and whatever partner I choose, if any, and that that stands for anyone and everyone. Straight? Your business. Gay? Your business. Bi? Your business. No one else needs to have anything to say about it, just you and your partner.

I don't understand why others get so upset about something that doesn't affect them in the least, but it's always good to know there is support for allowing people to just be the people they are.

@Celebier, generally, it's agreed upon now that A stands for asexual, agender, etc! but there's also nuance with the history here, since A started off meaning ally so that closeted people can safely attend pride celebrations and the like under the guise of allyship! this was back when it was much harder being queer in terms of discrimination, so there was a "secret" way to participate but not be "suspicious!"

whether the A still includes ally now is debatable. but regardless, allies can hang here too, as the main post says "allies will be welcomed here" !! :)

@Dragonstars, that's totally wonderful!! i wish everyone would be as chill as your parents haha! the world would be a better place. but until that happens, more (definitely non-disruptive!) advocating is appreciated. unfortunately, this causes a mini cycle of pushing for acceptance, then queerphobes pushing back because "it's all in their face" and cycle repeats. but maybe one day, it will be better everywhere! small steps at a time !!

Ooh, I didn't know that A actually once stood for Ally. I've always thought that it just meant Ace. That's good information to know. I learned something today. :)

I wish everyone had that attitude, too. I'm very aware that I've had it very good compared to other people. Hopefully one day everyone will understand that love is always a good thing, no matter who it's between. And that it's also perfectly normal to not be interested in it, too. And that if they can't be supportive, then they can at least mind their own business with something that doesn't affect them.

I wish they taught sexual orientation and genders and such in school... it would be more useful than some of the things that do get taught. (Talking about back when I was in school, of course, it's been quite a while since, lol.)I didn't know about asexuality until I was 25, and because all my classmates as teens were always talking about boyfriend this, girlfriend that, who's dating who, and I had no interest in any of it at the time... eventually, I came to the conclusion that perhaps I was just broken somehow. Tried not to let it bother me. But when I finally came across the term (on Facebook, of all places!) and looked into it, I still felt better knowing that I was actually perfectly normal for an Ace. Brought it up with my mom later, and, well, I already mentioned the result. If only everyone could have it that easy... and preferably a lot earlier than me.

The first time I noticed I was Bi, was when I was around 9. My sister brought it up, and I was in love with made up girls. My friend helped me get into it because he's trans, and I listen/watch a lot of things with LGBTQ+ (Owl House YAY)
