I genuinely want to know why Shiny
Aqua needs 50,000 Lab eggs to be adopted? Shiny Bold only needs
7,500 Tall Grass eggs, and Shiny Staid needs 10,000 Beach
catches.
Why is Aqua significantly harder to obtain than the other Shiny Harvest Sprites?
I posted some calculations in a feed earlier:
Over the whole 4x day, I've only managed to hatch 400 Lab eggs. This seems like a lot at first, but it's nothing compared to the 50,000 needed.
Over more than 2.5 years on site, I've only hatched 2000 Lab eggs.
There's only 16 Shiny Aqua on site, compared to the 21 Shiny Bold, 54 Chef, 61 Hoggy, 54 Nappy, 70 Staid, and 53 Timid.
Additionally, there's no guaranteed rewards in between, unlike with the Tall Grass, since you can Shiny Hunt. And the others don't require completing tasks that affect your chain, so you can Shiny Hunt at the same time.
If it was 10,000 Lab Eggs, instead of 50,000, maybe that would be fair. (If we compare to Bold, it should be 7,500, but 10,000 is still much more reasonable)

At 100 eggs a day, that's 36,500 in one year. To reach the goal, it would take about 500 days at 100 eggs a day, or a little over 1.3 years, less due to bonus days.
Fishing takes staring at the screen, waiting for a bite, clicking repeatedly at the right time, using all your energy, buying more, and doing it again. It's one of my least favorite things. In that same five years, I've caught 1,889 fish. Tall Grass takes waiting 2-60 minutes per spot, which, although only a few seconds each time, is time-consuming when it comes to the amount of time waiting. So personally, I feel hatching eggs is far easier than Fishing and Tall Grass, and should therefore remain high. Dropping it down to 25k would make it more obtainable to lower-activity players, but they still have to work for it.
Don't get me wrong. I'm all for making things easier for low-activity while still being difficult to obtain. In my experience, though, whenever I've come up with an idea to make things easier for low-activity players, it's usually argued against. I'm called a whiner and told I "want everything handed to you." I would still accept your 10k, though, because, at 40 eggs a day, that's 3.4 years for those who are extremely inactive.
In my almost 9 years of playing I have only hatched.... 1968 lab eggs. Granted, there were a few years I was inactive, and I really really don't like lab hunting... but it does seem really wild to have to gather up such a large amount of lab eggs for the shiny compared to the other harvest sprites. If 10k is too little, 15k should be a nice medium. 25k is still a stretch - not everyone is in the top 10 of hatching the most eggs, yknow. You have to get really lucky on index and absolutely haunt the main page to guarantee hatching eggs incredibly quickly (other than powerorbs). Players shouldn't have to rely on incredibly rare events just to boost their lab egg progress by tons. So either the eggs needed should be lowered, or the interaction events should be raised.
I have about 2.7k lab eggs, from about 4 years as a reasonably active non-premium user from 2015-2018
This is a bit of an ask for non-premium users, who already take a month for most shiny hunts.
No offense, but you're on the ranklist; most users can't hatch that many eggs (to be exact, only 16 have hatched over 50k)
It isn't possible to hatch 100 eggs a day, without Premium and flutes, or a multiplier day.
Additionally, in the past, PH was more active, so you received more interactions. Like you said, the SCEs used to be over a weekend, not on a single day.
"Received interactions today (53)" - 6 hour old egg at 5,771 /6,630 EHP
"I would still accept your 10k, though, because, at 40 eggs a day, that's 3.4 years for those who are extremely inactive."
I personally would consider myself a more active user, with 2400 hours of game time. "Active" does not mean constantly lab hunting.
"Eggs hatched 6"
Lets say you somehow manage to hatch 25 eggs a day. Thats 7.5 years of continuous lab hunting; no shiny hunting in between.
Fishing is personally much easier, since you can grind it in a short period of time; you don't have to be online the entire day to rely on others to get your eggs hatched.
I agree that Tall Grass has a waiting period, but at least you can Shiny Hunt using Daycare + TG at the same time.
Unlike the Lab, where you're just mindlessly adopting eggs. Like Meep said, a major part of the game is shiny hunting.
