The Festival of Life would be happening in a few days and the citizens were in a bustle to prepare. Faith and the princesses were out admiring some of the best wares the shop keepers had out on display. Maddy, Drake, and a few others were out with them for protection purposes.
"Five gold and two silver." She shopkeeper said, "but for you, princess Charlie, four silver." Charlie smiled and handed the shopkeeper the silver in exhange for the lengh of silk.
The twins watched in delight as the fountain spewed water from the top like the one they had. Aura suddenly turned her head and saw several kittens rolling around in a large box. With an exicted gasp the child headed over and leaned on the side carefully. There was a large litter of kittens of black, white and a few gray kittens, but only one ornage one with bright sahpire eyes. This one Aura picked up it and turned to her mother. "Can we keep it?"
Faith looked at the tiny kitten then to the shop keeper. "How much?"
"Take it, she's free. I've got too many at home." The elderly man said. "Unles you want a collar for her, that'll be three bronze."
Aura looked up at her mother who smiled and payed the three bronze for the bright red ribbon and a silver bell that was her collar. "I'm naming you Pheonix. Like the bid."
(Prices: 10 bronze = 1 coper
10 coper = 1 silver
10 silver = 1 iron
10 iron = 1 gold
10 gold for a precious gem)
"Drake, that's not nesssary-" Faith started but a sudden angry shout cut her off.
"Stop! Theif!" Everyone whirled around and Faith's gaurds stood at attention waiting to portect her and the kids if needed. They expected a threat, but instead a dark skined girl with matted tangled black hair, no older then ten was running, in her hands was a stale loaf of bread, the shopkeeper was behind her and quickly gaining. Because the girl had the stride of a child he quickly caught her and dragged her by the arm back to his stand.
Faith started to follow when her advisor, an older man, put a hand on her. "You majesty, if I may interject, I would advise that you stay out of this matter. It's being handled."
"Noted." Faith said and followed anyway. The shopkeeper had dragged the child back to his stand, a food stand and firmly put her arm on a chopping board. His other hand he was holding a Cleaver. "Stop!" Faith grabbed his arm, the owner nearly smacked her but stopped himself when he saw it was Faith.
"My queen." He gasped. "This little street rat stole a loaf of my bread. Punishble by loss of a limb."
The child was already sobbing. "We dont have any money! My mom's sick and she wont get out of bed. I-I thought if I brought her food it might make her feel better. . ."
Faith looked from the child to the shopkeeper. "How much is the bread?"
"Two bronze." He responded.
Faith pressed the coins to the counter and shot daggers at him. Her tone was calm but underneath lurked a threat. "If I ever catch you ever, threatening to remove a limb your shop will get taken down, this isnt' your first offence either. If some one steals you report it. Understood?" He nodded and Faith relased him. The child rubbed her arm and looked at Fiath. "Where's your home little one?" The girl sniffed and led the way.
