So a little while ago I came up with a small event idea, that could be hosted once a month or so, like SCS is. I posted about this on my feed as well and people seemed interested, so I figured I'd try to make it an official suggestion here.

The idea is as follows: once in a while, an event occurs and prof. Rowan finds more eggs of a certain type than usual. For example, he finds more dragon type eggs than usual, meaning dragon type eggs become a bit more common in the lab.

This would be a useful event for dex completion as well as the recently released Koraidon/Miraidon quests.

For balancing reasons, this boost would not be huge (but how big it would be exactly is one of the things I'd want to discuss here).
Also, like SCS, I think it should be limited to one day a month only, since otherwise it could potentially decrease the value of rare lab eggs like legendaries (i.e., an electric type boost could make Zapdos eggs more common if there's less of other eggs of a type in the lab).

In addition, Kuroo suggested on my feed that the Pokémon type chosen for the event could be an extension of the current Castform weather.

Since the Castform weather changes during a day, should the type that gets boosted in the lab follow this pattern, or should the type that gets chosen by the weather stick around for the whole day? (Provided we do use the weather to decide on the type boost, of course).

I personally think it should follow the weather changes.
So like:
Mornings: weather: rain - type boost: water
Midday: weather: meteors - type boost: dragon
Etc

I think it would be neccasary to change the chance of getting a certain type of depending on the type. Because if you have a Normal or a water type event, a 25% percent chance of getting a pokemon from that type will be barely noticable, while with dragon types, I think it will be too much

I agree. There are more water types in pokemon than dragon types so the boost should be handled accordingly

Boosting this again.

I've been doing the newly added Great Tusk tasks and found that finding Fighting and Ground type eggs is actually kinda hard. Most eggs you find at the lab are normal, bug or water type (this makes sense. These type groups are the largest in terms of pokemon that have those types).
But it makes finding the right egg types extra frustrating.

So yeah, I do think this suggestion would help. And I know Riako is focusing on QoL improvements right now, so it might not be for a while. But I would like to see this idea implemented in some kind of way

I don't think it should be based on weather. Type boosts, if added, should be like Event start dates, that is to say rare maybe like twice a month max

Personally I think it would be cool to have small variations in type based on the weather - I think it would be best as a standard thing rather than an event in that case though. I'd be similar to the role weather plays in Pokemon GO, where there's still other types of pokemon, but there's a small boost to a given type based on the current weather.
