Palpad Messages 'Seen'
Forum-Index → Suggestions → Rejected → Palpad Messages 'Seen'Like a simple example would be any other social networking site as in Facebook for consideration once a message arrives on the palpad down below it should be shown as 'seen by x user' so at least we can get to know if the person opposite to you have seen the message or not hopefully it will control Spam messages to certain limits.
Feel free to make an opinion ! :3
I would support an 'Away' option
The 'Away' option would really help. Also, for people on mobile who can't use the palpad, they can select the option that they are away from the computer. I also keep my laptop open with the page up pretty much all day, but sometimes I'm cooking or away.

If people aren't answering your messages, they most likely don't have time to reply at this very moment or, maybe, just don't want to talk to you. : )
Also, how exactly does this "control spam"? Stuff like this, in my opinion, only encourages spam because people will only start bothering you for you to reply their messages rather than leave you alone and wait for you to reply.
No support.

While I get where everyone who has commented above is coming from, it's sometimes really pressuring because I'm the kind of person who doesn't necessarily immediately reply. It's a different matter altogether if that feature is shown between mutual friends on here, but I don't see why the other person should know whether I've read their message or not when I don't even know them.
There's also the situation with mods who probably get tons of messages through PalPad on a daily basis. Some people would probably get all sulky/offended/impatient if they don't immediately receive a reply, so I think they should have their freedom and privacy in that regard as well. Besides, that feature only gives certain people one more way to stalk you.

But i respect people like Keiji and Tetsurou who might not reply to anyone instantly but for this i feel that will be your own indigenous decision nothing to emphasize on totally i guess this would be helpful for most of us ? Not sure that's why i suggested and asked for view points ! :3
I'm rather anxious when it comes to new people myself and would prefer not to have a panic attack over my inbox.
I was thinking why not add more colors to the little dot when you load up your palpad? We already have green for when you're on so why not add yellow or blue for idle/busy (The player is obviously on PH but maybe hasn't seen a message because s/he is busy mass clicking), and red for if you don't feel like chatting that day. That way privacy isn't invaded and hopefully the messager realizes that s/he merely needs to be patient and the spamming stops, or doesn't message at all that day if you're not up for talking.
and the opposite side of it, waiting for a response... not even sure if they've seen you're message. do you try again? maybe they didn't see you. or maybe they did see, and they're ignoring you. now you're just annoying them.
great idea, very much supported =]
I think the same like Tetsurou and Keiji. I also don't like this feature on Facebook and what's app, people will be spamming even more with: "You saw my message, plz reply!" and/or "You don't like me?"
And for me personally and the other moderators would this feature meaning to get even more spam and impatient messages. So nope.
No matter how you slice it, users are gonna keep spamming. Now they spam, because they think you saw their message and didn't reply. With this suggestion, they'll spam, because they know you've seen the message. For all they know, we could be replying, but the reply 'takes too long' and they start asking/spamming before you could send the answer. Honestly, very annoying whenever it happens. And what about people who come online for a second to check any messages, read the PalPad and go off again? Should they start expecting a flood of 'you came online and saw my message, why haven't you answered immediately?'
Most spam [in my PP] happens because I have to go offline during a conversation; some users just keep on messaging me, after I tell them I have to go. Do you really think a 'seen' message [or lack thereof] would stop them, if me telling them directly doesn't?
[Oh, and before anyone asks, this happened to me as a non-Mod as well... In case you were wondering :p ]
On the other hand, I've had users visit my profile, see I was offline and proceeded to spam my PalPad. Unless they think I can visit PokéHeroes, while keeping the 'x hours ago' on my profile, I'm pretty sure they didn't really expect an answer and wouldn't be stopped by the lack of a "seen" message.
Personally, I think that little button/dot next to the name is the only indication they need -
green = online; whitish = phone/mobile PP app; grey = offline. Any more
Also, @Tatarikun, you're automatically put as 'offline' after 15 minutes of activity. If the little button next to your name is grey, people shouldn't expect you to respond ;)

Exactly that. I had cases where people literally stalked me and were immediately like "I saw that you were online for three minutes so why didn't you answer me??"
In all honesty, that's just plain rude, and with that function, it will only get worse.

Every suggestion that way i believe has Pros and cons though that wont mean it's not worth it.
Just telling this fact seeing the community support towards this suggestion which is more then the double of no supporters.
They can already figure out if they're being ignored or not - if the little bubble is green or white, without any answer, chances are you're being ignored. If the bubble is grey, they simply haven't seen it or didn't have the time to answer. I still see no reason for a literal verification as I really don't see this decreasing the PP-spam.
The thing is, though, that whether or not it's been read, won't stop spam; people even spam if you're offline and have no chance of answering. Why would that change, simply because they have verification that it's been seen? It would only encourage a different kind of spam, but it won't decrease the total amount of spam.
Edit - Also, while numbers are a good indication, they aren't everything. Actual discussion tells us more than numbers ever will.

I'll be straight with you.
Yes, every suggestion has its pros and cons, and yes, I definitely can relate where the people are coming from that they vote positively for this suggestion. But at the same time, if you message people who are close to you, this feature becomes redundant. If you can't even be patient enough to wait for a response or just accept the fact that the other person is not in the mood to talk to you, then, simply put, you just aren't qualified as a friend. You're just being pushy without even considering the other person's privacy and their freedom. And for those people to get this function only equals making the other party they are bugging even more uncomfortable than they actually feel. So no, I'm not supporting this suggestion because it just means you would continue borderline harrassing my friends, easy as that.
