The flicker of sudden movement caught Song BingLiu's eye and his gaze flicked from Ldeya to Professor Satou so fast, his eyes hurts lightly. The professor had an unreadable emotion on his face and Song BingLiu couldn't help but eep slightly as Kendo began striding towards his direction. Wait wait wait wait wait he wasn't ready he wasn't ready for this!! Sure he showed off his magic to someone but to do it to a teacher so soon???? No no no no nope nope nope he couldn't do this nope nope nope especially not when that was his House's supervisor and someone Song BingLiu held in high esteem.

Quickly scurrying around so that Ldeya was between him and the approaching Professor, Song BingLiu fiddled with his fingers, chewing his lip to abate his racing thoughts.

Nyx watches the other prefects with a small smile, tapping a finger against the knife placed by her to let out some of the static electricity. It’s not often trouble happens right as the school year began, but it was always fun to see it. Especially so if it wasn’t her house

“What was that?”

Kendo asked, stopping right in front of Song BingLiu.

“You know what I’m talking about. Don’t deny it. What was that? I’ve never…”

He trailed off.

“…I guess that’s why you’re prefect.”

"Interesting."

Ldeya tilted her head slightly upon hearing her own voice speak. If she was surprised, she gave no indication of it. Although the sparkle of her eyes showed that she was impressed and intrigued. Perhaps Song BingLiu was the only one who could successfully impress her.

Ldeya turned the same moment Song BingLiu glanced behind her, eyes focusing on Professor Satou striding towards them. Smiling charismatically, she could almost feel Song BingLiu's nervousness radiating off him.

Flushing at the praise leveled towards him, Song BingLiu ducked his head away, averting his eyes from prying gazes. "Just... A little something... Nothing much of course! It's nowhere near usable I'm sure it just sounds awful to hear your own voice butchered that badly, especially yours Ldeya, you always have such a pretty voice, perfect for our house and I just went and made it all weird and robot like which you sound amazing in of course but it cound never compare to how pretty your real voice is. And not to mention the amount of logistical shortcomings something like this would have in any practical application so it's just a silly little thing for now but maybe... Just maybe I can speak just a little bit more confidently like this..." He rushed out, shrinking away from them the more he spoke. "It's really just a little silly trick... Nothing that special..."

"My voice sounds perfectly lovely when you use it~"

Her laugh was amused at his clumsy behaviour.

"What are the logistics behind that? Transmitting your voice into... I didn't know you could use our magic like that..."

Kendo trailed off, the professor shoving his hands in his pockets.

"...A party trick? No, no, this is good. I've been trying to figure out something similar for ages."

Shrinking under the scrutiny, Song BingLiu wrung his hands as he got his thoughts in order, hands fumbling even in the air, signs stuttering as well worn actions turned clumsy under pressure. But as more words flowed out of his mouth, the more confident his hands became until the nervous wreck that had shown Ldeya had all but melted away into a nerd who finally had someone to babble to.

"Well, I wanted an alternative to signing. Not many students' know it so I turned to magic, but seeing that I'm only really good at sound magic, I had to find work arounds. Of course, Ohm's Acoustic Law means that I'd have to make multiple sounds to achive this which isn't practical. Accounting for a set of a number of constituent pure harmonic tones at a time that the human ear can account for is certainly the biggest hurdle but sound magic makes it a little easier. I'm already used to visualizing the sounds that my body produces so attaining it to that was simple enough. And because sound obeys laws of Reflection, by manipulating the retuning sound, full sentences can be made. It only really works close quarters because of that, but in theory, if I can manipulate the sound waves as they leave, it can work at longer distances!

"There's a few flaws in my theory, one is that I can't control the reflection of sound, that's already predetermined. Another is that speech is just... unpredictable. Inflection and pacing is distinct to each person so of course mimicking my own voice is the easiest. It also is incredibly dependent on the laws of Reflection thus making the gaps between sounds inevitable. My grasp on sound isn't good enough to solve these problems yet, but I'm sure Professor, you're more than capable of something like that! Music magic is basically Sound Magic but harder anyways so I'm sure that you can build upon my theories. I actually wrote my thoughts along with the other walls that I ran into, if you want them later?"

