Having arrived in the Fifth Year girl's dorm, 'Ri had collapsed into the bed, Eucalyptus immediately springing up beside her and settling atop the covers, purring. The next morning, she'd woken up about 15 minutes later than was optimal, rushed to take a shower, and now stumbled into Charms, her long brown hair pinned up in a haphazard, dripping messy bun, only a moment or so behind schedule. Yanking her books out of her bag and laying them open on her desk, she tried to ignore Flitwick's eyes beating down on her. And also the water dripping down her neck. That was a bit annoying, too. 'Ri knew there was a Hot Air Charm that would dry her hair in a heartbeat, but, as if in testimony to her complete incompetence in this class, she couldn't recall what the incantation was for the life of her.

Startled out of his thoughts by someone just barely making it to class on time, Amane was surprised to recognize Hurricane, the girl he'd seen at Malkins'. Glad to know someone else, he noted the very frazzled expression on her face. He could sympathize; he wasn't the best morning person, either. Quietly whipping out his wand, Amane decided a little practice couldn't hurt. Reciting the incantation - Aridam - in his mind, he began drying off the poor girl. A slightly mischievous smirk passed across his face as he wondered how long it would take for her to notice.

Waiting impatiently for the stairs to move again, Nene looked around. There were several students who were either late or lost, racing desperately across the maze of hallways. In the chaos, it was hard to notice anyone stand out, besides those who were just...well, standing. A blue swish of fabric caught her eye. A few paces away, a Ravenclaw boy looked quite as though he had a headache. She had enough time to at least see if she could help. "Uh...excuse me? I- sorry," she said, almost regretting her decision as she remembered how awkward she was. "I was just wondering, are you alright? I'm Nene Yashiro. Do you need anything?"

Tsukasa was b-o-r-e-d. And that meant trouble. Well - usually, it did. Today he was trying to be on his best behavior. It might be totally worth it around midterms, but there was no sense in getting detention on the first day; Amane would be so disappointed. But it was almost worth it, if it meant he could get out of Muggle Studies. Why had he signed up for this class, again? Ah, that's right. He'd wanted to see what magical people thought of non-magical people, from their point of view. He hadn't realized that it would be this dull. Resting his head on his desk, he fought back a long sigh. Just a little longer, and then he'd be free.
'Welcome to a new year, students! this year we will be learning some of the most advance spells like non verbal spells, patronuses and.. though, of course many of you know how to cast patronuses already?' he asked with a knowing smile.' So this year's first class, we'll be starting with the shield charm!'He began explaining,- [i]"The Shield Charm was a charm that protected the caster with an invisible shield that reflected spells and blocks physical entities. There were multiple variations of the Shield Charm. When cast, a (usually) invisible shield is conjured in front of the caster's wand, creating a protective barrier between themselves and their attacker. This shield can block and reflect a multitude of spells, such as most jinxes, hexes, and minor curses, as well as block physical forces. Exceptionally powerful Shield Charms are even able to knock people off their feet. However, this shield isn't completely impenetrable, as it cannot block Unforgivable Curses. The Shield Charm's origins are unknown, but was in use by the 15th century." He explained.
'So first, we'll learn the incantation! repeat after me, pro-TAY-goh! repeat again?'
the class shouted, PROTEGO!
'very well very well, professor flintstone said. now we'll practice!.
and with that all of them lined up, took out their wands and practised the shield charm.

'Ri was so focused on trying to understand the literal hocus-pocus in the textbook that she didn't notice her hair drying until the back of her neck began to heat up. Though moving her hand to rub at it with a little confusion, she continued attempting to follow along with the Professor. However, when the heat didn't go away, and in fact increased, she spun around in her chair just as Professor Flitwick instructed them all to stand. She saw a boy, Amane, she recalled from Diagon Alley the other day, pointing his wand at her with a very convicting look on his face. Scowling good natured-ly and with a slight grin playing at the corner of her eyes, she pulled out her own wand and muttered, "Protego," figuring this was technically what the Prof. had told them to do, anyway. However, she pronounced it, "PrOt-ehg-goo", having only read the word, not really hearing the verbal pronunciation due to said reading. A large, egg-shaped, transparent-thing appeared in the air, then burst, an egg-white-like substance splattering over her. "...great," the brunette muttered, eyes shut as she spit out some of the clear goop.

"Oh, totally not your fault, thanks for the help," she grimaced, reaching up to wipe some of the remaining ick from her forehead, glad now that her hair had been up and therefore she wouldn't have to wash it again today. 'Ri paused, then asked slowly, "Wait... what would happen if you used that heat-charm in combination with whatever I just did for an extended period of time?" She was honestly curious. However, Flitwick had noticed the mess that was the floor around her and was hurrying over, a mixture of total confusion and irritation on his face. "Hurricane..." he began with a sigh upon reaching them. "What... on earth did you do this time?" Kicking at the slime-like substance on the ground, the short professor frowned. "Is this actual egg? Where- how-?"

'Ri's chest was heaving with repressed laughter; somehow, bursting out giggling in front of Flitwick didn't seem like the best idea, so she was doing everything she could to avoid doing so. "Oh, absolutely. You might even say it was... eggs-traordinary," she burst, clapping her hand over her mouth as she shut her eyes, unable to hold back her laughing any longer but still trying valiantly. Bringing herself under control as she caught the Professor's eye, she added in a serious tone, "Er, right, practice. Got it." Standing, to Amane she muttered, "Meet you in the middle courtyard after classes? We have got to test this out; my best mate will find it hilarious."

Clapping her hands once in excitement and turning, pulling out her wand again, she grinned, her eyes sparkling. "Once we get it perfected, we need to figure out how to do it long distance! Egg showers for all! Breakfast, lunch, and dinner!" she said, then changed her attention to the fir wood wand, staring down at it for a moment before waving it in a direction where no one was standing and calling, "Protego!" but more carefully this time. At first, nothing happened, then a little flicker of motion showed that a shield had in fact been created. 'Ri grinned. New friends, plans for egging the school in the most literal sense possible, and she got a Charm on her second try! Today was going well. Please, please let the rest of the year be this way...
Care for Magical Beasts was not really too interesting for Adalwen, but nonetheless, he was looking forward to his first class. This was because the class was going to be a combined one, with the 4th year Slytherins. This means a chance to see the Lestrange girl in class. A pact or perhaps even a proclamation of enmity might ensue soon enough, after all. He would also need to see the Thestrals for his original plan to go through. Whenever possible, he'd also go and see some prominent purebloods. Perhaps start with the one with who changed his family name? Or maybe the Hadrian? "It is unlikely that the former would have much role in the prophesy, considering his patronus is a lion, but a bit of blackmail might just get him under me."
