Xel looked up when he heard Reyna say 'kid'. Most of the conversation he was looking down at the floor and avoiding eye contact with the older people. No wonder why Mr Westling called this a 'Gentleman's place', this wasn't a place a kid would belong in.

It had been a long, long time since Jessica had seen Madame English without makeup. Her casket, covered in roses, white and red, had been beautifully painted with golden arcs and smelled as if the best perfume in the world. Everyone practically worshiped her portrait and gave so many different flowers, Jessica almost forgot which one was Madame English's favorite.

The funeral played on as a wave coming on to the shore, Jessica's eyes did not water nor did she cry as everyone said their speeches about Madame English. Jessica recorded she was the only one to bring Madame English's favorite flower, a Cornflower. It was the only blue flower in the bunch on the table, and the only that was welting. See, Jessica remembered that Madame English did not enjoy the idea of flowers at her funeral, instead, she wanted portraits of flowers and herself. Jessica kept her gaze at the casket, only to faulter whenever someone placed another flower on the casket.
I may seem like a bunch of useless text, but I LIVE HERE and I don't welcome visitors >:(

"I guess so," Amane said, smiling softly at her. Silence - but a comfortable silence, for once - fell between them for a few minutes as they walked, the boy just taking in the sun and enjoying the company of the girl at his side. After a little while, he abruptly spoke up again. "Ophelia, come with me to the colonies!"

Shawn nodded and grabbed his pen and notepad. " She wants to talk to you, kid." says Shawn as he walks past Xel. He puts his hand on Xel's shoulder and pushes him through the door. " Come get me when your done. I'm gonna get some fresh air." says Shawn as he walks towards the exit of the building.

Ophelia was a bit startled by Amane's sudden invatation, and she hesitated. "Amane..." Sighing, she said carefully, "My grandmother would never allow me to leave. While..well, I've never really made descisons for myself, I couldn't, but I can say that while I would want to go, I can't. My grandmother is the only one I have left. She may want to make descisons for me, and she may not be my most favorite person in the world, she's the only person who would take me in after my parents died. If I anger her, I don't have any other options, no other way to support myself."

Amane raised an eyebrow. "What, you think I'd just drag you along and then dump you off at the shore?" He gave Ophelia's hand a squeeze. "I do actually have a small plan for staying in the colonies. I have a friend - an old teacher of mine - who lives in New York, who's offered to help support me and anyone I bring along. If you attend school, you won't have to worry about room and board, at least at first." Amane smiled. "Trust me, I...I know how hard it is to leave behind the people who took you in, even if they're awful. But that's just it - they're awful! It should have been a given to take you in and care for you, not something they can hold over your head like they're a saint for doing it." He sighed, trying to forget about the people in his life who he'd come to that revelation about. It was crazy to think that so many years later, he'd be saying these things to someone else. Amane turned so that Ophelia and he were face to face. "What do you mean, she's all you've got? You have me now, don't you? I know we just met," he said, shaking his head lightly. He was crazy to think that she'd have gone along with this. "I know. It's ridiculous. But just so you know, I'll support you. Whether you come with me or not. I promise."

Ophelia smiled. "I'd..I'd like that alot." She wasn't sure how she was going to deal with her grandmother's reaction, grief-striken or not, but going to the colonies would be amazing, especially going along with Amane. She was nervous thinking about it, but she still wanted to go. For the first time, she was making a choice of her own. And that choice was to go with Amane. "I do want to go, it's terryfying just to think about, but I would very much want to go to the Colonies with you."

"I- Wh- R- Y-" Amane's brain had broken, a little bit, he thought through a haze. She was agreeing? To go to the colonies with him? That...was not what he had expected. In the slightest. At all. All he could do was stand there, holding Ophelia's hand, with a dumbfounded expression on his face. Despite everything he'd just said and all he'd believed about the girl, he hadn't actually expected her to go along. To want to go along. He'd thought that it would be just as it always had been - another situation where he was eventually left to himself again. Amane's brain was broken a lot.

