"Well, you should keep him, Ruby! I think he would make a great partner for you!" She smiled at Ruby, and then at the beetle, and turned her attention to Cami. "You're right- but we're not far, now. It's only another half an hour or so. I can see the gates of the town from here, just follow this road!"

"Mmmm... dead bug!" Dee smirked, but the jest was only half-hearted. She couldn't bring herself to do anything to disappoint Roo, and he already seemed to have some strange attachment to the creature. Its glances back at Dee did not go unnoticed. She scowled in the direction of its ruby red eye, turning to follow Mona. She was far too motherly for their negligible age difference, and it was starting to grate on her nerves. Perhaps it was because she never really had a mother who had fussed over and cared about her. Dee's mother had been very content to discipline her the moment she put a crumb out of line. Definitely not the coddling and nurturing type.

My unfinished symphony, forever unfinished! If I can't have this, then no one can.

Dee could see Ruby's faint smile betraying a growing attachment to the insect. However, the bug, perched on Roo's shoulder, shook its head in a negative motion—an odd gesture for an insectoid creature. Dee, nonchalantly pissed as ever, reiterated that the scarab wouldn't leave her side, her tone a mix of frustration and resignation.

"I swear. You don't owe me any life debt, nothing. Please go with him."

Again, it shook its head.

"Stupid..." she grumbled.

Despite the complications, Dee's flippant demeanor took over as she agreed, "But hey, for all intensive purposes, Roo, you're in charge of this bug now. You can be the bug whisperer, feed it, and do whatever it is bugs need. Just don't expect it to fetch your slippers or anything." With a shrug, she handed over the accidental responsibility, seemingly indifferent but secretly pleased to have someone else deal with the quirky scarab that had unwillingly become a part of their group.

Mona smiled at their interaction, nodding slightly and turning away. "Alright, we should keep going. The city is big, and it's full of monsters, so we should find somewhere to sleep. Maybe they have a hotel?" She never saw a single cookie around, though. The city was barren and empty- a ghost town. "I've never been here before, so I don't really know my way.."

Rosewater, now no longer distracted by the Pomegranate Scarab, followed Mona's gaze to Amaryllis City. Her eyes widened when she too realized she couldn't see a single Cookie anywhere. Had something happened? Where was everyone?!?

Lem’s gaze drifted from her bag to her surroundings. It was beautiful; so quiet and serene. Only the gentle breeze that flew through her hair, the warmth of the setting sun. Like how Floraberry was before it fell.

Rosewater, sensing the nervousness in Mona's voice, spoke quietly. "I have. A couple of times to visit family. Something definitely isn't right..." Gazing at the lifeless streets of Amaryllis City, she continued. "Even on the quiet days, there's usually Cookies about, or some sort of activity going on. This? This is all wrong... What could have happened? Was this City attacked before Teahaven???"

“I’ve brought many a batch of young cookies here. Amaryllis City is famed for their specialty in mixed magic. But that was before…this happened. Amaryllis City used to be a grand, sparkling land with spiralling towers decorated with candy-glass and more.” Cami shakes her head, looking at the ruins. “We should stick as a group, find what we need and get out as soon as possible. This feels like a perfect place to get ambushed if we split up too much” A short pause. “Rosewater is right. Amaryllis City has never been quiet. This silence bothers me greatly…it’s very eerie. Even in the dark of the nights, where few cookies are awake, you could hear the sounds of critters and the rustling of trees, even the soft tinkling of wind chimes on a windy night.”

“If we really must stay the night here, I do remember there’s a hotel not too far down the road…what’s left of it, that is. Hopefully it’s still intact, we can shelter there. Otherwise we can gather resources from the debris and make a temporary shelter. Perhaps it would be wiser to take guard shifts as well, in case we are attacked.”

Coca said nothing, shifting back to dragon form and sniffing the ground, for a trace of cookie or beast- some indication of how long this place had been deserted for.

"Somewhere to stay for the night sounds good. Let's go, then." She nodded stiffly, keeping her eyes and ears wide open for any sign of life- or an enemy attack. "I know Amaryllis City separates slightly from the main kingdom, they have a lot of their own rules. Despite it being a very high-tech city, this place seems... Dilapidated."

Cami gazes at the sky, before turning to Mona “If we’re quick, we’ll make it to the hotel before the night really sets in. And the hotel shouldn’t be too far off. Even if it’s ruined, there’s still blankets, pillows, towels and other items that might make our night here more comfortable. But given that Rosewater had family here…well, do you think it’s a good idea?” Cami turned to Rosewater as she said this last bit

Rosewater Cookie tore her gaze off the empty streets when she heard Cami mention her name. She thought about the question. Was it a good idea?

Rosewater spoke after a few seconds. "Y-yeah. That's... A good idea. We need supplies... and we can investigate too! Maybe everyone is in hiding! They're all alright and they can help us prep more adequately for this mission."

Despite wearing a smile on her lips, there was a somewhat noticable look in her eyes; which conveyed sadness and worry. She seemed to be trying to convince herself over what she had said more than anyone else.

A small hum echoed across the mountain. Sweet Jelly stood amongst the plants and sighed, sitting down and twiddling his legs. "What a glorious day today has been!" He exclaimed to no one but himself. His folded parasol rested at his side as he leaned over his knees, surveying the scene. Light spilled from his body. It made him look like a small star. He spotted some figures in the distance. "Hm? Oh! New adventurers!" He stood up and waved. "Heeeyy!!! Hallo!! You folk over there!"

Just a little further away, also in the outskirts of Amaryllis city, walks a young cookie. Syrupy hair, green symbols made of pistachio adorning his head, brown soft dough. He is glaring at a map, muttering something in a foreign dialect. Then he takes his eyes off the map to look forward to Amaryllis City. It looked different than that he heard from both customers and the guide. At first, that gives him the reason to skip this town, there's no business to be made in an empty shell of a city after all... but then he hears the echos. Someone shouting "Hey, Hello!" from not too far away. Was that the city calling to him or just some desperate soul lost in here? Either way, since he's here already, might as well!

With that mindset, Baklava Cookie is set. He's entering the town, burlap sack on his back and ready to face whatever is going on here.

You know the first rule in combat? shoot them before they shoot you.

“Well then, if that’s set let’s head to the hotel. Rosewater and I can lead the way.” Cami replied, with a faint smile, as she prepared to start moving again. The greeting of Sweet Jelly sparked alarm in Cami. Her staff raised, she semi-glared at the intruder in the distance. “And your name, stranger? Where does your allegiance lie?”

Coca, sensing the presence of Baklava Cookie, padded off into Amaryllis City on fluffy cloud like dragon paws, following the traveler’s pistachio scent, half flying, half walking. A clumsy looking sugar cloud who seemed to know what they were doing. Hopefully.

Baklava Cookie keeps walking ahead, occasionally taking a little snack out of his burlap sack to snack on while he approaches the city. The good mark of a salesman after all is that you can enjoy both the bustling crowds and the quiet moments, so he just snacks and walks. Huh, that cloud moves funny.

He stops for a second, staring at his Jelly Meat and starts using it like a baton. He likes to pretend sometimes, it's fun to be someone else sometimes!
