I'm sorry, I don't even know where this should go, its' such a minute thing, but its' really been plaguing the mass clickers around here as of late.
I quickly took a check around to see if there was another thread floating, but hadn't seen one, I'm very sorry in advance if it is a dup of some sort.

more specifically, what I'm talking about, is this

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against people naming their pokemon, I usually name mine as well, with fancy little web/wigdings as well, but using this specific coding (which tbh, really isn't needed for naming your things) shouldn't be able to be entered.

The problem with all of this, is that because there isn't technically a name on your pokemon, it moves the "train with so-and-so"up enough that if you're not paying attention whiles clicking, you'll be mindlessly clicking absolutely nothing until you pay attention to your screen again.

Yeah, sure, you could argue that we should pay attention whiles clicking, but at the same time, you're given the option to give your pokemon a name, not name it some random coding all because it gives its native name a pretty colour.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ idk, I just thought it had to be brought up.

Edit:
The user ~Hatoko~, has brought up another serious reason as to why this should be removed.

Even though I'm currently using the code just found it out 5 mins ago and I LOVE coding I do agree with this

People should really nickNAME their pokemon, not just use a code that takes up so much space that you can either name your pokemon 'nothing' ,or a 1-2 letter name

Agreed with this! There should be an error message that pops up if someone tries to give a pokemon a nickname that would show up as nothing. I often watch vids and stuff while clicking so sometimes when I encounter these pokemons without names I end up clicking nothing without realizing

YES!! I found a Kyogre with the same thing, and where I would've has arounx 20k interactions, I only ended at 15 a few days ago! It was super annoying, because it's POINTLESS. Not only is the name invisible, but it also causes trouble for other players, just ughhh

Oh my gosh, I agree with this so much. It's quite annoying coming across Pokemon with these names when you're clicking. u.u

Yes. This is getting pretty annoying. And I think more people are doing it the Kyogre was bad enough but I've seen more Pokemon since then. I wish that something can be done to change this.

While clicking I once went through a whole minute clicking blank space because I didn't realize the page had moved due to these Pokemon. I (and probably many others) watch videos while clicking so I'm not going to notice something like this.

I support the idea that this needs to be changed. It makes the main aspect of the site(the clicking) more tedious and annoying than it should be.

Full support, didn't manage to see this topic earlier so i already contacted the support about the matter...

my arguments against coding on pokemon-profiles are:

-the clicklists become useless, since the clickbutton is not in place
-not everybody is a good coder and may totally mess up with it
-the trend may get out of control by using flashing letters or other modifications
-you can use coding on your userprofile to express individuality, seems enough for me

I really think this is needing to stop, like one or two in a while is fine, but the number increased drastically to the point of not even being able to use the clicklists effectively anymore

I also saw some that have the name floating around- At first, I couldnt even SEE where the train button was

That or just code the interactions page to not move when the brackets names are used because I actually think the colored names are ridiculously cool

I'm aware of that

But maybe it could be fixed so on the interactions page it still shows the Pokemon's native name or something so the code works on profiles only?? Idk I have no idea how coding works but I like the code and yeah its pretty sad that it messes with clicklists but if that could be avoided by all means I'd rather it be modified to work than have it blocked or removed because I legitimately freaked out and was so excited to find out you could do this

The easiest thing to do, I believe, is to tweak the coding where if < and > are in the name, it is marked as using "invalid characters" thus a <3 in the name wouldn't be flagged, but a <Name> would be.

This would be one to four lines to add to the site code. (Since there is only one "change nickname" option for the pokemon, that I know of)

I fully support this, even though I haven't had issues with it, yet.

Agreed so much to this, there's so much trouble in interacting because the interact button keeps on moving up and down ._.

I actually encountered some names with empty space only, before these html codes were used. Same issue is experienced with those names, so it would be nice if all names, without any text appearing on the page so that the button moves up, is not allowed.

Edit: Sorry if I wasn't clear, so posting this example a bit late here: Pokemon with blank nickname

If there was a way to fix it as -Azzie- suggested, I wouldn't be that opposed to keeping the codes. I mean, if people want to be creative or whatever than sure.

What's bothersome is the clicklists. I was clicking away when I came across this. A pokemon with a name that marquees. You know there's a problem if the train button is at the bottom of the page. Like I said in my last post, clicking is one of the main aspects of the site. If clicklists are pretty much unsuable because of this than something does need to be done to fix this.

So yeah. If there's a way to fix it so that the codes won't affect the page than sure keep them. But if not than codes should not allowed to be used for Pokemon nicknames.

another problem i see with this is trolling, maybe some users will abuse the coding just to annoy others...trolling with the coding on the userprofile isn't that bad as trolling in clicklists, which nearly everyone uses...

on a clicking site you should be able to click without problems...
