People often forget about Auctions they've bidded on .
My idea is that there could be an alarm that triggers off a notification saying" (Pokemon Name) Auction ends in (time) minutes ." for a pokemon that they have made a bid on .
It could be optional .Or there could me a button like a switch .Or both .
Looking for opinions :) .
Thanks to DemonShade for some very good points .

I don't really see a reason for this. If you are the highest bidder, you win. And when someone overbids you get a notification.

Something like this has been suggested before, and I'm pretty sure it was rejected, or got lots of no-supports.
There's nothing hard keeping the tab open, and do your stuff on other tabs.
No support.

Personally, I'd use this. I place bids on auctions that are days out, sometimes, and get out bidded, but won't place another bid until it's on the final day. I sometimes forget about these and it's not like I'll leave that tab open for over 5 days >.< 3 windows with a minimum of 3 tabs per each window gets a bit crowded when doing other things. (Grant it, it's not all PH, but PH, images, news articles, manga, anime, deviantart's stash, facebook, etc is a lot to keep up with.)

I think it should be an option that is defaulted to off, if it's added, then we can choose whether we want the alarm or not when placing a bid. (Maybe a check-box or something, I don't know) since this feature would be annoying if you have bids on 5+ auctions ending in under 30 minutes. (Then again, I get annoyed when I get that many "you have been outbidded" notifications with no way to clear them out)

So, even though it hasn't been supported in the past, or even rejected, don't assume this one will be the same. As long as you have a valid point with it, it probably won't be moved to rejected without being looked at.

this was...kind of suggested here already, though the discussions being presented there seem slightly different than in this thread

I don't support; for the same reasons I mention in the other thread :P

What I posted there

I don't support it. I can understand the need for some to snipe, and I have been sniped on several pokémon auctions and I honestly don't mind. I should've been quicker/more alert, but this would give an unfair advantage to the snipers.

Now it's a waiting game for both. But with this suggestion, you'd give an advantage to those who can't/won't pay much. Instead of both keeping a close eye on it, those that plan to snipe can offer a small amount (maybe not even enough to be top bidder) and than get a notification, so he knows he'd better start preparing to snipe.

The only thing needed for a successful snipe is the patience to wait, and that's exactly what you'd be taking away with this suggestion, because instead of checking periodically for maybe hours on end (what I used to do when I couldn't afford the high auction prices), they'll only need to wait a few minutes.

Rephasing/Clarifying and further notes :

Getting a notification about being outbid is more than you get on ebay, but getting a notification when the auction is nearing its end, would take away from the 'real' (online) auction experience.

The internet is all about being alert and fast; including any online auctions you might be interested about. If you were really interested in a certain pokémon, and you know there won't be a notification signaling its end, you would take... certain steps to make sure you don't miss it.

Also, I don't think making it 'optional' is going to work.

@CatLady : This is not about sniping .This could be useful for people who tend to forget things .
Moreover they ARE going to wait and pay attention cause this is not going to be 3 or 5 minutes .
It can be 15 or 20 minutes .So , either way they have to be quick .

Then don't bid in the Auction house if you know you're forgetful, and then 'complain' about it. Auction house is about memory, and not forgetting things. If you forget about an auction, it's technically your fault. You can just simply make an alarm/ set up a count-down on another tab, or you can just leave the Auction tab open and check back at it frequently.

With this implemented, people will have too many advantages. The auction isn't meant to be easy.

No support for reasons stated by toothless. If you're forgetful don't bid, if you want a Pokemon bad enough just keep a tab open and remember it.

@Saknar.
A suggestion is rejected if it is moved to the ''Rejected'' sub-form, or if the thread is closed. Like Luna said, this is still open and people are still able to post.

Just because you won't use it to make sniping easier, doesn't mean others won't, it would still cut down the waiting time and give them an unfair advantage.
