I enjoy going and chatting within HeroChat lots of times. However, it is quite often I see somebody accused of having broken a rule of the chat. It would all be easier for them to follow if the rules could be written above (or below) the chat box. This way, (hopefully) would prevent people from breaking a chat rule by mistake.
It's a simple idea of mine, and hopefully, not too complicated.

(Also, if you do not support, please state why you don't. Don't just say 'no support'.)

There is no need for this, as the Moderators already know what is and isn't a chat rule... No support

I support. It's especially an issue when there's no mod on the chat, there's some people who come in, not having read any of the rules.

I don't think they should be on the chat page itself, as they'd take up too much space and be really inconvenient. However, the chat rules definitely need to be written somewhere, as they used to be on the Wiki but aren't any more. Maybe there could be a link to them above the chat box, so they can be accessed from the chat without taking too much space on the page itself.

MSS, that makes no sense at all. Yes, the mods know the rules. No, the users who didn't see them when the Wiki page was still up don't know the rules. They're going to break rules because they don't know that they exist. The fact that the mods know the rules makes it MORE important for the users to know them, or they're going to get in trouble for things that they don't know are rules.

I'm pretty sure that this applies everywhere, including the chat

CarpetMonster: Actually, you are incorrect. The rules are on the Wiki again. link

I'm not sure if I'd support adding another link on the chat page, though. Some users get on from devices with touch screens and already have issues with the ads or usernames, so adding another link may only cause them more issues.

That aside, they need to be listed somewhere other than getting constantly linked by others.

I don't support. You should read the rules anyway before doing anything on the site. If you don't read them, and break a rule, who's fault is that? Not the mods for not giving you a list of rules in the chat. It's yours for not reading them.

I see people break rules in chat such as: writing in all caps, using bold when not holding a quiz, swearing, spamming, not writing complete words such as "r" and not "are", asking for clicks, the list goes on and on. A lot of these, however, won't get you banned from chat right away. You will get a mod saying "hey don't do this" and then you know. So if you do break a rule you get a warning, unless it is so profound such as swearing in a horrible manner you will get timed out, and you learn from it.

If people are too lazy to read the rules where they are then what makes you think they'll read the rules if linked on Herochat? It's not that hard to see the rules, it is no ones fault but the rule breakers for breaking the rules.

I didn't know that they were back up. Now that I know, no support. Sorry; it'd just make the page cluttered, and there's absolutely no need to say the rules in two places.

I do not support the original idea of having the rules on the chat page itself. It would just clutter up the page.

.......But wouldn't it be easier to just have the chat rules on the site rules page? I mean before DemonShade posted the link to the wiki I didn't even know that there were chat specific rules. Most people, like me, probably only read the site rules, not thinking that there were more rules in the wiki.

I support! As a newbie, I posted something and it was supposevly against the rules, but noone was for sure and a few people started fighting over it. And also, for new people on the website, it would be ALOT easier to read and understand the rules if they were in plain sight. I totally support this idea, becouse it's awesome! And I also agree with Delphox.

Add me if you want to! I'd be really happy if anyone could trade me a Thundurus, since it's the last one I need to finish my pokedex! PM me or meet me in-game!

i definitely support a link to the chat rules above the chat somewhere

it NEVER hurts to have rules linked in a convenient place where people can read them, and it makes complete sense to have them linked around above sideways or somewhere around the chat the rules are intended for

Autumn: The convenience is already there for them: All they have to do is press 'Community' and then 'Rules'. Putting a link in chat would only further make chat more annoying for a touch device user (not speaking for all touch device users, I know there are some who are perfectly fine with the way it is and would be ok with this, but a lot of us do have trouble, especially during lag times)

Honestly, I think most people who spam know they are breaking the rules but use the excuse "I didn't know the rules" as a ticket to rebel without getting in trouble.

there are separate rules for the chat though, like no emphasis except for chat quizzes, no asking for egg/pokemon clicks, etc see here

like i said, it makes sense to have the chat rules linked to on the chat page, much like it makes sense to have the general pokeheroes rules linked on the general pokeheroes page

also, i'm just saying, but the majority of people who don't support this are people who aren't chat regulars and don't deal with this particular issue on a regular basis

Oh! I didn't know that. In that case, I'm neutral. However, I do think the chat rules should be added to the rules page.

i do SUPPORT this for many reasons already stated

though i have two ideas on how they could be published on the chat webpage

option 1: the rules appear at the top of the chat box when you first open it up, therefore there is no excuse for anyone to not see them

option 2: they are in a spoiler box on the web page under near or above the chat box. that way if a mobile user accidentally clicks on it they arent redirected to a new page and lose that chat window.

just some food for though *goes to nom on my lunch*

Please note that Bourkey has gotten the support from several of us in the chat already before posting the ideas here.

I'm active in the chat, and I think that having the hide box or both options would help with some of the problems that happen in the chat. So, if those are actually considered, full support from me.

My problem is only with another link for device users instead of computer users :3

I second DemonShade's statement, though I think it should be in a hide box either below or above the 'Online' part of the Userbar.

Support for reasons already stated
And the fact that if I see another person use emphasis without permission or click beg, I'm gonna flip a table.

I think that before you enter the chat, the rules pop up instead and you have to click that you have read them. This'll only happen once, but the rules should be in, like, a hide box in the chat or something.
