This is something that has been annoying me for a while...
122 Days to change your username.
I play another game where you can change your username every 30 days, so that really got me thinking...
Why can't the name changing cooldown be shortened? even 60 days would be an improvement you know?

Now to go into a bit more depth, there are a couple of things you can do to make this improvement.
-You could just straight up shorten the cooldown, that being the most obvious one. I'll be happy with nearly anything below 90 days. 60 and below being amazing in my opinion.
Or..
-You could set an amount of time that you can change your username for free, but any days above that there could be a fee to change your username again. Let me explain this a bit more, since I'm assuming this would be the confusing for most:
So, say if you had changed your username, you had 60 days to wait before you could change it for free, But at 40 days you started feeling impatient, you could pay a fee (in nuggets/PD, if this is implemented, it'll probably be in nuggets) to change it that day.
Quote from William_AftonThe fee should be high if it's a few days to a week after the change, but go down the longer and more patient the user is.

If you feel i missed out something, feel free to let me know and i'll add it here. I'm human after all, i'm not perfect.

Supported!

It sounds nice. A little under 4 months is kind of ludicrous.

I thing that a month or two would be a long enough cooldown.

As a reason for justifying this - maybe a user found that their name is too similar to another, or even that people are accidentally contacting them instead, but they changed it earlier that month. But now they need to change it again. So they can pay the fee and be done with it.

The fee should be high if it's a few days to a week after the change, but go down the longer and more patient the user is.

I mean...i'm kind of torn here...

Of course 122 days is far too long, but the thing is that not every user constantly needs to change their username- this would only really only significantly help a specific group of users who change their usernames as soon as the cooldown is up- or soon after it is up. Also...aren't usernames supposed to be well-thought out before you change them? And if it was made so you could pay a fee to change it anytime or much sooner than normal, then people could abuse it. You can't make it too cheap (so basically any way to pay in PD) because then people will constantly change their usernames, but if you make it too expensive (really just nuggets, since those are expensive and hard to buy from other uses) nobody will like it, and call for the price to be lowered.

However I do agree that shortening the time a little tiny bit (maybe like a week or so) would be fair, since 122 days is far too long.

i mean a week or two isn't really much of a change, at most that'll put it down to 108 days, which imo is still a bit too long XD (that's why i say 60-90 days which'll be more of a significant change, being that you can actually see the difference XD)
Also with the 'usernames are meant to be well-thought out' that's exactly why I'm suggesting this in the way that i am, your username still needs to be well thought out but you're not stuck with it for ~4 months. Also, what if someone made a typo/autocorrect mistake in their username, should they really have to deal with their mistake for that long?

and yes, the fee is intended to be more pricey the more recent it is that you changed your username. I'll just quickly add that to the front post ^.^

Umm nope - no support.
Some people change names back to their original cause they sign arts, and they dont like their original as much as the one they have now,and they're forced to change back to the original so no one takes their name and steals their art.So the 122 days for name change cooldown is good.Well it happens
so nope.

But...it's 100% the user's fault if they don't check to see if anybody has a close username to somebody, or has a typo. The whole system should NOT be changed for that... Usernames are meant to be representative of you as a person, and if the user is careless enough to need to change it because of a typo or something then that's not our problem.

And 60-90 days..I think that would be much too short. Like I said, having it be that short would only really help the one type of user who would change their username (carelessly sometimes) every chance they get.

Username changes confuse people, and if they aren't well thought out then that isn't the system's fault. So..basically i'm saying yes- they do just have to deal with it, it's not the system's fault, it should not be changed for all the flaws that would come from it.

And with making it pricey...I don't think that would work. Like I said, if it's too expensive, nobody will use it and users may suggest over and over again to shorten it...

My honest view. I don't see the point? I only ever changed my name once and I was happy with the cool down.

But I could see how people would want to change it.

I'm 50/50 I wouldn't perosnally use it but I don't think it would be a bad thing.

I mean it would be better if it wasn't too long, but not to short. 100 days seems fine.

I don't believe this really needs to change.

On some websites, Flight Rising for example, username changes cost the premium currency, 500 Gems in FR's case. I personally like the free changes we have, even if it means waiting sometimes.

On another site I visit, the cool down is a minimum of two years. The change must also be submitted in a very specific range and way and approved by a moderator.

The system in place now is fine IMO. Fourish months to change isn't terrible. If absolutely necessary to update, allowing a faster change using 500 Nuggets seems reasonable.

Personally, I say no support.
