Auction House: Bid Cancels
Forum-Index → Suggestions → Rejected → Auction House: Bid CancelsFor the most part, we've all been there.
That instant regret when you realize you hit the zero one more time than you meant to, and now your only hope is that the user will be nice enough to return some of the extra Pokedollar.
My Suggestion
I propose we add a 'cancel bid' option, which is only available up to 2 minutes after you offer on the Pokemon, and for the last 30 minutes of the auction, it will also be unavailable. (To prevent last-minute backing out on an auction.)
I believe this will help prevent a lot of accidental overbids and save people from messing up their balances over a small, easily avoidable mistake.
By only making the option available when the auction has more than 30 minutes remaining, and up to 2 minutes after the bid was posted makes abuse extremely difficult.
You could only change the bid immediately after posting it as I stated, and as the auction is coming to an end, all bids posted are final. Abusing that seems rather difficult in my opinion.
a. This, like Jek_Porkins stated, has been suggested and rejected a number of times. You're supposed to check whether it's been suggested and/or rejected before you create your thread.
b. This suggestion seems to be among the lines of 'I accidentally released my Pokémon help me get it back' and players asking to get things they accidentally gave away. It's on you for accidently overbidding on something.
In response to Alive, this is not at all about deliberately bidding more than you intended or bidding "on an auction you know you can't afford". It's for an accidental bid, where you have have hit a key one extra time, paying 10x more than you intended.
And in response to it being the fault of the person who bid, yes I agree. But comparing it to people who "gave" their things away or "released" their pokemon is completely unreasonable. Those players are asked to CONFIRM before doing so, For example the pop-up notifications asking if you're sure you'd like to release a pokemon, and the multiple times confirming before sending another player an item. When bidding on an auction, the second you hit the enter key it is final.
If the players of this site are so against the idea of a 'cancel bid' option to be available (despite my modifications to make it un-abuseable) then at the very least, there should be a confirmation pop-up asking, "Are you sure you'd like to bid XXXXXX PD for this Pokemon?"
Thanks.

1. Ask for your money back in exchange for the Pokemon. Most users are very nice and understanding. When this has happened to me, every user I talked to was very understanding.
2. THINK BEFORE YOU BID-It takes 10 seconds at most to weigh the pros and cons of bidding on a Pokemon.
3. If you're clumsy, just think a bit more/double check the number your putting in the auction house before sending it. I personally always triple-check the number of PD I put into a Pokemon before sending it.
And this site isn't perfect, and I feel no need to have this suggestion implemented, because things like this would make the game so much easier and more thoughtless/suspenseful for us. Even with the restrictions you have suggested, its still very easy to abuse. (I'm sorry if this is the wrong time to bring myself into this conversation..)
EDIT: Thank you so much! I'm glad my points are clear :3
Thank you for being clear about your points!
I didn't attack anyone personally, and I'd appreciate if you wouldn't either.
destine suggested a fairly abuseproof system
first answer "it´s easy to abuse, no explanation, no support"
destines reaction: "no it´s not, because *reason*"
second answer: "it´s easy to abuse, no explanation, no support"
and so on
after the third time someones "opinion" was "it´s easy to abuse, no explanation, no support" they got rather annoied, which I think is completely understandable, because a lot of people didn´t think about what destines suggestion was even for a second.
CONCLUSION:
THINK BEFORE YOU ANSWER (and this goes to those non-explainers as well as to these "uh salty straight away"-people
First of all, stated by everyone,This can be abused and annoying.
But what should be implemented is a pop box saying "Are you sure?"and the amount of pokedollars below the "Are you sure" part.
You will have the option of either yes or no
Now this can take up time if you are trying to snipe but it can be turned off in settings
This "pop up box" could be better than the "cancel" button for a auction
