Retro Collection: Improvement of Prof Oak Rewards System
Forum-Index → Suggestions → Retro Collection: Improvement of Prof Oak Rewards SystemThe problem is once you already finished this quest five times consecutively, the same reward will still be given should you decide to do it again. Hence, making doing this quest once again not worth it if it is not for the festival points.
Hence, I am suggesting of a way to improve the reward system of Prof. Oak Quest.
Retro Nidorino and Nidorina
In the first version of the main series of pokemon games - which is pokemon red and blue, Prof. Oak will show a nidorino as an example of a pokemon on the player during the introduction.
Hence, nidorino has a special spot in the first pkmn game in which Oak is the professor.
With this, I am suggesting that instead of solely acquiring a guaranteed shiny retro magikarp, PH users would have a chance of getting a guaranteed shiny retro nidorino and shiny retro nidorina (which is nidorino's counterpart).
Chances of Getting One
Chances of getting a shiny retro nidorino/a should be lower as compared to getting a shiny retro magikarp. In here, ai suggest two things on the probability of getting one after beating Oak five times.
One: Constant Chance
Since only nidorino is being displayed in the original pkmn red and blue, then getting a retro nidorina must be lower than getting a retro nidorino. My suggestion is that shiny nidorino is at 10%, while nidorina at 5%.
The chances of getting a nidorino/a should not be very low such as 0.5% or 1%, since beating Oak five times is fairly difficult and it will take at least five weeks just to complete the quest.
Two: Chance Depending on the User's Gender
This one is a bit different. Instead of a constant chance of getting each species no matter what the user, getting which pkmn will be dependent on the user's gender.
What the user's gender is after unlocking the quest for the first time will determine which of the nidorino/a will yield more chance of appearing.
If the user is male, then the chance of getting a nidorino is 10%, while 5% for nidorina.
If thé user is female, the chance for nidorino is 5%, while 10% for nidorina.
If genderless, however, the chance for both nidorino/a may be equal at 7.5%, OR it will be random on which of the above will it follow.
Note
This suggestion also applies to the non-guaranteed shiny retro egg acquired after defeating Oak three times. However in this case, the probability of getting a retro nidorino/a egg is higher.
