Ophelia took his arm. "It's more of a controller then overprotective. She doesn't let me out of her sight for fear I'll do something she doesn't want. Honestly, this is the first time in a long while that she's actually let me leave her in a public area, and even then I suppose it's the greif. She loved her daughters, but her only grandaughter who was pushed on her? Not so." She shook her head. "But it's not important. Though I will thank you again, while I'm not particuarlly active, standing there for two hours was not pleasent."

“For the record, I’d never make you stand still for two hours if it were up to me.” Controlling guardians...admittedly, he couldn’t relate. But which was worse? Controlling or...? He felt his free hand subconsciously flit to his left cheek. “At least it’s not raining,” Amane joked, glancing up at the quite pretty blue skies dotted with a few clouds here and there. Compared to the chilly fog in the morning, the weather had become very pleasant, if not still a bit cool. “You’re an only child, then? I can imagine it must be frustrating not to be able to have anyone else to turn to.” Amane gave her a smile, pulling her slightly closer with a short tug. “Of course, now you’ve got me.”

Ophelia allowed herself a slight smile. "Yes, well, that's something." The smile faded and she glanced up at the sky. "It is rather nice today, I'l admit.." After a minute of silence, she said, "So, Amane, what are you doing here? I'm greatful that you're paying your respects to my aunt, and rescuing me from hours of standing next to a tombstone, but as far as I was aware, you planned to go to the colonies."

Amane laughed, turning to face Ophelia. "What, so I was just going to hop on a ship like that and be off? Unfortunately, it's not that easy. First of all, it would be wildly suspicious of me to skip off to the colonies in the middle of such a serious investigation, so I'm stuck here until we figure all of this out, at least." Getting to the colonies might be his dream, but it wasn't going to be as simple as climbing aboard and sailing into the sunset. Not to mention, it would be wise to have a loose plan of what he was going to do once he actually got there. "It also happens to be expensive for a teen to book passage on a ship that is New York-bound. And there's also...well, a few things I need to figure out that I can't leave behind," Amane added, drifting into thought for a moment before tossing his head lightly. Not the time to worry about...that.

Ophelia shrugged. "You have a point. But then again, why would you be? As far as I can tell, you're too short to be able to reach the chandelier, and have no real conncections or grudges against Madame English. My grandmother may have been close to my aunt, and she never mentioned you. If it were to be supcious for you to leave, then they might as well detain evreyone who stepped foot in there. And you did seem rather eager to be off. But you're right, it would be foolish to suddenly leave."

Amane shrugged. "I'm not saying that they really have any reason to hunt me down. But at the same time..." He trailed off, looking for the right words. "It feels wrong not to help figure it out. I mean...whoever she was, she was still an innocent person who might've been murdered. Right there in front of me. Personally, I feel like I ought to do my best to help get to the bottom of everything - it's the least I can do." Returning to a more jovial air, Amane gave Ophelia a nudge. "I suppose I might also be staying in order to see you more, but that's just a theory. What do you think? Could that be a reason for my delay? You seemed a bit critical of my last theory, so I figured I'd ask your opinion on this one before calling it final." He smiled, trying not to laugh, hoping to lighten the mood away from the current situation. After all, it was exhausting being serious and gloomy all of the time.

Ophelia almost sucsessfully hid her smile behind her hand. "Well then, if you're reason for staying is to see me, I can't deny the soundness of that theory. Though it's reasoning baffles me. Why ever would you want to see me?" She was greatful for the change of subject, all of the grim events going on had been rather taxing, like carrying a rock on her shoulders. Ophelia didn't want to think of the murder, or the interrigations, even if it was for a short time.

Amane tapped a finger on his chin, pantomiming deep thought. "We-ell, maybe because it's been a while since I've held a good conversation with someone my age," he began, not bothering to hide his grin now. "Like I said before - I think you're a person worth talking to." This was a much more comfortable subject of conversation; why talk about such dreary things on such a lovely day? It was a waste of sunshine, really. "I wouldn't protest too strongly to the notion that it's also because I think you're quite lovely." Amane gave her a cheeky wink, attitude growing more and more mischievous by the minute. "But an even better question is why ever you would go along with me. Certainly you wouldn't let yourself be dragged along by someone without good reason?"

