Institute of the Unique, Talented, and Magical RP
Forum-Index → Roleplay → Institute of the Unique, Talented, and Magical RPJack did a few laps of the campus, using her light magic to cast an illusion over herself. She didn't need everyone and their grandmother gawking at her as she flew through the night. Jack's specialty was light magic, though one would never know it. She had become so proficient in so many styles of magic that she was literally the "Jack of all trades." Bending the light waves around her aerodynamic form was second nature to Jack. She often flew when she was stressed, and the calming effect was best created without an audience.
She ruminated on her plan. Jack would need to slowly dismantle the stereotypes that surrounded House Riparian. She had brainstormed and put into plan a couple of key events that would change the mind of the highest ranked people. Jack knew society: when it was "cool" to like House Riparian, anyone who wanted power would grasp at those straws. But Jack needed a support group to ensure her plan's success.
She couldn't trust her friends with this matter. None of them had any interest in helping her, many even going as far as to assume that she would fail. That was what hurt the most, the fact that they dismissed her ideas without really listening to them, and by proxy, dismissed her. She could help, she could "fix", it was ingrained in her nature. But no one wanted to help her, no one opened their eyes wide enough to see that she needed fixing too.
Fact: House Riparian was widely hated. Fact: House Riparian no longer lived up to its bad stereotypes. Fact: The prejudice was affecting the performance of Riparian students. Conjuncture: Remove the stereotypes and discrimination, and Riparian students would be able to realize their full potentials. Fact: Professor Blanche, the professorial head of House Riparian, had no interest in his house. Fact: No other teachers were coming to save them. Fact: She couldn't fail.
Jack looped back to her window, and made a perfect landing back on the window sill. Enough dilly-dallying, she needed to get back to work. She visualized her to-do list in her mind. Unless Jack was mistaken, her next bullet was to follow up with Kendo. Climbing up the staircase that led to the dorms, she knocked on Kendo's door.

"Right, let's get... right to it. I believe that we were discussing how your early school experiences made you feel. How your, er, near-death experiences impacted you."
Jack tried to make the shift to the "touchy-feely" language of empathy. She wasn't perfect with emotions, but she wanted to help.

She was referring to his bullies, but avoided using the b-word. Jack didn't know how Kendo would react to the classification.

God only knew she was angry enough for a dozen people. God only knew how much hurt she still felt.

Anyway, right. Now we get to the crux of the problem. How is your past affecting your present? Are they... still hurting you now?"
She was calm, she was calm, she was calm...