Ophelia raised an eyebrow. "Are you alright?" She was a bit surprised by his reaction, he seemed truly dumbfounded. Was it really that uncommon that someone would agree to go with him? Ophelia wasn't sure what she should do, it was if someone had broken his brain. Still, the look on his face was rather amusing, and she laughed a little under her breath. "Amane, is something wrong?"

"I- no, actually," Amane said, with a shaky laugh. "It's actually that something's right for once," he finished, blinking a bit to try and reorient his mind. "Sorry- I just- you gave me a bit of a shock there, by actually agreeing to go with me." And then it really hit him. "YOU'RE GOING WITH ME?!" Amane found himself laughing, smiling like he hadn't in years. Forgetting all the rules about social etiquette and what not to do and what was appropriate, he threw himself into a tight hug with Ophelia, because finally, FINALLY, someone didn't hate him or think he was annoying or a waste of space or a toy for people to play with. And she was going to go with him!

Ophelia was once again surprised by Amane, but honestly, she didn't mind. It had been a long time since she had hugged someone. In fact, Ophelia couldn't remember the last time she had. She hugged him back, not really caring if anyone was disaproving. "Well, yes Amane, I don't know why this is much of a surprise but I am going with you." She smiled, seeing how estatic he was. "I'm glad I've made you happy, though."

Beyond overjoyed by the fact that she'd reciprocated, Amane actually giggled, feeling lighter than air. "You have no idea. It's just, I haven't actually done anything with another person in a long time. I'm just so excited. This is going to be such an adventure! You're amazing," he said, not really caring what she thought of all of the nonsense he was currently spewing. Amane was way too happy to be worried about something as trivial as that. "You're amazing, and you're the best, and you're great, and you're amazing- wait, I said that already-" He laughed, trying to calm himself down a little. It's just- he hadn't felt happiness like this in a very long time.

Ophelia smirked. "Thank you for the compliments Amane, but I think you need to calm down. Though I will admit, this is rather exciting for me as well." She paused, smiling and shaking her head. "Though, maybe not as much as it is for you, considering your, er, positive reaction." After a minute, she raised an eyebrow. "So, anything else you want to say about this? You seem rather enthusiastic about all of this." Personally, she was amused by his reaction, but also glad. It was the first postive reaction she'd had in quite a long time.

"I am enthusiastic," he replied, resisting the urge to spin around or maybe go run a marathon to expend the extra energy he suddenly had. His mind kept shouting more suggestions for ridiculous things to do, but once it came up with "kiss Ophelia" the rational part of his brain kicked back into action and told him to maybe not do these things. Instead, with a faint blush now, Amane settled with, "Thank you so much, Ophelia. I mean it. I might have gotten a bit carried away," he reflected, feeling just a shade of embarrassment for the way he'd hugged her out of nowhere.

She smiled. "It's quite alright. You were excited, and overenthusiastic. Those things tend to do odd things to you when you let them. And really, there's nothing to be embaressed about. I honestly found your reaction a bit amusing, but understanable." Normally, things would have been a lot more akward if they were around the adults, but with no one else around, it felt much less confusing. Maybe it would be better in the colonies, where she wouldn't feel as suffocated. She didn't know what it would be like, but hopefully it would be better then here.

Amane smiled, grateful that Ophelia seemed to understand his burst of excitement. "Y-yeah, I definitely got more...um, energetic than normal," he said, relieved that the rational part of his brain had kept him from...expressing his enthusiasm in other ways. More ridiculous ways. "I'm glad that it was entertaining, at least." Amane laughed a bit in spite of himself; he probably had looked pretty silly, but his embarrassment was fading. He was comfortable around Ophelia, and it was clear that she wasn't here to just make fun of him.

She laughed. "Honestly, I like seeing you so happy and open. While I can't say much, people telling me that I'm about as amusing as a rock, you seem so.." she paused. "Oh, how do I say it. Relaxed.