By the end, his wretched voice was needle thin and croaking, an already ugly sound made all the more unsightly by the enthusiasm pushing it forward. But he was shining bright, eyes sparkling and hands moving in large yet sharp movements to keep up with the sheer amount of information pouring forth.

“…That is… That’s fascinating.”

A hand was on his chin, as KEndo closed his eyes for the moment. He grinned.

“man, I couldn’t’ve done this in my prefect days. I’d love to. You know where my quarters are, right?”

He laughed.

“Oh, man. You’re good at this, Song BingLiu. I’d love to sit down and have a chat.”

"Yes! Yes, of course!" Song BingLiu nodded furiously, ignoring how his reedy voice cracked with excitement. He couldn't believe it, getting to sit down and talk with a professor? That was unbelievable, he couldn't believe his luck! Of course many would say that their doors are always open to students looking to ask them questions but to have someone express a desire to actually talk about magical theory with him? Unbelievable.

"Um, actually, Professor Wright has a few of my stuff from previous years if you're interested? I ran theories by him since he teaches spells and all so..." He trailed off hopefully, cringing internally at him bringing up some of his older works. They certainly weren't the best out there but it did showcase his growth as a student!

"Charm? So you do know that I'm charming you.."

Ayran looked pleasantly surprised, as his lips hooked a smile. He put his hands behind his back and leaned forward slightly towering behind the other.

"So, since you do know. Why did you ignore my letters all summer hm?"

Ayran asked in a light tone.

"Wright has your stuff? Alright. I'll go over it when I have time."

Kendo smiled cheerfully, straightening his posture slightly.

"Hey, don't be too shy, alright? I've seen the worst of the worst. You're a talented young man. Be a little more confident."

Trixie just tilted her head quietly, as she smiled.

"I'm sorry. I didn't get any letters. You know I would have responded if I got them, right?"

She giggled softly.

"How did you even get my address?"

Ayran's slender fingers deftly hooked Trixie's hair band. Without a notice, a pool of blond cascades down. As if it were completely natural Ayran started brushing through her locks gently.

"What a silly question my dear Prefect. As your Vice, it is my duty to know everythingabout you so I can support you at any time~"

Ayran's hands toyed with a stray strand of Trixie's hair before bundling it up into three piles and braiding. With how familiar he is with his actions, it doesn't seem like it were his first time.

Just as the braid was complete, Ayran's brows furrowed.

"Strange. You didn't receive my letters?"

"You'll make a girl blush, Ayran. I'm flattered you care so much~"

She closed her eyes, letting him do as he pleased.

"Not one. Maybe my brother just never told me I got any. He's overprotective."

Yanara looked to her side and recognized a few people from previous years. Perhaps she should go over and talk to them. She noticed Trixie getting a lot of attention a few seats down. “Maybe I’ll go say hi in a bit” she thought. Her warrior training over the summer was brutal as always; it felt like forever since she could eat so decadently.

Nyx gets up and follows Yanara, curious on why someone would want to approach some squabble with the other prefects. She stays silent for now, knowing she might draw attention to herself by simply leaving her house's table

Yanara decided to keep eating for the time being having just noticed mashed potatoes. However she noticed out of the corner of her eye that someone was watching her. She brushed it off fas she was too deep into bliss to care at the moment.

It took Nyx a moment to realize Yanara wasn’t going to move. She relaxes her gaze slightly, knowing sometimes she can stare intensely to the point it feels like a small volt of electricity runs down your spin. She relaxes again, still not eating anything as she glances at the other prefects in the school

"...I see."

Ayran nods grimly, his hands leaving her hair. Once again creating distance between them. He then nods at Rui En.

"It seems that I am interrupting you two. You may continue. "

With a bow, he left as elegantly as he came.

Trixie paused, turning to look at his retreating form. With a frown, she rested her chin on her palm, pouting.

“Did he really just do that? Rui En, did he really just do that? That’s so rude! He just left me!”

Trixie whined quietly, huffing. She crossed her arms over her chest.

“Fine. Be like that.”
