Coraline stopped "ink hopping" and landed in front of Kayda with a smile, showing off her dress, which was noted that the ink ran off of it.
"Up next, the lovely Kayda ladies and gentlemen!"
"Kayda Oak" Caesar calls again, his voice surprisingly warm and welcoming. Kayda rolls her eyes and shakes her head in disgust. The crowd goes silent when they hear her name. Whispers of her performance seem to rage through the crowd like wildfire. Kayda takes advantage of the situation. She activates her power, sending a large flock of mockbirds to take flight onto the stage. They all land on the chair next to Caesar, slowly taking form into Kayda. The crowd goes silent, even Caesar seems shocked. She catches him staring at the piece of robe tied onto her arm.
"You like it?" Kayda asks with a smirk. "I got it as a gift from her-" she points to Megami.
"I'll ask the questions sweetie," Caesar snaps, there was an unusual tightness in his voice. "The Capitol is curious, what does your family think of you being chosen for the Minegames? They must be distraught!" Now it's Kayda's turn to look irritated. Her jaw tightens and she can't help but glare at Caesar. This was a loaded question, it was clear that he didn't want her to get sponsors. But she refused to lose this bet! If they wanted to play dirty, then she would play dirty.
Tears slip down Kayda's face. She raises a hand onto her face, muffling her sobs. "My parents are dead to me, they killed my sister!" She manages to spit out between her sobs. Obviously not expecting this reaction, Caesar sits there looking uncomfortable. He tries to comfort her, placing a hand over Kayda's hand. She rips her hand away as if he were poison. She lowers her hand, sniffling. She accepts a handkerchief from an audience member and uses it to dab her eyes. "But, if my sister were still alive. She would want me to be tough. She would want me to fight, I know she'd be proud of my efforts so far."
The crowd whispers amongst each other. All comments are positive, they seem satisfied with that answer. "Last question Kayda, what do you think of the Capitol? Of Snow" Another loaded question.
"I hate the Capitol and Snow" Kayda replies honestly. The crowd gasps at her answer. It suddenly hits her, she doesn't really care about winning this bet. The main point of this interview was for her to have an excuse to mock the Capitol. That's exactly what she intended to do. She no longer cared about winning the bet. She turns away from Caesar and looks straight at Tenacity. "...But only because it's not home. The Capitol doesn't make me feel safe, doesn't make me feel happy. To me, the Capitol is meaningless. Do you want to know what makes me feel at home? What makes me feel safe and happy?" She turns back to Caesar, who waits in anticipation.
"YES!" The crowd roars.
Kayda smirks. "Hmm, that's too bad, some things should be kept to myself... and far away from the Capitol's dirty hands. I won't fight for the Capitol. But I will fight for the one who makes me.... me." The crowd gasps again, both shocked and angered by her answer. Not that she cares. She strolls away from Caesar, not taking even a second to look back. She races over to Tenacity and hugs him, which was a bit awkward because he was sitting. "It's you" she whispers to him.
Akane nearly choked on her tongue at Kayda's performance, if Kayda didn't have a target on her back, she did now. No one ever, as in ever, talks like that and gets away with it Scott-free. Even as a struggling Youtuber she knew that she had to watch her tongue. When Akane hears her name being called by Ceasar she quietly curses and walks towards the stage. The moment she steps out into the view of the crowd her heart picks up and her breathing gets slightly shallow as nervousness slowly takes over. Guess those few years of Youtbuing as helpful as she thought, at least she hasn't passed out or anything. In the spotlights, her dress softly shimmers like a candle in the night, from below the crowd "ooh"ed and "ahh"ed.
Tenacity could only kiss the top of her head, whispering to her. "It's fine with me... If anybody tries to get to you, they'll have had to kill me twice over first." His voice only enforced the statement, the tone riddled with the iron spikes of honesty.
"What are you hoping for in the arena? Akane wracked her brain for a moment, considering all the times she's actually played the MineGames for PC (called Block World) for her fans, she's never really considered what she had been always hoping for the most. "Admittedly, I've never really thought of that," Akane admitted somewhat bashfully. "A water source maybe."