Ophelia let herself smile, a real smile, though it was hard not to laugh. "You really are a charmer. Well, to answer your question, while I don't do well in social situations, it's mostly lack of practice. Before all of.." she gestured around her with her hand, struggiling to find the right words, "this, I didn't really see many people, besides my grandmother and her friends. So when you came along, I was intrigued. And I'll admit, talking with you is much more enjoyable then with Grandmother's cat."

"Ah yes, shall I add that to my applications for school?" Spreading his arms out as if to frame the words, he continued in a dramatic voice. "Amane Piedmont: better conversationalist than Madame Ophelia's cat." Laughing, he leaned slightly against her as they walked. "They'll admit me on the spot." Shaking his head amusedly, he turned to Ophelia once more. "I think you're doing perfectly fine, if you ask me. For someone who talks to cats," Amane couldn't help but add with a smirk. It wasn't as though he'd had a lot of friends growing up, either, though. Not that he was antisocial, but he found it difficult to let people in. It was much easier with Ophelia, he found, for whatever reason, but he wasn't about to question it.

Ophelia laughed. "In my defense, Grandmother really didn't let me have friends growing up. So, I'm not the best at it." She sighed. "Well, I'm glad that I was able to help improve your applications, though it be from the embaressing fact that there's only one human I can hold a proper conversation with."

Amane gave Ophelia a more genuine smile. "Well, I'm honored that said human is me. And I'm not the best at making friends, either. I guess as far as two lonely, awkward people, we're doing alright," he said, laughing and shaking his head lightly with amusement. Honestly, though, the two of them seemed to click a lot better than most people he'd met, save for maybe one or two. It was really nice, actually, not to worry too much about having a simple conversation.

Feeling much more comfortable then Ophelia had in awhile, she didn't let the smile fade. "I suppose it's easier when you understand the other's akwardness, no?" For the first time, she didn't feel the need to hide her true self, and was enjoying herself.

" I know that. I ask questions for clues to find the person that killed Madame English. Not to get a upfront confession. What kind of idiot gives up immediately?" says Shawn. " Do you atleast know who owns the building? Do you know anyone who rented it before Madame English?" He grabs the book and piece of cloth and puts them away inside his coat.

*Reyna looked down nervously and her breathing became alittle more rushed. Her hand began to shake more noticeably as she brought her cigarette closer to her mouth* Me and Madam English -*Reyna took in some smoke from her cigarette and breathed out* Didn't always agree. We had an argument that night that ended with me saying some things and her kicking me out, saying and I quote "Never come to me ever again". *Reyna took another hit from her cigarette* That night I needed to speak with her and give her a piece of my mind but I couldn't find her. And before I knew it, she was dead.

Shawn wrote down what she had said on a blank part of his notepad and said, " There was no record of you being invited to the party however and according to everyone we talked to, when you arrived you seemed lost. According to what I wrote down here, some said you were "frenzied and lost" or "panicked". And you were looking for Madam English. Could you explain why you were at the party?"

*Reyna could feel her heart start to beat faster as Detective Westling asked for her reason why she was at the party. At this point she was struggling to keep her hand from shaking. She put out her cigarette and began to lie* Like I said, I needed to give her a piece of my mind. When your as powerful in my previous line of work as she was, she can either make or break your career, and she made it so I could never work as a dancer again, leaving me in the dust and-*Reyna's heart began to beat much faster as she lied to Detective Westling.* Subjecting me to have to put up with men grabbing my ass on a daily basis just to put food on the table for myself. *Reyna sniffled and leaned forwards, placing her hands over her eyes* You have to believe me, Shawn, you just have to!

Shawn stopped writing abruptly. He set his notepad and pen on the table. " You do realize how odd that must seem, right? That on the night of Madam English's death, you arrived to her party unannounced and running around like a drunken lunatic. Then, at the time of her death you were no where to be seen! Now you appear to be lying to me as all reports show that you have been employed to her since before your altercation with Madam English 4 months ago! Now tell me, just why were you really at that party?!" asked Shawn. His voice and demeanor were much more hostile than before.
